Whats Better Than One Wolverine Sidekick
Date of Scene: 11 February 2019
Location: Jubilee's Cabin - Breakstone Forest
Synopsis: Jubilee catches up with recently returned Kitty Pryde
Cast of Characters: Jubilee, Shadowcat

Jubilee has posed:
It seems that Jubilee is at home cleaning up the living room of the small cabin that hangs out near the lake. The mutant firecracker is wearing a pair of loose fitted jeans, a bright neon blue shirt with Dazzler's logo on it with a fresh pair of Addidas sneakers. Music is playing from her docked phone that she can barely hear over the roar of the vacuum. She bobs and sways as she pushes the vacuum across, humming to herself.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty continues her walk around the area. Wearing a jacket against the cold weather, and Lockheed flying overhead, she was already down by the lake. So as she sees the cabin that Jubilee lives in up ahead, Kitty changes direction to head over to it.

The sight of someone moving about inside can be seen through the window, causing Kitty to smile at having apparently caught Jubilee at home. She goes over to the door and knocks a few times. Though it might get missed above the sound of the vacuum and the music.

Jubilee has posed:
Singing loudly with some of the lyrics, it's obvious that Jubilee is a Dazzler fan. "Light up my liiiiiife! Light up my heeeaaart! You dazzled me the moment you walked through that doooooo--- oh, hey! Coming!" Jubilee calls over as she hears the knocking, killing the vacuum with a flick of the button. She heads over and opens it up, giving a grin. "Yo, Kitty Cat. Sup girl?" She says as she motions her inside. "I heard rumors you were back home. How're things going?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde has a warm smile for the Asian woman as she comes inside. "Yes, word is getting out now. Sorry I just kind of showed up out of the blue," Kitty says, having been away for the last year in Oxford. "Just trying to make the tour and catch up with the team," Kitty tells her. She looks Jubilation over. "You look good. The year has been a good one for you I hope?"

Kitty has probably changed a little physically since the last she was seen. Lost a little more of that teenage look, her cheek bones more prominent. When she left she looked like she fit into a high school crowd. Now, someone would more likely peg her as college age.

Jubilee has posed:
As usual, Jubilee looks the same. Like a young Chinese rockstar who has the build of a twig and could probably always pass for an eigth grader if you squint at her just right. "Things are okay. You know. Mansion hasn't been blown up in awhile so we got that going for us. Kids are a nightmare to deal with. Glad we were never this over dramatic at this age, huh?" She drawls in a teasing manner. "But things have been pretty chill in my world. Last year has gone pretty fast all things considered." She starts to wind the vacuum cable up, then hefts it over to it's rightful place in the corner. "Want me to snag you something to drink? I got some hot cocoa I can slap in the insta-maker and some marshmallows."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Oh, god, hot cocoa would be excellent," Kitty agrees after the walk in the February New York winter weather. Lockheed has come in with her, if that was not mentioned before. He finds somewhere comfortable to perch, glad to be in out of the cold.

"Yes, it's kind of flown for me too," Kitty confirms of the last year. "I think I might take a semester off from Oxford and stick around here, actually," Kitty says. "I was talking to Jean about helping out around the school. I'm not sure I'm up for teaching that short of a spell. I heard you are doing the counselor thing. Would you be up for some help on it?" Kitty asks. "Talking with Jean she figured it was a good area to direct me to." Kitty gives a soft laugh. "I gotta grow up sometime, right?"

Jubilee has posed:
"No way, growing up is for suckers. Be a kid forever. Way more fun." Jubilee says as she strides into the kitchen with her usual graceful swagger. Reaching for the insta, she pops a hot cocoa pod into it and taps a couple buttons. Why are these things so complex now? Sliding a heavy mug under it, she hums. "But yeah, come on in and join the chaos. Every day it's a reality show. Wah, Becky stole my boyfriend and it's why I set her on fire, or wah, I wanna be a superhero so bad, it's why I snuck out in my pajamas and got beat up by an old lady I tried to help across the street."

Sliding herself up to the top of a counter, her legs give a slow sway back and forth. "Eesh, why does that sound so incredibly familiar for?" She says as her grin toys along her face. "Hey, speaking of the good ol' days, I was thinking of kickstarting the old team again of us younger X-Men. What were they calling us? Gen X or something? Maybe you, me, Sam, Rahne?" She throws out there. "That way Jean and Scott doesn't gotta do all the heavy lifting, and we can be 'great' role models for the New Muties. Thoughts?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty moves into the kitchen with Jubilee, finding a chair and turning it so she can sit in it backwards. Arms on the top of the chair back to rest her chin on. "Saw Remy yesterday. He was kicking around some ideas, although not quite the same. I don't know if they fit together. Might be worth pinging him though as you're both thinking about ways of improving the teams," Kitty says.

Kitty Pryde gives a soft, warm chuckle. "Yes, it's the same batch of issues just with a new group, isn't it? I met Souvenir. She seems nice. When she heard what my mutant power is she made a comment about how I probably get left home a lot. Told her that wasn't the case, and just a matter of finding the right ways to help. I'm going to sit down and see if I can't help her. I mean, I remember kind of feeling that way too for a little while. It's humbling seeing Scott blow up things and Jean... be Jean, when you don't have that kind of firepower available yourself."

Jubilee has posed:
"Oh. Yeah. Erika. She's a neat kid." Jubilee says as she taps her head. "Kinda picks up skills when she touches things. But I heard she has sleeping issues because bed sheets are full of sweat shop labor or something and she picks up on that when she touches it. That must be a real pain in the ass." Jubilee hums over the idea of talking Remy. "Mmm.. Sure. I can talk to him. See if he's into the idea or whatever he has on his plate. Maybe can mix and merge. Who knows." She pops a few sparks about her fingers. "But, yeah .. I remember thinking I'd one day throw big bombs or something at The Blob or Apocalypse or whatever, and instead I just .. you know... I do this." She laughs. "I definitely get the feeling of being intimidated sometimes."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Oof. That has got to be horrible," Kitty says upon hearing of the sheets. "I never even considered something like that. I'll see if I can't find her something to help if it is still an issue for her," Kitty adds with a shake of her head.

"Yes, it's easy to focus on what others can do, and not on what we do. You've blinded so many opponents at crucial moments that won us the fight. Not to mention all the other ways you've contributed," Kitty says. "That's definitely something that people like you and I can help the kids with." There's a little puff of smoke that rises into the air. "And you, Lockheed," she tells the dragon. He flies over to greet Jubilee while Kitty has a sip of her hot cocoa. "He's still a little miffed. They didn't put him on the flight with me so he had to sit in a pet carrier for a couple of hours until the next flight to Boston."

Jubilee has posed:
"You could have said he's an Inhuman. Don't they got one that looks like a teleporting dog but he's not actually a dog?" Jubilee says in regards to Lockheed with a grin. "But, yeah, it's what I try and tell the kids here. It's not how big your booms are, it's how you use them to be most effective. Sides, if anyone really needs a bigger explosion, I'd just call up Tabitha and let her do her tick-ticky thing." Blowing on the tips of her fingers, she reaches for the mug of cocoa and lobs in some marshmallows. "You can have the other side of the office, but you gotta be bad cop. I already got rep of being good cop, unless it's with Mason Steel. Woo, that kid. He needs a big bro in his life but he's too rock star for any of that."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Sure thing. Hopefully they don't need a lot of bad cop. I figured... well, I hoped I could just be me and that see if that's enough. For most of the time," Kitty says with a smile and a shrug.

She looks over to Lockheed as he comes to land on her shoulder since she doesn't have an available lap, sitting in the chair backwards. "I figured it might be easier to not make waves. Had one a telepath from Excalibur help get him through the security check in a dog carrier," she says. She reaches up to rub Lockheed's neck. "Oh it was such a rough day of flight. Next time I'm asking someone to get me in the Blackbird. Or, better yet, teleport over. I guess Rachel is fast enough to grab breafkast from Europe. Speaking of which, she kind of filled me in a little bit on herself. And my history... future... with her."

Jubilee has posed:
"Pff. I wouldn't even worry about it. You know how many kids the Summers have from different dimensions? I've lost count at about twenty. All of these 'could be' realities will only stress you out if you think about it." Jubilee says with a grin as she plucks up her own mug of cocoa and sips away at it. "Your history will be defined on how you live today, you know what I mean? Also, Captain Spoiler Alert needs to not tell people what's going to happen from her timeline. It will just cause people to get upset. Can you imagine students finding out they're gonna get killed horrifically in a future that may not happen?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Something passes through Kitty's face, and she gives a nod. "Oh, yes, I can imagine actually," Kitty says. She lets out a little cleansing sigh. "I was a parent figure to her, apparently. Took her in after... bad stuff. Anyway. Hopefully I can help her adjust and all. Along with Jean and Scott."

Kitty reaches up to pet Lockheed again, working her fingers over places she knows he likes. "You're right though about, it'd be better if she kept those things a little closer to the vest. I'm hoping to give her a chance to talk about it, so maybe things won't slip out so much. At least in my case, well, it wasn't out of the blue at least. Helping me understand where she was from."

Jubilee has posed:
"Maybe, but you're not her parent figure in /this/ time, you know what I mean? We're about the same age and we aren't ready to be parents to fully grown adults. Let Jean or Betsy handle that. Telepath stuff. Be her friend, but you can't be her mom, even if you were a hundred years from now or whatever." Jubilee says as she sways her feet back and forth, giving a rhythmic tapping behind her on the counter. "You don't need that type of pressure, you feel me Kitty? Be a friend, don't be a mom." Seems like she is being a counselor right now in her kitchen.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles to Jubilee and says, "I imagine we'll probably end somewhere in the middle of her Aunt Kate... and a friend Kitty. But, the way she reacted, I think she's pretty comforted to have me there. Jean may be her mother, but I think she also has to deal with the memories of losing her. That isn't an issue for me. So I'm a little bit more of a safe space for her maybe?"

Kitty sips her hot chocolate. "You make a mean cup of this. If there isn't one of these in the offices, we should get one," Kitty says with a soft smile.

Jubilee has posed:
Bobbing her head, Jubilee says, "Yeah, I got one of these and a freezer packed full of energy drinks. Nothing like scaring the kids when you're wired up and vibrating in the seat to talk about detention." She blows some black hair away from her face. "Hey, you hear that Emma took off back to her old school? You know what that means right? Rivlaries are back on again! We gotta challenge her chump students to a softball game, like the old days when Piotr would send a ball to Saturn."

Shadowcat has posed:
The muscles on one side of Kitty's jaw seem to shift at the mention of Emma. "So she's not around the school anymore? Well. I guess we'll have to get by without her then," Kitty says. If Wolverine, Beast, or another capable of smelling emotions were in the room, they'd be rubbing their noses about now.

That gives way to the other side of her jaw tensing a bit. "Yes, just like the old days," Kitty says, looking away quickly. "It is good to be back. So many good memories," Kitty says, bringing her eyes back to Jubilee. She phases through the chair and moves over to give Jubilee a quick hug. "I'm glad to be back around you, Jubi," she says warmly.

Jubilee has posed:
"Ahhhh, gottem." Jubilee says as she watches Kitty's expression shift in regards to Emma. Her thin brows shoot upwards, giving a wide grin. Reaching out to give her a hug in return, she smiles as she props her chin on her shoulder. "I'm glad you're back too, Kit-Kat. I needed my bestie around again. What's better than one Wolverine sidekick? Two, of course. So, how 'bout tonight we go snag some chili dogs in the city? That place we used to go to as kids is still around and the dogs are still howling. I'm gonna try and break my record of six this time."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets out a warm laugh and tightens the hug momentarily before loosening it back up. "Saw Logan last night," she says. Imitating the taciturn man's tone, Kitty stares ahead and gives a little up nod before saying, "Pryde." She breaks out in soft laughter. "That's as good as a hug from anyone else."

Kitty converts the hug into just having her arm about Jubilee companionably. "Oh god. I haven't had a chili dog in FOREVER. That's one thing about the British. They are not the best at cuisine."

Who is Kitty kidding? 90% of her meals there were cereal, the same as they are here.

Jubilee has posed:
"Right? Who wants to drink tea and eat 'spotted dick' every day?" Jubilee says with a brow waggle, followed by a wink as she curls her arm about her in return. "Oh. I'll snag Rogue and Lorna too. We'll have a real girl's night and just do the hot dogs, maybe do some sidewalk crawling and see if we can find any vendors to hit up. I'm always down for some vintage throwback junk."

Leaning over to smooch her cheek, she then slips off the counter and takes their empty mugs to the sink to rinse out. "Not sure if you got recapped by Slim yet, but there's been X-Men clones wandering about New York attacking people. First Rogue, then Bobby. That was a fun brawl. Nega-Bobby threw an ice dragon at us which Scott blasted in half. Was freaking awesome. So, you may be called to duty soon." She grins. "You know.. like the old days."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Yes, I heard from Bobby about his shadow puppet. Took out a bridge somewhere, I think he said. I believe Jean was moving me onto the active squad," Kitty confirms. She lets out a sigh. "Which is probably good. I was a little worried of having to live down again that stupid Baby X-men crack I made," Kitty says, in a tone that expresses disapproval at her own self. Referring to an outburst when Xavier moved her down to the New Mutants for awhile, some time in the past before she left for Oxford. "I should probably go get fitted for a new outfit." Kitty lets out a soft laugh. "And... Rachel says I... keep developing," she adds.

Jubilee has posed:
"Ha. You should check out the new New Mutants now. They got some interesting faces. Two popstars, Wolvies cloned daughter, a dude that looks like Apocalypse but he's the nicest guy in the world, Erika and um.." Jubilee rubs her chin in thought. "I think that may be it, but they've made their mark already. They're fitting right on in with the chaos, sneaking out and getting in trouble."

With a glance to the clock, Jubilee rolls her eyes upwards. "Speaking of chaos, I got a meeting with this kid who keeps himself Booger Boy. You don't wanna know his super power, trust me. But, yeah, let's get new costumes together too. I need to update my closet." She heads for the door, snagging her pink shades from the table and slides them on the top of her head, followed by her yellow trench coat. "Feel free to snag more cocoa if you want!" She calls over her shoulder on the way out.
