Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Phoenix, Cyclops, Rogue

Phoenix has posed:
Hearing about the disasterous affair involving Erika and James Proudstar, following being away for dealing with Sentinel and Sorcerer Supreme issues, Jean was a bit lagging in the smaller affairs involving the X-Men. But as it turns out, it's often the smallest thorns that bothers the most.

She caught up with Rogue in the kitchen, and asked her if she'd accompany her to check on Scott, and here they are, stepping into the Medical Lab.

As soon as they cross the threshold Jean loses a bit of her trademarked cool, and hurries to Scott's side, "Scott! Are you okay? What happened over there? I'm so sorry I couldn't make it!"

Cyclops has posed:
Scott is on a bed with a suture in his side where he was stabbed by James, and his left arm is wrapped up and down with gauze with a sling around his neck keeping the elbow bent at chest level. He has his glasses strapped onto his head for safety sake and he looks pretty beat up in general. He's been down here since getting back from the rescue mission. "Oh, heya Jean." He says, trying to act strong for the woman he's been trying to date. "I'm okay. But Hank has told me to stay in bed, but the students are about to drive me up the walls."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue had been walking along with Jean from the kitchen, her hands are stuffed into her hoodie. She's just been telling Jean about the new car she bought. "Yep, an old Dodge Charger. He even painted it a dark green for me with black racin' stripes." She grins at the other. "I'm gonna loan the other car out t'Kitty cause she needs a ride so she can find a job somewhere near-by if she's not gonna go back to Oxford."

But once they reach the med lab and she walks with Jean inside, she trails after her a bit of distance and just looks around the lab. She hates labs and sciencey places. They make her uncomfortable.

"Same, I was... uh. I was out at a bar. I'll admit it." She then says with a sly grin. She looks around then as she steps up near to the foot of the bed. "We let students in here?" She asks, eyeing Jean. "Why?"

Phoenix has posed:
"That's what students are professionally good at, misunderstanding, overracting and getting in trouble. I'd say they're performing as well as expected..." she grins at Scott, glad to finds him sounding quite strong. She's not the sort to invade and check for herself if it's just a front, she's far more respect than that. "Good thing you're not crazy like Logan, and actually listen to what the good doctor has to say."

"The only reason students would be here is if they are breaking the rules, the medical lab is certainly restricted as are all the sublevels..." Jean answers Rogue. Obviously, there was absolutely no explicit or implicit reason for students to just be here. Maybe a New Mutant took a wrong turn on the way to a scheduled Danger Room session? But even that shouldn't happen.

Turning back to Scott she asks, "so what did happen over there?"

Cyclops has posed:
"It was a few New Mutants. Sam came by, then Erika, and finally Andrea... Erika is pushing herself too hard and trying to do everything at once. She asked about even flying the jet. The girl is fifteen, and eventually stormed off calling me more like Erik than Charles." Scott says, looking down at his side and frowning as his arm is hurting again and so is where he got stabbed. "It's been a hell of an afternoon." Scott says.

He looks past Jean to Rogue and says, "I was thinking of taking her into the Danger room to teach the girl how to be stealthy, but kind of hard to move right now, I think it would do Rogue a world of good, agree Jean?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's gloved hands come out of her hoodie and she rests them on the foot of the bed's frame. She looks to Jean and nods her head softly. "New Mutants then, I guess." She quietly says before her vision shifts over to Scott again.

She smirks at him when he speaks of Erika wanting to fly the Blackbird. "She can read the whole operation manual and take a quiz on it, then go inta studyin' how to actually repair vital systems on it, then I'd let her take lessons inside the danger room if she can do all that. Even then... she's just too young, in my opinion."

Its then then that she huffs at Scott saying she needs stealth training. "I know how t'be sneaky. I just choose not t'be." She reaches up and taps the side of her. "Carol was a sneak when she needed t'be, with her special ops trainin'. Its all up here still, the good parts and the bad parts'a her extensive military experiences. I just don't tap inta that stuff a lot, cause it leads me t'feelin' like she's takin' over again, my whole mind. Like, how it used t'fell."

Phoenix has posed:
"New Mutants...that's how they had the clearance...and I guess Sam was the reason they could get in the lab," Jean notes, and looks like she's gradually losing patience. It's not the first she's heard of Sam doing things she doesn't approve of since he's been granted leadership of the New Mutants. Maybe it was a mistake...? Maybe he doesn't make as sound decisions when he doesn't have Dani Moonstar by his side? It's possible. Not every decision Jean makes is a great one, and looks like her call on Sam leading the New Mutants is proving just that, a bad one.

"More like Erik than Charles? How does she know either of them!? And Charles!? We still call him Professor..." Jean looks utterly stunned by Erika's flippancy and irresponsibility. "I think she just might be following the Brotherhood's creed in trying to master everything at once, right now, at any cost...foolishness."

"At 15 nobody should sit in either pilot or co-pilot seat of the Blackbird, far too much responsibility. Professor Xavier wouldn't have it, we had Carol to pilot when we were younger, and I think children should be allowed to be children. Even if she thinks herself Professor Xavier's equal at this point."

Cyclops has posed:
"it's not even that that gets me upset, it's that she was, is willing to put the other students in danger so she can go outside the fence and 'live her life'." Scott says, lifting his right hand to make air quotes with his fingers. Then he lowers his hand and takes a deep breath before he reaches for the glass of water and takes a sip. Scott looks back to Rogue and nods, "I agree, I agree with both of you. Communication is key in all of this. I couldn't make her understand that she needs to think about others more than herself. She doesn't trust anyone to help her or anything." Scott frowns as he sets his drink down and then looks to the two, "Anyways, how are you two? I didn't expect to be graced with two sexy nurses... nursii? I forget the plural..." Scott frowns.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue nods over at Jean softly. "It was some of her favorite times." She says to the Phoenix, because she's got those memories of Carol flying for the X-Men, or at least fragments of them left inside her head. Its all getting more fuzzy every year that goes by since she absorbed her.

"But what I mean is, Erika could start learning about the Blackbird now, and trainin' in the simulator later. Bein' a pilot ain't no throwaway skills, and piloting -that- thing? Its not some pond hpper prop plane, its the big leagues."

She then looks over at Scott and levels her gaze at him. "Are you on some kinda drugs?" She asks then before she looks back to Jean. "Did he just call us sexy nurses?"

Phoenix has posed:
Jean frowns as she can't help but agree with Scott, something like that will never do. If Erika is the sort of person who will bring harm on other students to have her way, maybe Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, isn't really the school for her. She clearly lacks an understanding of what Xavier's is all about, maybe it has to do with chasing trinkets over sitting in class. Whatever it is, the girl is unlevelled. "I'll see if I can have a word or two with the girl, Scott."

Jean smirks at the last bit, noting ever so helpfully, "nurses is the correct answer, and the daily double!" She moves closer to Scott, brushing a hand through his hair, gently, "so, if we're being nurses and all, anything I can get you? Something to drink perhaps?"

"Was it...?" Jean turns to look at Rogue in surprise, she always thought that time of recovery was one of the worst for someone like Carol, she didn't even know how to approach her from the level of sadness she felt over what happened.

"I am far too busy than to give her flight lessons and approved gradual scenarios in the Danger Room, you want to see to her flight training? But I insist, two years of technical material before she ever gets to touch the real thing...she's a kid, and a New Mutants should even be thinking about the Blackbird, hell, if they get to ride it that's a treat in and of itself."

Jean then looks surprised, before turning back to look at Scott, "was that what you said?" She utterly missed the sexy part. "It must be the morphine, Rogue..."

Cyclops has posed:
"What, you both look amazing in smocks." Scott says, the blush on his cheek slowly growing deeper and deeper. Then Scott winces and tries to press his left hand into his side and frowns before he throws back the cover and spots the small red spot on his gown. "Hank is going to kill me." He frowns. Yeah, standing to impress or show up Erika was a really poor idea. He popped his sutures, just like everyone said he would if he tried to do anything.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just has to shake her head and snicker a little as she steps over to a stool and sits down on it with her hands ontop her thighs now. "I don't think I could handle bein' a nurse. Last time I remember bein' at a hospital was when I was when I was thirteen and my step uncle fell off'a the ladder while paintin' the barn. He broke his arm and his ankle... and the nurses were doin' all the work t'fix him back up. When the doctor came in, all he did was say 'Yep, looks good, bye!' and strutted on back out."

With a light sigh then Rogue reaches up to rub at her forehead. "Well. What I know about Carol is that she loved flyin', and the Blackbird is a hellava way t'fly. I get a thrill doin' it when I've been allowed t'a. Especially that last time with the evil Iceman near Metropolis. That was a serious rush. Makes me wonder what combat pilotin' is like. Ya know... first hand. Live and in person."

Phoenix has posed:
"I'm pretty sure smocks went out of style...mmm...during Shakespeare's time was it?" Jean muses at Rogue, laughing at Scott's morphine infused flattery. "No, Scott, Hank is going to do no such thing...bet on it. I'll have you know I take all that as a fault of mine, the Professor would have been stricter with the kids, maybe they'd have some respect...I am being too lenient with them, I give them too much priviledge..." Jean sighs, her bleeding heart was always a serious flaw of hers, and it's getting everyone in trouble since the Professor left for whatever business it was with the Shi'ar, she hopes that in itself isn't going badly for his absence to be so prolonged.

"Yeah...I'm not much of a nurse myself, I mean, I know some basic first aid...and technically I could cheat if I had a nurse or doctor to steal knowledge from, but I don't have any of my own. I also try to avoid taking anything from other people, if I can help it. Something I wish Erika would someday learn, or she might just turn out a bad seed."

"I...do it when there's no other pilot on hand, but I do get occasional flashbacks sitting at that pilot seat..." Jean shares, only because it's Rogue and Scott here. She likely wouldn't if anyone else was about. No need to state why.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott reaches out with his good hand to try and grab Jean's and he apologizes. "I'm sorry. I tried to do the right thing but I failed... horribly." He says with a motion to himself and then to the doorway that Erika walked out of. He's incredibly vulnerable at the moment with the injuries and the drugs, and the being called Erik. Scott's not doing too well. "I don't think the kids really understand how bad things can be, or are. Like there's no consequences..." Scott says with a frown and even a glance to Rogue before his glasses shift to look squarely at Jean.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue wasn't here when Jean went through the Phoenix ordeal, but she's heard bits about it. She bites down on her bottom lip and just keeps her thoughts inside her head for now as she looks between the two of them.

When she sees Scott reach out for Jean's hand her lip pops back out from between her teeth and now she's just smiling like a big doofus. She moves to stand up from her stool.

"Yeah well... I was listenin' to a podcast while I was gradin' some papers for my TA work... and this guy from Britain said one'a the biggest things about bein' here in a America that is different from his homeland is that here? Everyone acts like they're the star'a their own movie. And that, I think, its doubly-so with teenagers... And since I am no longer a teenager, I can talk about'em like how the rest've ya all talk about'em." She continues to grin after saying all of that.

Phoenix has posed:
"I'm sure you're exaggerating, Scott," Jean whispers as she lets him grab her hand, and smiles down at him, "they're kids, part of being a kid is thinking you know everything when in fact you know nothing. What I'm wondering is how she came by any knowledge about Professor Xavier or Magneto, to the point she's comfortable addressing them as Charles and Erik...I might need to have words on Magneto and check if he's been pulling Erika's strings behind the scenes, she's certainly acting like he has..."

When Jean catches Rogue's awkward look of discomfort as she mentions what is likely the biggest challenge of her life, not to mention something she's still dealing with to this day, Jean grins, and quips, "no big deal, just think about the most difficult scenario you could imagine Professor Xavier designing to push your limit in the Danger Room, and then play it in real life before you ever seen it in the Danger Room, and if you fail...you just killed the X-Men, that was what I had to deal with..." Jean is grinning and quipping now, but it's quite clear the trauma is still carried on her shoulders. "I thought I failed at first...it felt like I was failing, and then, somehow I made it...I don't even know how."

Jean's eyes soon sharpen at Rogue's words, shaking away the bad memory, as she gives Rogue a thumbs up, "look at you, talking like a proper teacher, doing your research, and...actually unveiling a very solid point. Teenagers are entitled, and they do feel like the star of the movie...we need to teach them otherwise, before they learn that the wage of heroism is death."

Cyclops has posed:
"What are you two talking about?" Scott asks through the haze of morphine drip. He does reach over to push the call button, hopefully Hank or someone qualified will come by to stop his bleeding. Scott then looks at the bag of fast food Andrea left on his table, with a frown. Nice but none of that sounds good, not right now. "We all mess up sometimes, but at least we rely on each other, and don't bring our problems home so that everyone has to deal with them... usually." Scott says with a lop sided smirk.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue walks over to stand beside Jean and she smiles at her as she finishes her recollection of those events. "I know how ya didn't fail." She says then, reaching a gloved hand up to pat the top of Jean's right shoulder. "Its cause you're awesome." She says in an arguable lack of eloquence, but an undeniable truth of simple fact. She then looks over to Scott. "And its cause ya had good guys like this nerd t'help ya through." She says, ignoring the question Scott asks about what they're talking about.

"Scott, you need t'get better so you can take me and Jean t'one'a those car races you're always yammerin' about. So you get better, damnit!" She turns then to walk for the exit. "I'm gonna go check on some stuff, ya'll. I gotta make sure I didn't leave my phone charger in the car I'm loanin' Kitty now!"

The southern belle seems to be making her exit to leave the two together!

Phoenix has posed:
Rogue doesn't get away with just a light touch on Jean's shoulder, because Jean pulls her for an embrace. Apparently this subject sits a lot deeper, and bothers her a lot more, than she lets out. She's wincing for a brief moment, before looking serene once again. "Thank you for saying that, Rogue, feels reassuring to hear. Doesn't hurt every now and again, I do constantly question myself."

Leave it to Rogue to manage to break Jean out of the more somber moment, as she laughs at the comment about Scott, "yes, it's true, I may have had different thoughts when I was much younger, but this nerd kept us together, the Professor was right to make you Field Commander, Scott, you were always the most calm and in control out of all of us."

She brushes Scott's hair affectionately once more, before getting up, "and I think Fearless Leader needs a rest now, so Rogue, how about I treat you to a shake at Harry's?"
