It's lunch time in New Troy, and after a rough night, Suzanne seems to be getting her breakfast from a nearby restaurant. She does seem a little sleepy, but she's still rather polite to people as she tries to get some food. "mmmm...excuse me." She mumbles a bit as she tries to get around an elderly couple.....

Brother Shon, the newest member of the Blue Lantern Corps, moves into the atmosphere of the nearest planet on his journey. His quest to become a Blue Lantern will start here. The blue-green world fills his mind and body, his very soul with Hope. So beautiful. Bigger on the inside than the outside, if you can believe the words of the great Saint Walker himself. Many of the Galaxy's greatest champions are from this blue-emerald ball, and Brother Shon was eager to begin this leg of his journey as a Blue Lantern.
As Brother Shon settles into the skies above the city of New Troy, his ring, and by connection, Shon feels something. Or rather, someone, with the potential to instill great hope in the Universe. His eyes scan the area with an eagerness of a new recruit, but he cannot locate the person.
Stopping a moment, Brother Shon settles, and assumes a more serene posture. Closing his eyes, he reaches out, and feels the pull, the draw, towards Suzanne. Willing his ring to take him to her, Brother Shon streaks towards the newest potential recruit!

As Brother Shon makes his way into the atmosphere, Suzanne is making her way out of the restaurant....well...after she helps the elderly couple to the only seat remaining. Rather than sit in the booth by herself, she let the couple have the booth.
She walks outside and made her way for a small park to sit on a bench and eat her food, which was just ham, sausage, fried potatoes and scrapple. The last one getting utter shock from SUzanne as she ordered it. "Mmmmm....scrapple. been a while since I had scrapple." And she digs in.

Brother Shon arrives at the restaurant, a quizzical expression on his face. The air was almost toxic, and so, a light blue nimbus continues to surround him. Using his ring this way was subtle, but Shon has become more in tune with the ring the last few hours, as he continues to practice. Looking around, Shon was shocked at the smog, the people, the buildings, the very smells and tastes of Earth. This was NOT what he expected!
As Suzanne walks outside, Brother Shon spots her, and feels the synchonicity and electricity of the connection. His ring was telling him that she was the one! Floating forward in a subtle fashion, so as to not spook anyone, the aline Blue Lantern tries to remain nondescript and covert. And failing miserably. People point at him, and shy away from him. A Blue Lantern? What was that!?!
"Good morrow to you, Daughter of Earth! I am Brother Shon, and I have approcahed you to discuss your potential as a Blue Lantern, a beacon of Hope in a dark Universe! May we talk?" His voice conveys hope and eagerness, a genuine air about him, and a full faced smile.

Suzanne looks up from her bite and stares at Brother Shon for a few seconds....then looks behind her....in both directions, then points to herself tilting her head. All this is done while she's finishing chewing....but then she swallows. "Uh....me?" She then tilts her head. "You mean like that green lantern guy from the Justice League?" She then scratches her head. "Beacon of Hope. That's.....a new one on me." She then moves her styrofoam tray and gestures tot he seat. "Have a seat and.....You'll forgive my confusion, but....how could I be a beacon of hope? I figured that'd go to Superman before me."

Brother Shon hovers closer, moving into the park, and looks over Suzanne with an appraising air. His ring remains silent for the moment, as Shon concentrates on the new potential recruit. Ignoring the looks he was receiving from other Earthlings, Shon simply vocalizes what he was feeling. Hope almost exhudes off him as he offers Suzanne a great gift. "No, not a "Green Lantern". Shon bows his head respectfully, denoting his respect for the GLC. "You have the ability to instill great Hope in others, Daughter of Earth. I am a Blue Lantern, Brother Shon in fact."
Shon bows at the waist, and then returns to his previous stance. With a nod, Shon says, "This "Superman" must be a beacon of Hope, yes, but you are as well." Shon sits in the chair across from Suzanne. "Would you like to learn more about the Blue Lantern Corps?" His voice exhudes another emotion as well, joy, as he hopes beyond hope that she will say yes, "Would you say yes to joining us?"

"well, Superman's a rather obvious figure of hope. He....actually gave me hope when I moved out here to get away from my family, but that's a long story in itself." She then smiles a bit. "I would definitely say yes. I'm just trying to figure out HOW I'm a beacon of hope. I haven't really done anything except help people as best I can."
- Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Brother Shon regards the table with a strange expression, possibly unique to his race. The light blue nimbus remains around him though, filtering the air and anything else that could harm him. Looking back up at Suzanne, Brother Shon smiles warmly, and continues. "Indeed. I have only briefly heard of this "Superman". My mentor, Saint Walker mentioned he has encountered some of the heroes of Earth. Superman was a notable beacon of Hope, and would make a fine Blue Lantern."
Brother Shon looks a little strange, sitting in the chair, but floating above it ever so slightly. "It is good that you identify with him as the one who gave you Hope when you moved here. That is a good sign that you are almost ready to accept us into your heart."
Brother Shon nods emphatically, saying, "I witnessed you giving up your seat for others. It is what you just said...you help as best you can." A small pause, "I see that you care for others, just by looking at you now. It is your aura...your emotional attachment to the blue ends of the emotional spectrum...the blue nimbus of Hope seems to caress your very soul. It is obvious to those who can see. You inspire people to do beter."

Suzanne actually blushes a little. "It's.....somewhat selfish, actually, but.....I do it so I can feel a little better about myself. I worry because....there are times where I wonder if I could've ended up like my brother. That's.....another story and mostly a negative one. So I try to show people that there ARE good people in the world, but it's also to get out of the 'I am trash' I felt like for the first three-quarters of my life." She then exhales a bit. "Superman may have been an example for me.....perhaps I can be an example for others. Wait....you said the Blue Lantern Ring runs on hope?"

Brother Shon looks distracted for a few moments, as a bird pays particular attention to him, swooping down close enough to almost touch. "Amazing. A white bird. Fascinating fauna and flora on this planet. Hmmm." Returning his attention back to Suzanne, he turns a slight shade of touquoise, embarrassed at his in-attention. "My apologies."
"Your brother is not you." Brother Shon says in a quiet, warm voice. "You are the sum of your experiences, and that was one relationship that helped to forge you into a potential beacon for hope. You ARE a good person, or I would not have been drawn to you."
"My ring has determined that you have this potential. Otherwise, the ring would not have drawn me here."

Suzanne Reinhardt says, "The birds are curious, since you are new here, plus I have food." She says as she eats another bit of her food. "Would you like some?" She says holding up the tray. "Or can you eat our food?""
- Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Smiling, Brother Shon nods, and says, "Yes. They are fascinating." Turning back to the details at hand, Brother Shon nods, and makes a decision. "No thank you. I believe I have a gift for you."
As Brother Shon listens to the words of this young daughter of Earth, he begins to float above the table once more in a "crossed legs" yoga pose. Shon closes his eyes and concentrates, as he feels Hope build within him. Hope for a better world, and a better future! As he truly believes that Suzanne is that beacon of Hope he was drawn too, his Hope for the future grows brighter and brighter, until a smaller streak of blue arrives, stopping just above Brother Shon's outstretched ring hand.
"Daughter of Earth, you have but to embrace Hope, and you will become a member of the Blue Lantern Corps." Shon lowers his hand and the blue ring floats towards Suzanne almost lazily.
As the ring nears Suzanne, a deep, melodic voice says, "Suzanne Reinhardt. You have the ability to instill great hope. Welcome to the Blue Lantern Corps."

Suzanne blinks at Shon takes that yoga pose and and even when the blue 'streak' appears to be a ring. Suzanne chuckles, smiles and lowers her head as the ring, itself, speaks those words, and holds out her left hand for the ring, so it can place itself on her left middle finger. "I can honestly say you're the nicest person I've ever met, Brother Shon. Do I rename myself to Sister Suzanne? Or something?"

Brother Shon's eyes glow slightly blue as Suzanne accepts the ring. The transformation will be instantaneous when she allows herself true Hope. "Let yourself be one with the ring. Commune with it. It will teach you in combination with what I teach you. As for your name, that is up to you. I would suggest Sister Reinhardt, or you can choose something that is true in your heart to protect your identity here on Earth...something inspiring." Shon grins. "We will continue your training soon. In the meantime, continue to commune with your ring." With a bow, Shon departs. But he will return.
