Synopsis: Jessica and John Jones run into one another in Central Park, and discuss life in general.
Cast of Characters: Spider-Woman (Drew), Martian Manhunter

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Central Park is always lovely, but particularly so in Autumn. It's not sweater weather, yet. But it is still beautiful with just the slightest hint of colour.

Jessica has spent a great deal of time of late just...recovering. Events have left her empty. And so today, she finds herself standing on the shore of the lake, watching ducks. There is an open book in one hand, but Jess isn't looking at it. She looks, in fact, a million miles away.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
Watching the world is not only something that must be done from the monitor room of the watchtower, nor something that can be achieved by mingling with the higher organizations of the abovementioned planet. Sometimes, J'onn just has to take a human shape, land on Earth, and do what hummans do, live their life.
This morning, J'onn did his shift as detective John Jones, now of the NYPD, and now he's still in Jones' shape, even if not wearing the uniform. The tall detective then, walks calmly along the paths of central park, his athletic body wrapped in a civilian set of clothes composed of a white shirt and a pair of jeans, simple running shoes on his feet. It has been a wile since he started his walk, enough that he is considering partaking in another human activity. Finding a bench on which to sit, and so it is that maybe his mind, sensing some turmoil, leads him towards the bench where Jessica is reading, to stop there and ask "can I?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica startles a little when John speaks. "Oh...yes, sorry, of course!" She recognizes him from the NYPD. She had never spoken to him, but she'd recognize him anywhere. From all the time Jessica spent with Frank Quaid, she knows most of the NYPD, given her ability to move and work within the NYPD as a consultant.

"I know you. Detective Jones, right?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn nods, smiles, and calmly takes a seat on the bench at a respectful distance from Jessica. "Right, a pleasure to meet you, miss Drew." he serenely states, settling comfortably but still in a composed way on his newly found spot "I trust the day finds you well and healthy?" he asks, turning his blue eyes on the woman and examining her

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica smiles faintly and nods. "It's been...different. But I am doing all right. Just recovering my wits a little. It's...it's good to see someone from the force. How are things at NYPD, Detective Jones?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn hmms and nods in understanding "well, the important thing is that you're well, and getting better." he states, glancing briefy around and shrugging "things are as they always are, miss. Peaceful at times, a lilbit more busy at others, it just depends on the day really. How about your, group? How are things there?" he asks, partially curious about the answer

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica breathes a huge sigh. "Honestly...I don't really know. I have not had contact with the Avengers much in a while. Tony Stark checked in on me not long ago, but he just told me that he was going to lighten my load due to my involvement with Frank and the NYPD. Now that I don't have those either, it has been....well, really quiet in my life. So I have just been out doing a little crimefighting alone, really."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn gives another nod of understanding "well, crimefighting is as useful as saving the world. That's something that we all need, after all, even if the avengers and the league keep us safe from alien menaces, supercomputers intent on destroying us all and all sorts of big threats, someone still needs to make sure the average citizen doesn't suffer because of a mugger or a bank robber..." he admits, turning the corners of his lips slightly upwards in a small hint of a smile.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica smirks. "Well, I'm doing my best to protect the citizens here from that sort of thing. I go to the Dominican Republic sometimes, too. To help them, there. I helped build a school there, so the children would not have to walk ten miles into Villa Altagracia. That is a long walk, on little feet."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn chuckles and smiles "the sacrifices one must do for knowledge!" he states, casting a grateful glance your way "well, you probably hear it enough, but still, thank you for that." he says, playing in the role of detective Jones as best as he can for now. "what you do is appreciated, that's a sure thing."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Do more appreciated than what you do, Detective Jones. We all just play our part. And I am very glad to be able to help everywhere that I can." Jess closes the book she is holding, finally, and looks back out at the water. She lays the book, entitled "Remembering to Breathe," down on the bench. "I'm glad you found time to come out here today. It may sound selfish, but I needed someone like you today."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn aims a smile at Jessica "everyone does his part, in a way. We're all part of something bigger, after all" he claims, casting a glance at the book's cover and asking "did you forget how to work your respiratory system, miss Drew?" he asks, chuckling a bit. Then the smile returns "I am glad to be of help however and whenever I can."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica glances at the cover of the book, and breathes a laugh. "I don't know, sometimes it feels like I have forgotten how to use my lungs," she replies. "But I am learning. And working on remembering." She pauses briefly, to look at him more seriously. "Why exactly /did/ you come out here today. It doesn't seem like a normal place for you to be in the middle of a Tuesday morning..."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn chuckles some more "well, you know, there's a lot of other components to the breathing system though. Glad to know you identified your issue in the lungs area!" he then leans a bit backwards on the bench, closing his eyes in contemplation of an answer "well, if you're referring to central park, it is an average place to be for someone living in new york, to be honest. I mean, look at all the people! If you're referring about my job, I did my shift tonight, so I have the day free. If you mean the bench, well, it's a bench"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Oh! Dude, the night shift? Who did you piss off? You had to make somebody mad to get stuck on that shift. Ouch. Sorry to hear it. But hey, it means you have the day to yourself. That's never bad. But it would be a little nicer if it were cool fall weather."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn can't stop a small laugh coming directly from his chest, and vigorously shakes his head "to be honest it was me choosing the night shift for today! I needed to investigate some things that could be seen only at night..." he simply explains, shrugging slightly. After all it's easy when sleep is not really something a martian needs in as much a quantity as a human do! "well, yes, the weather could be better, but also worse so I'm not complaining."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"True..." Jess glances sidelong at John. He has NEVER been one to complain about anything. His demeanor is always pleasant. Respectful. Helpful, and encouraging. "Y'know," she begins thoughtfully, "the world could do with a lot more men like you."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn turns the corners of his mouth up in a smile aimed at Jessica "while I thank you for the compliment, I must also warn you that probably the world would be in great danger with many men like me! I mean, probably, it would be overcome with all the calmness, and we detectives would probably start investigating every single thing, discovering every secret of every person!"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica knows he is joking. She's sure of it. And yet, there is a little bit f terror in her eyes when he talks about that world. "Okay yeah just a moderate number of John Jones'. I mean....everything in moderation, right? Never too much of a good thing?" She laughs at the thought. "You'd all turn the world upside down."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn keeps chuckling, and gives a nod of agreement "everything in moderation, always! Moderation, balance, measure, is the key of success and of living well in harmony with everything and everyone." he explains his point of view.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica glances sidelong at The detective. "You're nothing like most men, are you? Not even the others at the NYPD." There is something harmonic that resonates within the detective that she just can't put her finger on.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn hmms thoughtfully "well, I suppose, everyone of us is different in his own way. I will take it as a compliment, however, and thank you miss Drew!" he simply says, smiling again at the woman. "I'm afraid though, that I will soon have to leave you for today"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Oh...of course, that's fine. I have a million things to do, myself. I should probably get to them, instead of sitting here staring....at uh...ducks." She blushes faintly. "So if nothing else, you'll get me moving to get them done."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn grins a bit, then chuckles, looking at the ducks and then back at Jessica "the ducks won't mind you staring I'm sure! And I have the feeling, almost every other living creature within a mile radius won't mind being stared at by you, well, not unless you are communicating an intention to kill and murder with the stare of course. Which I'm sure you don't." he smiles, smoothly standing up "well, miss Drew, I do hope to see you soon in the near future?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica laughs, this time. "Yeah, not trying to kill anyone," she replies. "It was good to see you. I hope we meet up again soon," she replies. "Be well, Detective. Till next we meet."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn nods and smiles again at the woman "be safe, miss Drew." that said, he turns, starting to walk on the path away from the woman, away from the park, to find a place where noone is looking to turn invisible and then fly, up into the sky, up to the watchtower to take up his monitor duty for the day.
