Cast of Characters: Marvel Girl, Daken

Marvel Girl has posed:
Fall has definitely arrived, and with it, a new batch of students. And also some of the same students, but the school //does// have a tendency to grow each year. For most, that's an exciting thing. New friends! New experiences! For Rachel, it's a little more complicated.

A new school year and a new batch of students is another chance to run into someone she killed in a previous life. Another person who might die in this one if the Sentinels aren't under control. And that's all aside from the sheer psychic noise of more people on campus.

Like any good X-scion, she deals with it all by repressing it as much as possible and distracting herself with physical exertion. Despite the encroaching chill of fall, she takes her runs outside, wearing a light-weight hoodie over her tank top and joggers. No headphones for her - too much distraction from her surroundings. She makes her way from the space behind the garage at a dead run, sprinting out the last of her path back to the main building.

Daken has posed:
Well, Daken isn't part of the new batch of students since he's actually old enough to be each of their grandfathers, he looks like he's not a day over 21. So, there he is in the backyard, yawning just a little bit as he walks. His eyes shift from person to person, but this means that he's also not quite watching where he's going, mind you...

He currently wears a red shirt with black jeans and combat boots. His hair is not in its usual mohawk, instead it comes down to his shoulders, giving a little curtain to his face. His hands are in his pockets, but he doesn't see anyone jogging. Lightly because he makes a mistake.

He walks directly in front of a certain jogger because he's paying too much attention to absolutely nothing.

Marvel Girl has posed:
For about a half a second, Rachel seriously considers just bowling into him. That's the sort of instinct that comes from the paternal, people-skill-lacking side of the gene pool. But the more sensible side wins out. Possibly because she has an inkling of the fact that there are a //few// others here who are as dangerous as she is, and picking fights with them is stupid.

That said, there's the whole momentum issue to deal with if she's //not// going to run into him. Her eyes narrow for a split second of thought, then she drops one leg, twisting her body to move into a low slide to one side of him.

Effective, but...in the end, she's crouched on the ground past him, giving him a long look from beneath her bangs. "Sorry," she says, sounding not the least bit so. "Kind of wasn't expecting cross-traffic."

Daken has posed:
Daken isn't bumped into, buth e does have amazing levels of perception. His eyes shift on over to find Rachel, her form crouched just a little bit past him. But then she's apologizing while not sounding sincere in her apology AT ALL and discusses his major crime of cutting her off.

"Well, more like my bad. Wasn't watching where I was going." He tilts his head at her for a moment. "Do I know you? I don't think we've met." Of course, since Daken was enclosing the distance between them to offer her his hand for a handshake, she might get a strong whiff of the pheromones he exhudes. Or it might not affect her. He does try to mask it with cologne, but it never works.

"Daken. Daken Akihiro." he introduces himself.

Marvel Girl has posed:
Rachel straightens up slowly, head tilting a bit as she tries to get a read on him. "No," she says after a moment, taking the offered hand. "Nope, you're new. Or I'm new. You're new to me." She pushes her other hand through her hair, shaking her head. "Sorry," she says again, though at least it sounds a little more sincere this time. "I was kind of in the zone."

Taking a breath, she squares her shoulder and actually grips his hand for a moment before releasing it. "Rachel. Grey. It's a long, weird story, but it usually explains the 'you look familiar' thing."

Daken has posed:
"Rachel -Grey-? I didn't know Jean had any immediate family." Daken comments but it seems like its a very long story that Rachel does -not- look like she wants to actually elaborate on, so he doesn't push. Instead, he just shrugs.

"No worries at all. I like meeting new people." a bit of a flirtatious tone with his words being given to her, but the hand is released after the brief shake and firm grip. "Nice to meet you, Rachel. Even if I've met you before." he chuckles deeply.

Marvel Girl has posed:
"Yeah, that's the long and weird part," Rachel replies with a faint smirk, though she does look toward the school when she says it. "But the good news is, you didn't miss anything. I'm just not really from around here."

She crosses her arms loosely over her chest, still giving him that speculative look. Like she's trying to put her finger on something, but she's not quite sure what it is. "Are you...from around here?" she asks after a moment. "Like, are you new? Or have I just missed you so far? I'm not exactly great at the being social thing."

Daken has posed:
Daken smirks just a little bit. "Oh good. Well, maybe one of these days you'll tell me where you're from. When you're actually ready, of course." Daken wasn't the type to push. He certainly wasn't the type to push on somebody he didn't really know. One day she might tell him and thats good enough.

While she crosses her arms, his hands stay in his pockets. "I mean, not unless you've needed tutoring or spent way too much time out here on the grasses. But, well, Logan's my father." Wolverine. "That might explain the similarity."

Marvel Girl has posed:
"Huh." Rachel purses her lips, then shakes her head. "No, definitely wouldn't have guessed that." Her lips quirk, a wry smile tugging at one corner. "Way too far from the crusty side of the spectrum."

Which is when it seems to hit her. The thing that's been itching at the back of her brain. She feels...comfortable. Pheremones: 1, Childhood trauma: 0. "Sorry. No, it's not a big secret or anything. Pretty sure it's made the rounds enough to be old news."

Dropping her hands to her pockets, she starts to walk, tipping her head to invite him to follow. Proper cool down is important. "I'm //literally// not from around here," she clarifies. "Different...timeline, universe, reality, whatever you want to call it. One where this place got taken out by Sentinels," she adds with a tip of her chin toward the school. "I knew the Logan there, but I haven't really gotten to know this one that well."

Daken has posed:
Daken looks at Rachel with a light smile touching his features as he looks upon her. "Hardy har har." He seems to roll with her sarcasm just a little bit. Hell, he could've been part of her timeline. Whether or not he's still alive or dead might be up to her. But then again, she didn't recognize him, so that counts for something.

"Stop apoligizing." He scolds her for a moment before he grins. "I'm easygoing." though then she starts telling him her origin story.

"A different universe and timeline? Wow, don't meet someone from one of those everyday." Hey, Daken's been alive for a REALLY long time. He's not gonna judge. He's met a lot of people on those adventures, after all.

"Was he friendlier than this one?"

Marvel Girl has posed:
"What, Logan?" Rachel quirks a brow, grin flashing. "Yeah, no. Wasn't //that// kind of a different world. Although we made our peace with Magneto. Valuable member of the resistance. Tutoring, huh?" she asks, keeping moving. "What do you tutor?" She gives him another up and down look, then a wry grin. "Fashion?"

Daken has posed:
Daken looks at Rachel with a bit of a chuckle. "Magneto? No bullshit?" Daken shrugs. "Wow, I'm a little impressed." When asked what he's tutoring in as she gives him an up and down look, Daken smirks.

"Math, Science, History, Geography...I'm a quick study and I've been around the block a few times. I'm a general studies kind of guy." He raises a brow.

"Why? Like what you see?"

Marvel Girl has posed:
Rachel looks over, brow brows rising with a laugh. "Nice. Points for style. No, I'm just failing at casual conversation. Impressive, right?" She reaches up to tap a finger at her temple. "I got the standard Grey set of tools. If I really need to learn something, I know how to get the info. I'm kind of more of the independent study sort anyhow. That, and I don't think anyone is quite ready to come up with some sort of individual plan to actually have me in classes."

Daken has posed:
Daken looks at Rachel with a bit of a smile. "I do like getting points." he seems to be enjoying teasing her just a little bit. But when she taps her head and proclaims that she's a telepath, Daken shrugs. "Suit yourself. Though technically thats cheating..." Daken smirks unashamedly, perhaps wondering how she felt on the matter.

But if she's from a distopian future where this place got burned to the ground by a LOT of Sentinels? Well, thats probably just a survival instinct to her.

"And, if you ask me, you're doing pretty well at that standard conversation."

Marvel Girl has posed:
"It's only cheating if there's some sort of...value to be gotten from doing it the hard way," Rachel shrugs, smirking. "No one's giving me a test on it, no one's worried about where it came from. I'm just catching up." She sets two fingers to her throat, checking her pulse. "Speaking of which, I should probably take another lap and cool down the right way."

She pushes up her sleeves, giving him another curious look. Being at ease is a strange feeling. "Nice meeting you, Daken. Maybe I'll see you around." And on that note, she's jogging off, keeping a slow pace.
