Profile

Maeve, pronounced May-v, is a third generation Japanese-American whose family runs a small set of pizza places in the Tri-State area. Originally this was a cover for their family, a clan of ninja who fled Japan long ago for political reasons. Today it's a cover for their family still, but in America. Not really a huge change, except that they save immense on petrol and have a wonderful reputation for prompt delivery.

Maeve Satonaka is fairly good at parkour, no surprise there, and can find your house even if the phone app is dead. Secret ninja technique, she actually knows how to read a map while doing rooftop scramble and can keep a delivery from spilling even under fire.

Because being a ninja clan, it's not always pizza.

Description

A rather normal-looking young Japanese lady in a delivery outfit. Tends to blend in rather well, except for her long ponytail and the 'Sato Pizza' emblazoned on her vest.

Average height, fairly fit build, and not trying to be pretty, she tends to be just another person in the crowd.

History

Maeve is a Metropolis brat from birth, with the usual ninja stuff going on. Well, assuming you consider normal ninja stuff to be suckling on shuriken as a kid and learning how to use acupuncture instead of French Immersion and cooking classes.

While yes, her phys ed might have been more intensive than you get at school, she wasn't totally left out; the family considers being able to blend into society to be crucial, and she not only got the basic education that everyone gets, she also got tossed out to learn on the streets regularly.

Mainly that meant parkour, and she quickly got noticed by the family as one of the more hopeful delivery girls. Starting her with pizza, they gave her some incredibly hard delivery times to start and got more insane from there. She's never failed to get the goods where they belong on time yet...so it's time to start using her for actual jobs.

Personality

Yeah, we need to talk. See ...no, just ignore the gunfire, it's not important anyway. Mom I need some time off friday. I know I told you I'd be there for the ninjutsu but it's just practice, we went over it last night. No, that wasn't my leg, that was one of theirs. Yeah, might be broken, can we keep on topic? Bad reception here, I might lose signal. I'm tired of working every day and Jules and me want to go see a movie.

...I mean, yeah, if you put it that way I can probably drop something on the way but you know she'll be in danger. ...well of COURSE I can keep her safe, but that's just rude. Sigh, no mom, I'm not saying you're rude, I'm trying to keep this from going into another guilt trip like every other time...

Put dad on the phone?

Abilities

SPEED SCROLL
With the ninjutsu speed enhancement course under her belt, Maeve is capable of really cutting loose and moving like a bat out of hell if she needs to do so. It's annoying, it takes a lot of energy and uses up one of her scrolls, but she is able to hit Mach 2 if she breaks out the magic. This is JUST running speed, and has no effect on her fighting or ability to do other actions. It is a magical spell though, and thus does not create a sonic boom. She's able to turn corners too, so hey, inertia is fun if you don't have to deal with it. The spells tend to last around ten minutes, but longer ones can be requested from the clan if needed.

Skills

FORGERY
This is part of the security skill, but requires special mention. Using the tools she carries in her pouch, Maeve can forge keys, copy pass cards, and if necessary forge documentation if she has enough time to do so in order to gain her access to secure facilities.

HAIR
The ponytail. This is her fun point, because for all the other traits Maeve is basically just a ninja. But her hair is about three feet long in the ponytail and is weaponized, with a weave that keeps it together and training in how to use it as an unexpected fighting tool. Maeve uses the weighted tip to allow her to use it as a striking tool, a grappling device, and occasionally has allowed her to sneak in the 15 inch bar she keeps hidden inside into places that she simply should not pass.

NINJITSU
The clan's ninjutsu training is second to none. Maeve's however is second to most of the rest of her family, and she'd rather run from a fight than actually engage. This does not mean that she's bad; by her family's terms, she's mediocre, but to the rest of the world she'd fall into the fifth dan black belt range and be considered a serious threat either with classic ninja weaponry or bare hands.

PARKOUR
Maeve is good at covering distance regardless of the obstacles involved. With a fair amount of acrobatic skill, she's become one of the best at moving from one point to another in complex environments at speed.

SECURITY
If there's a type of security in the world, Maeve either has been taught it or can be briefed on it. She is fully versed in how to rewire a camera on the fly and carries the basic tools to do so at all times. Picking pockets to get ahold of pass cards is a thing she does, and she has a solid ability to open locks, forge computer entries, and find all kinds of ways to get into a facility without setting off alarms.

STEALTH
With Maeve, stealth is kind of a way of life. If she's heard coming to a meal, she doesn't get to eat. If she's heard or seen making a delivery, she gets dinged on her ranking and loses various benefits, like bathroom privileges. A life like that leads one to be fairly good at the job and Maeve can sneak into nearly anyplace you'd care to name, shadow people if she chooses, and avoid cameras and guards like a shadow itself.

CLAN
The Satonaka clan is not a small ninja group. With a delivery parlor in each of the Tri-State cities, they deliver to any of the three with an excellent cover and the cover story of 'just a pizza delivery' has gotten many a member out of trouble more times than not. They are capable of training their members in not only all forms of standard ninja fare, but also of technology and some forms of scroll-based magic; a caveat, this training only comes if the ninja has earned it. And earning training is not done lightly.

DEBIT MACHINE
The Satonaka clan has adapted to the world of today. This gives them some small bonuses, in the form of the Debit at the Door machine that they carry around at all times. This is a highly advanced piece of tech that allows cards swiped through them to be copied and re-created using the printer in the base. It also allows simple one-use copes of electronic keys, and has the capability to give USB access to computer systems to allow security override. All in a small belt-sized package!

GEAR
The standard ninja gear is kept around, and disarming Maeve would be like disarming Russia during the cold war. She hides on her person at all times at a MINIMUM: one shortened ninjato sword, four throwing daggers, a nearly unlimited supply of shuriken and blowing needles, sleep poisons, instant-release grapple and spider web rope, climbing claws that double as weapon defense wrist guards, boot claws, several strips of silk, and a nearly unbreakable 15-inch metal rod she got for her birthday.

Weaknesses

FAMILY
While a massive bonus in many ways, being a ninja clan member has it's negatives as well. One does not get to just tell friends about it, and you are always on duty. This makes making friends at all to be problematic, since you can be pulled away at any time no matter how hot and heavy you were hoping to be with that tall dude at the party or that the movie was just getting to the good part and your friends were going for waffles after. And you can't tell them anything, nor can the police be allowed to know. Maybe superheroes can know, but just be careful there. They're not all trustworthy.

JUST HUMAN
Even with good training, Maeve can be taken down by a fairly standard rock to the head. Something like a bomb going off in her vicinity is going to ruin her good attendance record and she's just not cut out for god-level matchups in her normal outfit. Perhaps with a requisition she could get some armor, but it's not in her basic load out and she's basically pretty squishy.

REP
Most ninja clans have a bad rap. The Hand isn't exactly high on her happy list, and if she's identified as a member of the Satonaka Clan she's actually fairly likely to be targeted by them. Running from Japan was not a choice made without duress, and her family is hunted by nearly all the major evil ninja groups. This does occasionally make dropping off an order of wings into a major all-out battle to the death but that's what the reversible vest is for. Deniability.
