Veteran reporter Ned Leeds is a family man, amateur detective, and unknown to him, a daring supervillain. A friend of Peter Parker's and one of the Daily Bugle's best reporters, he tailed the wrong lead and ended up in the lair of Roderick Kingsley, the Hobgoblin. Kingsley sought to set aside his villainous persona as Hobgoblin without arousing suspicion, so he brainwashed Ned Leeds into an alternate persona as the Hobgoblin. After Roderick Kingsley left town with his substantial fortune intact, to avoid the closing authorities and superheroes, Ned Leeds replaced him inside the supervillain community of New York City as Hobgoblin. Hobgoblin is a lunatic and a daredevil, his button down, married life as Ned Leeds serving to fuel his shadow personality. When Hobgoblin's distant scramjet is heard over New York City, keep your head down, the devil is riding tonight.
