The daughter of a biomedical engineer and an accountant, Inolda has lived an average enough life by many means. Though her ability to communicate with animals has manifested since she was a small child, it has never granted her much special provision in the world. It did, however, come in handy when she completed her vet tech degree, as it gave her better insight into treatment and handling. Still, her life is relatively average on a whole, and her parents have accepted her difference, though they do like to know if their dog is enjoying the new kibble or not. Relatively introverted, Inolda finds her greatest friends to be her golden retriever mix and her ball python.

Description:
Inolda is not the type to stand out in a crowd, looks-wise. Of an average height and an average to slightly chubby body, there is nothing so unique about appearances. Muddy brown hair at current is in a short boycut, with bangs that reach just above her light blue eyes. Her hair has a windblown look to it almost constantly, despite any attempts to tame it with a comb. Her curves are feminine, though usually hidden beneath relatively baggy clothing.

The daughter of a biomedical engineer and an accountant, Inolda has lived an average enough life by many means. Her father was military, and they moved around often, giving her a varied environment but also inhibiting her ability to attach well to places or people. Attending public schools, she has not had the need to be separated as some do, with abilities that are not always the most intuitive but also not at a peril to her or others. Though her ability to communicate with animals has manifested since she was a small child, it has never granted her much special provision in the world. It may have even contributed to her introverted personality in many ways, as her ability does not extend to humanoids and she cannot glean any greater understanding without having to interact. Plus, you will immediately be labeled a freak if you claim to know what a cat is thinking. It did, however, come in handy when she completed her vet tech degree, as it gave her better insight into treatment and handling. Though she has dabbled in a range of specialties and species, she works now as a tech in a small city practice, tending mostly to dogs and cats with the occasional reptile or rodent.

Personality:
Introverted by nature, Inolda avoids large social interactions if she can. Despite not being comfortable with crowds, she is generally very friendly and willing to help however she can. Animals, of course, are still her favorite company. She does not always easily form attachments but, once bonded, she is fiercely loyal and sometimes protective of those she cares for. She is a bit of a science geek in general and loves most things sci-fi. When she isn't indulging in her geeky side, she's crocheting something or writing a weird poem to share with her internet friends. In person, she can be withdrawn at first but once warmed up has a sharp wit, a quick pun on her tongue at most times, and a keen sense of humor. At her core, she is motivated by a desire to do as much good as she can, and often has environmental motives for using her powers. Though not as glamorous as deflecting a meteor from a crash course with earth, it brings her deep satisfaction to, say, guide a problem bear to forage in the wild instead, or encourage a bird to nest in an area it won't be so harassed by activity.

Animal Communication:
Inolda can read the thoughts of and relay hers back to animals. Simplistic animals communicate only in senses such as sights and smells as well as things like fear, while more complex animals can speak in coherent thoughts. Exposure to a species makes their minds easier to meld, and so commonly seen animals are easier to communicate with than anything exotic or unfamiliar.

Weaknesses

Limited Audience:
Her ability works best one-on-one, regardless of the type of animal communicated with. While she can potentially broadcast to a wider number of individuals, incoming thoughts or information can easily overwhelm her, leaving her best suited to one animal or potentially a pair to meld with at one time.
Limited Range:
Her ability works best within the range of about a football field. This becomes a smaller range as the animal in question becomes smaller. So while a large dog might be able to be connected to at the full range, something smaller (and sometimes more useful) like a bird would require her to be significantly closer in order to ensure communication.
Social Settings:
Inolda is not good with crowds, and is even worse if she is made a public figure in the form of speech or performance. One on one interaction is okay, but more than a half dozen people or so sets off her nerves.
Strength and Mutation:
I would not count her as a fighter. Her lack of abilities could very well count as a weakness, seeing as her status of "mutant" might apply some sort of super strength or ability that would be of immediate advantage in a fight. She's not weak, per se, as her job can often require a lot of physical labor and lifting, but she's also no bodybuilder, and her strength serves her no further than any average human.
