The events of the film Big Trouble in Little China occurred in the Two Bridges neighbourhood Manhattan, New York, in 2024, leading to the destruction of the Wing Kong Exchange and the surrounding block in a blast of green fire. Following these events, Jack Burton remains a freelance trucker; Wang Chi and Miao Yin run the Dragon of the Black Pool Restaurant, with Eddie their maître d'; Egg Shen is still running his bus tours; and Gracie Law is still working to stand up for the little guy in Chinatown.

The Wing Kong and Chang Sing tongs are still active across North America, with a presence in Coast City, California; Gotham, New Jersey; New York, New York; Starling, British Columbia; and Vancouver, British Columbia. Both tongs continue to fight on again, off again battles. The Chang Sing had enjoyed an upper hand in these fights until 2026, when the Hand Clan took an interest in the Wing Kong, and begun backing them with men and resources.
