Walter White was a high school chemistry teacher at Happy Harbour High School (many of the Titans attend this school) in North Hempstead, Nassau County (Long Island), New York, and Jessie Pinkman was a former student of his. After Mr. White's cancer diagnosis, they began cooking together and eventually came into the employment of Gustavo Fring.

Los Pollos Hermanos is a much wider chain than depicted in the show, with restaurants throughout the country, and beyond. Hamlin, Hamlin, and McGill is a mid-level firm, rubbing shoulders with the Davis and Main (Saul Goodman briefly worked there), Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg, and Holliway (the firm She-Hulk works for), Hogarth, Chao, and Benowitz (Danny Rand's legal representation), Landman and Zack (where Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson were interns), and Schweikart and Cokely (where Kim Wexler works). Madrigal Electromotive GmbH, the parent company of Los Pollos Hermanos, and Gustavo Fring are represented by the law firm Wolfram and Hart.

Saul Goodman and Associates, despite the name, is a very small legal firm, with only one lawyer, the titular Saul Goodman. But "and associates" sounded better.

The cast of both shows are appable as AFCs, and possibly as VFCs.
