News Files: Buckaroo Banzai

An independent, non-profit, research organisation of ranking scientists, the Banzai Institute for Biomedical Research and Strategic Information is located an hour from New York City in Holland Township, Delta, Empire City, New Jersey. Overlooking a truly panoramic expanse of the Raritan River Valley, it is a forty-five-hectare haven for scholars of all disciplines, but the sciences in particular. It was founded in 2013 to fulfil a need of the scholarly community for greater continuity of research.

If a candidate is approved by the board it is given a key, a small monthly stipend ($2,200 in 2025), and a Spartan cell without electricity or running water, where it sleeps on a straw mat atop a wooden bunk. It arises at 4:00 AM, washes in cold water... it is not a place for everyone, yet they continually receive more applications than they have space for.
