Players at United Heroes are encouraged to play multiple characters. We track this via a system of Character Points. Each player has five (5) points, which can be occupied by several characters according to how many points each character takes up.

Character Type Points
App-Free Character(s) (AFC) 0-1 Point(s)
Feature Character(s) (FC) 0-1 Point(s)
Deluxe Feature Characters (DFC) 2 Points
Essential Feature Characters (EFC) 3 Points
Original Character(s) (OC) 0-1 Point(s)
Shelved Original Characters 0 Points
Original Space Character(s) (OSC) 0-1 Point(s)
Space Feature Character(s) (SFC) 0-1 Point(s)
Villainous Feature Character(s) (VFC) 0-1 Point(s)

For the characters with a 0-1 listed, that simply means you get the first character of that type for free! If you apply for an additional character of the same type, each one will cost you one (1) point from your total allotted points. For example, if you are playing an FC such as The Thing from the Fantastic Four and no other FC level character, he costs you zero (0) points. If you apply for an alternate FC such as Hawkeye, he would cost you one (1) point. If you pick up a third, that would cost another one (1) point. And so forth.

  • EFCs and DFCs do NOT allow for you to have the first alt free. They always cost towards your points value.
  • No player may ever have two Essential Feature characters at the same time.

Multiple Characters

You are more than welcome to have multiple FCs, provided they meet the following criteria:

  • All activity policies will be enforced per character regardless of how many characters you have. For example, if you have 1 FC and 1 DFC, you will be expected to meet activity requirements for both of them.
  • Under no circumstances should your characters ever directly interact with each other. Indirect interaction should also be avoided whenever possible.
  • By default, character limits are issued by site. If some situation obliges you to have the same site address as another player, for example, a sibling, roommate, or partner, talk to a member of staff.
  • Only you should play or login as your characters. Having someone else login your character can be grounds for ejection from the character.
  • Players can only have one character in the application process at a time.
  • Players must be active and have a 1UP on all of their characters in order to start a new application.
  • If you lose a character due to inactivity, you cannot reapply for seven (7) days. This does not apply to OC/OSCs.

Can I get more points?

It is possible to have more than five points worth of characters. But this is not done lightly. If you are a dedicated and active player, staff will consider raising your limit on a case-by-case basis. You can include your justification for this in the request (see +help +job). No player may have two EFCs at the same time. Extra points will not be granted to allow for it.

Extra Points and Idling

If you previously have been approved for extra point(s), but you idle with any of your existing characters, the extra point(s) will be removed. Your current characters will be grandfathered in so they won't be taken away, but as you drop, you won't get those extra points back. This will continue until you return to the original five points.

If you voluntarily drop back down to the original five points, your extra points will be removed. You can always re-apply when you wish to exceed the original five points. Changing characters, for example dropping a character in order to apply for someone else, is fine so long as you are not in the grandfathered situation referenced above.
