Profile

Born Karl Lykos, son of a former sailor serving as a guide in Tierra del Fuego. During an expedition, Karl ran off to rescue a girl who had wandered away from the group, only to find her under attack by pteradons in a cave deep in the mountains, suffering injuries that would later manifest themselves as a constant hunger for life energy which he could absorb from living creatures. Keeping it secret as he grew, studied and became a psychiatrist, Karl quietly fed on his patients while they were under hypnosis. It would not be until he accidentally stole the life energy of a mutant that the true depths of his change were realized, as he became the monstrous were-pteradacyl known as Sauron.

ENERGY BLASTS

Able to absorb eletrical energy from machines and devices and fire it from his hands in Sauron form.

FIRE BREATH

Karl can breathe fire in Sauron form with the approximate range of a modern flamethrower. The fire produced is strong enough to inflict third degree burns on even some of the most durable characters (such as Hercules).

FLIGHT

Naturally able to fly due to his wings in Sauron form. Highly maneuverable in the air.

GIFTED INTELLECT

Karl Lykos is gifted with genius level intellect and can rapidly solve problems and learn new information.

HYPNOSIS

In Sauron form, Karl is able to induce a hypnotic trance in individuals who look into his eyes. Under the hypnosis effect, Sauron frequently causes the victims tend to see their own worst nightmares and fears. Strong willed individuals or those with mental powers can break out of these delusions quickly.

LIFE-FORCE ABSORPTION

Through skin to skin contact, Karl is able to absorb the life energy of others. As Karl, he only takes small amount, but contact with powered beings triggers his transformation into Sauron.

NATURAL WEAPONS

In Sauron form, Karl posses a sharp beak and talons on his hands and feet.

POWER ABSORPTION

If Karl absorbs the life force of a powered individual (mutant, metahuman, alien, etc) he will temporarily gain a portion of their powers. The more energy he takes, the greater the portion.

JEKYLL & HYDE

Sauron perpetually exists as a facet of Karl Lykos' makeup, a second personality that threatens to take over at any opportunity. Like Jekyll and Hyde, the two are aware of each other. Karl operates daily under the mental strain of keeping Sauron at bay. Likewise, when transformed into Sauron, Karl's personality and willpower are working against him, causing him to behave in erratic ways or to lose focus on his current goals.

REPTILIAN THINKING

As Sauron, Karl's mind is keenly focused on conquest, power, territory and violence. He thinks like a dinosaur rather than a human being, and behaves as such. He focuses on his own gain and wellbeing and can be quick to turn on allies when they have outlived their usefulness. He believes that reptiles and other ancient creatures are superior life forms and looks down on mammals as being unworthy upstarts in the hierarchy of dominant life forms.

SAURON-FORM

Karl must live with the consequences of what ever evils Sauron has done while in control - meaning he could lose homes, jobs, standing in the scientific community, or even loved ones.

SAVAGE LAND

Sauron believes himself to be the legitimate ruler of Savage Land (regardless of what anyone else has to say about it) and will invest considerable time and effort into maintaining his "rule". Even hearing that someone might have usurped his assumed authority will make him drop whatever he is doing to go reassert his dominance.
