Profile
Alyssa Reid is not really special, at least at first look. Sure, she's quite pretty and more often than not carries a friendly smile on her lips, but, appearance-wise? Just your typical blonde, the kind of blonde the uneducated would call 'dumb' from stereotype alone. It's when someone dares to approach and get to know her that her real self shines: she is a fun-loving girl, quite smart, and always eager to lend a hand to those who need it.
Also, Alyssa doesn't like to think of this as a 'double-life', but she does has an 'alternate persona'. True, the two are not too different from one-another, but it is required when one tries to keep their real identity when wearing spandex and risking your life to protect the people around her!

Before you stands the heroine known as Spanner. The first thing noticeable about her is her lack of a mask covering her face, with her long golden blonde hair left unbound to the winds, face fully exposed, showcasing her piercing grey eyes. Her lips curled quite often in a smile, sometimes a mischievous one. Whether it's a show of confidence or just to taunt her adversaries, hard to tell at glance. As for her uniform, it consists of a blue full-body suit, covering her entire body up to her neck. Details of the outfit consist of darker blue highlights, in the form of an inverted V pattern going from her neck, down over her breasts and wrapping around her torso to form the pattern again to rejoin the neck on the back. There are also a dark blue wraparound on both her upper arms, as well as a 'V'-styled 'belt' pattern around her waist. To finish the outfit, she wears golden gloves and boots, the same color as her hair, with the boots going all the way up to her knees on a round kneepad, and the boots themselves having one-inch heels.

Alyssa's childhood was just as normal as any New York kid. Upper-middle-class, studying in a private school, good grades, great gymnast, she even did some extra-curricular activities like cheerleading and learning martial arts... until puberty decided to kick in, and so while the other girls were dealing with hormones and new desires, Alyssa had to deal with her body apparently rebelling against her, and not really in a metaphorical way. Her entire body became... limp. Noodly. As if, overnight, someone broke into her home and somehow stole her skeleton. Luckily, her parents weren't the kind that believed mutants "were the devil", and actually tried to help their child. Unfortunately, this was a task far beyond their expertise. However, a representative of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters came one day at their door, offering special tutoring as well as helping her deal with her current condition. With literally no idea how to help their daughter in her present situation, they agreed, and so Alyssa moved to Xavier's School, where she learned to take the reins of her rebellious body, learning how her powers worked, all its strength and weaknesses. With her confidence returned now that she could control herself and act normally, Alyssa remained at the X-school to finish her education, as well as returning to studying some martial arts for self-defense on her spare time. After high-school graduation, she took higher education in P.E., to become a teacher or personal trainer, as well as learning massage techniques.

Persevering. Energetic. Optimistic. Those are the three words that describe Alyssa the best. She's almost always in a sunny mood, doing her best to share her disposition with others around her. That also includes stressful situations, as she believes that allowing your spirits to be brought down is the first step towards defeat. And you can't be the kind of person with a sunny disposition if you keep yourself planted like a tree, right? That means Alyssa likes to exercise, from athletic and gymnastic exercising to simple jogs around the park. Moving her body helps her feel better, working out her stress by helping her mind off things and into more positive thoughts.

BODY MALLEABILITY
Spanner's body is elastic. Meaning she can elongate any part of her body, or her entire body, up through some long distances. She has full control over her body's malleability, able to wrap around objects and people to bind them, or flatten herself near paper-thin while still remaining fully mobile. She also possesses minor shapeshifting abilities, like being able to re-shape her hands into the form of round maces or hammer heads, and even shaping her body into basic shapes to blend with the environment. This allows her to slip under doors and other cracks normal people cannot pass through, and even pick locks without the need for tools, by thinning her finger into said lock.
DURABILITY
Being malleable has another perk: her body is basically immune to blunt force trauma. It does not matter how strong the blunt impact is, she will not get physically hurt from it, though it can still leave her quite disoriented if it's too strong a blow, or many blows in rapid succession.
ENHANCED SPEED
Spanner can run and move at normal human speeds, however the speed at which she can elongate her body are much greater than normal human movement. She can elongate herself and her limbs at over twice the average running speed of an athlete.
ENHANCED STRENGTH
Her mutation also confers Alyssa with a degree of enhanced strength. She's stronger than your average person, being able to even flip over a car, even lift it with some effort if it's not a big car. She can lift other people without much effort as long as they're not too big (your average person), as well.

Before her mutation happened, Alyssa was already quite the flexible and agile girl at her school, thanks to her participation in both the gymnast and cheerleading clubs. Her skill wasn't anywhere near that of an athlete or circus performer, but she did pretty well for a high-schooler. She once got third place in an inter-school tournament when she was fourteen.
HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT
Alyssa also had some basic martial arts still before her powers manifested. She wasn't more than initiate level, but at least she learned how to throw a proper punch. Having your body basically turn into Jell-O kind of made martial arts (or any movement, really) real hard, so Alyssa had to stop. Eventually, after mastering her new powers, she took more self-defense lessons, which she then worked at home to adapt her elastic powers to her advantage in a melee situation, since her body is impervious to blunt force. She is no pro fighter, but she does know a lot of grapple and binding moves, usually using her elastic body to bind her adversaries.
MASSEUSE
After graduating high school, while pursuing her higher education going for P.E., Alyssa also took massage training to complement her studies. She studied it enough that she was given a certificate that would allow her to work as a masseuse if she so desired.

Alyssa does have a pretty voice, and she can sing rather well. But where she shines is when she picks up a guitar. Alyssa's parents, Jonathan and Sofia Reid, are still alive, and living on their own at a simple, cozy home in the suburbs of Westchester County. Alyssa still visits them, every now and then. She also has an older sister, Felicia Reid, who is five years older than her, currently living in Washington DC, working as a real state agent. Alyssa and her sister initially had a very healthy relationship, but after her powers manifested, Felicia grew distant, speaking with her sister less and less, sometimes being almost hostile, and finally stopping speaking altogether after she left for Washington. Alyssa believes her sister simply does not like mutants, when, in truth, her sister was just terribly jealous of Alyssa.
GUITAR
After learning how to play the guitar, and quite enjoying it, Alyssa got a guitar for herself. Old school, wooden guitar, which she loves to pieces!

Alyssa has her smartphone with her, which is being constantly tracked by the X-school's systems to know where she is, and which she can use to 'ping' the school to let the staff know she is in trouble, if needed be.

It also confers her minor protection against piercing and slashing, but nothing that could even come close to stopping a bullet or a cut from a very sharp object.

Spanner cares about the well-beings of others, first and foremost, so it's not hard for a villain to use it against her, using an innocent as a shield, or threatening harm to them. In the majority of the situations, Spanner will choose not to gamble with the innocents' lives to try to stop the bad guy from escaping.
NON-BLUNT ATTACKS
While her powers give her great resistance to blunt hits, attacks that pierce or cut, like an arrow or a blade, still affect her as it would any normal person.
