Profile

Amanda Reed was a teenage prostitute who disappeared at the age of 19. She appeared a few years later, now possessing a symbiote and super-human powers. Convicted of murder she was sent to a high security prison. In recent months her name has been cleared of the murder charge and she is living again in New York City.

Taboo is the name of the symbiote/Reed union when she allows it to be active. Daemonite in origin, requiring blood to survive, it grants Amanda great abilities.

ARMOR

The Symbiote forms a protective chitin-like armor around Taboo with the following traits: 
The symbiote manifests itself as a body hugging but vicious looking suit of bio-metallic armor black-purple in color. If the armor is breached, it is self healing as long as it has blood to draw upon. Its first preference is its host, Amanda. Otherwise it can be fueled by coercing Amanda to drink someone else's blood. The bio-armor is able to stop handgun bullets up to .44 caliber. It offers multiple built in defenses and weapons that Taboo makes great use of: 

Wings: Responding to Taboo's thoughts, the bio-armor can sprout large bat-like wings from her shoulder blades that allow her full flight abilities. The membranes between the ribs are translucent but extremely durable, requiring a high caliber gun or a tempered blade to slash. But as long as the symbiote has blood to draw upon, the damage can be repaired in short order.

Tail: A prehensile whip-like tail can be produced from the base of Taboo's spine. It can be as short as one meter or lengthened to as much as 30 meters, making it useful as a safety line or as a means to restrain enemies. It can lift up to 300lbs and sprout razor sharp edges to cut or slash. The tip can be shaped into a diamond hard piercing tip or a ball that weighs up to twenty pounds used to smash or crush like a sledge hammer or a spiked morning star. She can also form her legs into a mermaid-like tail by covering them with the bio-armor to be able to swim faster.

Claws: the suit can transform Taboo's fingers into razor sharp claws. While nothing like Adamantium, they are able to deeply scar metal and easily pierce or slash more organic substances. She can also grow webbing between her fingers to allow for more efficiency in swimming.

Wrist Whips: As with the tail, she can summon one prehensile whip from the back of each wrist that can be used as weapons or jump lines. They have a maximum length of 50 meters and can support up to 500lbs. They can also become weapons like her tail.

Bio-Electric Blasts: Able to project the very energy that the suit generates as projected blasts with a range of 100 meters. The blasts are strong enough to blast basketball sized chunks out of reinforced concrete, short out a car's electrical system or just stun a living target much like a taser.


PHYSICAL

In addition to the armored protection and weapons the suit grants Taboo, it also alters her senses and physical abilities as follows: 

Vision: The vampire DNA gives Taboo dark and heat vision enabling her to see as vampires do in virtually any situation. It is possible to blind her as with any natural optics by using a bright flash of light or explosion.

Domination: Taboo can make use of the ability to dominate or hypnotize others by drawing on the symbiote's vampire heritage. She can make them "remember" or forget things, or follow her commands. Level of success depends on the willpower of the individual she has targeted.

Enhanced Traits: The symbiote has granted physical enhancements to Amanda as well:

Strength: As Taboo she can lift up to a full sized crew cab pickup truck.

Dexterity: As Taboo, she has the dexterity and balance of an Olympic gymnast or professional acrobat.

Reflexes: The symbiote has absorbed into her system, increasing her ability to react to situations. Can she dodge bullets? Not in the movie sense, but she has the quickness to make it extremely hard to target her to begin with.

Healing: It is said that life is in the blood. In Amanda's case that is completely true. The symbiote can heal her from even the brink of death as long as it has blood to use to draw power from - either Amanda's or someone else's. It doesn't care.

Shape Shift: Amanda can adopt other (human) appearances. She can use this as a disguise for up to six hours. It allows her to change hair, eye and skin color as well as change body shape, weight or height.

Immune System: Amanda is immune to all human-borne viruses and infections because of the symbiote. She doesn't get colds, can't get the flu or any transmitted diseases or virus. She does not appear to age, can expel poisons from her body by purging blood through the surface of the suit, and cannot be suffocated.

Psychic Shielding: The symbiote is a jealous lover in that it does not want anyone interfering with Amanda's mind. It shields her from all but the strongest telepathic assaults (Jean, Xavier, Emma for example), or efforts to hypnotize or mentally reprogram her.

No Heat Signature: Vampires are living dead. The symbiote is no different. It draws its energy from Taboo's blood. An outward indication of this is Taboo's ghostly white flesh. Another is that it absorbs her body heat making her virtually invisible to all forms of heat sensors.

SKILLS

Amanda has the following skills: 

Acrobatics: How to tumble and flip and roll. She's developed her own form and style that works with the abilities her symbiote armor affords her that is very effective, if untraditional.

Balance: The symbiote's altering of her body has given her an increased sense of balance that makes her very difficult to knock down or topple.

Bluffing: Amanda would be a brutal opponent in a poker game. Her years on the street taught her how to hide her opinions, use body language and mannerisms that mask her intentions. While adopting a persona that is not her true self, she can become unreadable even when looking someone dead in the eyes.

Seduction: A girl might be gorgeous and have a great body but that will only get her a John. Seduction and giving him the time of his life is how a working girl picks up extra tip money she doesn't have to report to her pimp, right? It's more than that, though. She knows how to use her body, use clothing, and body language to get someone's blood boiling for her.

Stealth: Amanda learned as a girl how to hide and be silent. It often was how she avoided the beatings from her father. She never forgot those lessons and, given her symbiote's abilities, can now blend into shadow and remain motionless for up to an hour without needing to move. It's bio-armor covers her feet such that she can move with no more noise than a house cat.

Steetwise: Amanda knows how to spot pimps, pushers and the street walkers. She knows where to go to get information, how to talk to the street's inhabitants and how to 'bargain' with them to get what she wants from them. She was a prostitute for almost five years. She knows the 'work' and she was extremely good at it. She knows the tricks and techniques to get Johns, she knows how to spot undercover cops. Most of the time. She knows the 'hustle' of cops that trade quickies for looking the other way and she knows the routine of being hauled down to precinct and processed as a hooker and the stigma of being looked down upon by the "good people" of society.

Pickpocket: Amanda learned early on that she had nimble fingers. She is a skilled pickpocket - how better to get revenge on cheap Johns who won't pay out the rate for a quality girl?

Unarmed Fighting: Amanda knew street fighting early on - a girl has to protect herself on the streets. Once she was taken by the Cabal, she learned far more about how to fight using her symbiote's armor and generated weapons. She has developed her own style of fighting using her own unique abilities.

Apartment: Amanda has a small apartment, some would consider it a rat hole, sure. But it's -her- rat hole. She has decent furniture given the location of the apartment but it's nothing she'd be upset to have stolen.

Symbiote: The symbiotic suit that Amanda was forced to test is infused with the DNA of the father of all Daemonite vampires, Calobis. For a reason unknown to herself or to Lilitu, the vampire queen wishing to have the suit for her own uses, the suit has bonded to Amanda and cannot be taken from her. It offers a number of powers and abilities detailed further in this section, but all of it's powers are drawn from Amanda's own blood as its source of sustenance.

Contacts: Amanda still has friends on the streets. If she wants information, needs help or a place to hide out, she has people she can go to that are willing to help her.

WEAKNESSES


Blood: The symbiote is vampiric in nature, made by using the DNA of Calobis, the father of all Daemonite vampires, into the engineered suit. The only way it will function is through its consumption of blood. In times of great exertion, it will have to go beyond Amanda for its blood-fuel for risk of killing its host/itself. This manifests as a blood frenzy, leaving Taboo a vicious blood drinking killing machine her allies must stop. Therein lies the rub.

Control Issues: As with any symbiotic union, there are control issues. Amanda cannot always keep the symbiote's blood lust under control but has learned how to do this most of the time anyway.

Checkered Past: Amanda was a prostitute for five years. She was picked up by the police several times for solicitation and drug charges. She had an abusive father. She isn't proud of either aspect but doesn't deny them. But others may view her as a whore, or a weak victim for living with her father so long before leaving. Stigmas are difficult things.

Education: Amanda was out and on the streets by 15 and hooking/doing drugs shortly afterwards. She has the equivalent of a 10th grade education. She isn't stupid though, while street-smarts can offset some of this deficiency, she simply hasn't had the benefits of a full/higher education.
