The All-Important Briefing
Date of Scene: 31 December 2019
Location: Belle Reve
Synopsis: Cammy briefs Rick Flag on a possible mission.
Cast of Characters: Cammy White, Rick Flag

Cammy White has posed:
In the early morning, Cammy walks into Belle Reve stoically, carrying a mysterious manilla folder. She glances at those guarding the entryway and she walks up to the door personnel, dressed in her military camo pants and jacket. She unzips her jacket and holds up her personnel badge, and tells them why she's here, signs a clipboard, and is buzzed through security. After a few more roadblocks, Cammy finally trapses up to RICK FLAG's office, but finds no secretary waiting there to greet her and give her assurances like many professional offices with endless red tape like in SHIELD or in the Real World <tm>. With the door open, Cammy walks into Rick Flag's office to wait for him and sits down in the little chair in front of the desk.

Rick Flag has posed:
It's not long before Flag arrives in the office, hauling a soiled duffel bag filled with--well, something. He drops it on the floor with a metallic THUD and walks to his desk.

"Hi there ... Agent, I figure?" Flag asks. "Your style smells more SHIELD than US military. But then, there are so many covert groups I can't even keep track any more."

"So," he continues, leaning against his desk and folding his arms across his chest, "what brings you here? Looking to find space for someone in SHIELD custody?"

Cammy White has posed:
Cammy stands up from her chair to shake Rick Flag's hand professionally and also to hand over the manilla folder, "Agent White," she reminds him, "From SHIELD, yes. Nice...facility," she says with some concern. She purses her lips and then tilts her head to watch him examine the folder, "This isn't a fully...official visit, Colonel, so don't go quoting me. But I have been working on several inquiries including that one that aren't really a high priority. I thought maybe you might want to put in for a joint operation on that one. I could brief you. But otherwise, maybe we could do some actual military ops," she states with some disdain, maybe for red tape or inaction or maybe for his casual attitude.

Rick Flag has posed:
"Alright," Flag replies, frowning slightly as he receives the handshake. "Not-fully-official is my SOP these days, so at least that much doesn't seem strange to me."

He flips through the folder's contents. "If you're not here for the real estate, then you must be here for the Squad--ah, that is, the task force."

Flag raises an eyebrow as he looks at Cammy. "So, Agent White, what kind of under-the-table support are you looking for? I've got to say ... the fact you've come to me rather than Waller has me /very/ intrigued. But it also means that things will be even dicier than usual."

Cammy White has posed:
Cammy crosses her legs as she sits in the little chair again, "Whatever you call it, bloody work needs to get done and you need to put in for these ops," she tells him with a bit of an edge, using her British agressiveness, but then she smiles a little and adds, "I mean, I would appreciate it, Colonel. I can provide field support and do liason work, scouting, whatever--" she begins to explain then stops and pauses, pursing her lips with disdain again. "I'm not the best at politics and the whole works is getting more complex by the minute. I thought coming in on the ground floor was a good way to go. Was I wrong?" she wonders.

Rick Flag has posed:
"Oh?" Flag raises an eyebrow again. "So would it be safe to assume that, because you need me to run these plans past Waller to get the task force approved for field use, that this is something that /other/ high-ranking types need to be kept in the dark about?"

He continues flipping through the folder's contents. "I'm not /complaining/, mind you. But if I have to do some finessing, I need to know that up front. We're probably of a kind. I'm not the best slick-talker, either. But if it's worth it ... I'll do it. So," he adds, "how is it worth it?"

Cammy White has posed:
"SHIELD thinks HYDRA has a facility on a Taiwanese island," Cammy points out, "It's highly contraversial soveignty down there, Colonel. These little islands are often just ignored for that reason, because nobody wants to get into it with each other. Right in the middle of international waters, nobody cares. Isn't that interesting?" she says with some note of irony, "But what's not in the file is I have it on personal record that The Dolls operate in that area, highly dangerous special mission...operatives. So yeah, it might take some smoothing, quick talking---whatever. I asked to do a reconassaince mission but it's not priority, so I guess it's not SHIELD's priority."

Rick Flag has posed:
Flag stands silent for a moment, nodding in thought. "I see," he finally states. "So it's not so much that this is a particularly important mission, but rather it's just one that SHIELD doesn't want to expend the resources for?"

He laughs and shakes his head. "Well ... I've been pitched worse. I figure there's likely something /possibly/ important to learn or recover from the island. Do you know what?" Flag grins. "Would you even tell me if you did?"

Cammy White has posed:
With a frown, Cammy adds, "It's strategically important, I suppose. You see, I don't really...know who they are. I mean, I don't...think I've ever heard of them until recently when they came up on a field report. I've read the reports and I've see them through a scope from 200 meters but that's it. I think HYDRA might be training agents similar to us over here," she explains. "The red tape to get the resources is impossible," she says and then smirks, "I guess it's important as we make it."

Rick Flag has posed:
"Alright," Flag says, nodding as he rubs his chin. "Fair enough. So, then, let me ask you this: what's in it for the Squad?" He sighs, placing both hands on the desk before he rolls his head about from shoulder to shoulder.

"I know they'll want to know. See--normally, we get sent on missions, we motivate the team. Hardened criminals don't respond to much. Time off the sentence, threat of violence for insubordination, that kind of thing." He clears his throat. "How do you want me to sell them on this? SHIELD got something to offer?"

Cammy White has posed:
Cammy motions to herself helpfully, "Well, one thing, you'll get my help on other missions. I guess that doesn't mean much to the men but if you don't want to put the "suicide" in the "Suicide" Squad, maybe I could help," she says and then shrugs, "As for the men, I don't really have a bloody bribe ready at the moment," she chuckles and shakes her head, "Maybe I could get some mission equipment from the operations division. Or some new pillows."

Rick Flag has posed:
The colonel chuckles and grins a toothy grin. "You know something?" he asks. "That might actually entice some of them."

He pushes himself off the desk and wipes his palms off on one another. "Alright, Agent White. I'll see what I can do to get Waller on board. Once she's sold, everyone else will be, too--whether they think so at first or not."

Flag extends his hand for a shake. "Although I hope you won't take it personally if I tell you that I suspect the team will still be aptly called the 'Suicide' Squad for a while to come yet."

Cammy White has posed:
Cammy stands up and takes Rick Flag's hand, then smiles knowingly, "No, I won't. Just trying to help make it something other than a certainty," she tells him. "Thanks for your time, Colonel. You're very nice to take the time to speak to me. Think about it, get back to me," she suggests, "Text, email, whatever."

Rick Flag has posed:
With a nod, Flag holds up the folder. "Absolutely. I'll make contact with SHIELD the normal way, which is to just say various politically charged words near my laptop or phone. I figure that's usually how I get your organization's attention."

He looks to the door. "If you schedule the next visit early enough, we can probably even get you a tour to see who we've got on the roster. But I figure you have some sense of that already. Ah, the things that could be done with the kind of budget you've got access to ..."

Flag shakes his head and chuckles again. "I'll keep you informed. I promise."
