Harry Dresden has posed:
It's been a week. Not only did he blow his magical wad all in a massive firestorm a week ago which caused him to pass out, but that amount of power that coursed through his system all at once shorted out whatever it is that tends to keep him healthy.

HArry has a cold

This is not something he is used to, at all, and so he looks miserable as his is sitting behind his desk with his head down and a opened, half-drunk, bottle of DayQuil sitting near his right hand.

Amethyst has posed:
Amy has been having a distinct lack of success in her attempts to research and learn things. Largely because most people who are in the know about magic don't exactly tend to make that fact known. It's hard to see from the outside in.
And then there's the one listing under "wizard" in the phone book.

Amy's been trying to reach Harry for a while. But Harry and cell phones don't mix, and she's had no luck reaching him in his office. So, finally, she's hauled herself out to this part of town. She even tried looking for him at Mac's, after hearing he tended to frequent the place. But, she's not one to give up easily, and so she knocks at the door of his office once again.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Groaning like a newly animated zombie, the Wizard Harry Dresden moans a "Come in, it's open." as he lifts his head up from the desk and tries to make himself look at least a little bit presentable. He combs his fingers through the mess of hair on his head, only making it stick out in other places and not really helping at all. He clears his throat a few times, and tries to take a deep breath to center himself, only to throw his mouth into the crook of his elbow and cough.

Amethyst has posed:
And in comes the blonde. She's dressed in modern clothing rather than her more fantasy-esque attire. She's in jeans, ankle boots, purple t-shirt, and a grey jacket. Amy walks in, smile on her face now that she knows she's found the person she's been looking for.

"Hey there. Harry Dresden?" she asks, as she approaches, looking around the office. When she hears the cough, she frowns slightly. "You sound terrible."

Harry Dresden has posed:
"OH good, then the impression of how I feel is the one I am putting forth." says Harry as he grabs the bottle of Dayquil and takes a sip like he is drinking from a Coke bottle. "But to answer your question, yes, I am Harry Dresden...or what is left of him anyway. What can I do for you that hopefully doesn't involve me moving very much for the next few hours."

Amethyst has posed:
"Your advertisement says you're a wizard. Are you actually? Because I've found a lot of people who claim to be involved with magic and don't do anything but a lot of trickery." She stops on the other side of the desk. "I need someone familiar with the magical history of this world. Preferably someone who can do some research."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "Those would be magicians, I am a wizard." says Harry as he sighs, taking another breath that isn't so deep this time. "I don't know much about magical history off the top of my head, but research I can do." The fact that Bob is a fount of magical history does not hinder research in the slightest. "In fact, I would have to say I have one of the best research assistants you can get this side of the NeverNever.""

Amethyst has posed:
"That sounds perfect." She takes a deeper breath. "My name is Amaya of House Amethyst, and I come from a place called Gemworld. I would like to hire you to help me with some research. And to be my...well, my local Earth expert." She reaches into a pocket. "Here. Proof, good faith payment, and well...a little help." She offers out a ruby in her open palm about the size of a peanut. It's infused with magic, for those who can sense such things.

Harry Dresden has posed:
The sight of the ruby causes Dresden to blink and sit up. If he wasn't paying attention before, he certainly is now. "Is that thing real?!?" Harry moves to take the ruby, feeling the magic from is as he moves his hand closer to take it. "Wait." he says, pulling his hand back quickly before he touches the ruby. "Are you a fairy? One of the Sidhe, because I am not going to fall for that twice. I know better than to take a gift, or make any bargains. Mab or Lea didn't put you up to this, did they?"

Amethyst has posed:
"I'm not of the fae. I'm as human as you are. Just not from this world. And it's real. It's infused with a healing spell. Use it and get rid of your cold. You should be able to trigger it. And the stone itself can be your initial pay, assuming that's acceptable to you." Amy says, as she looks back to him.

"I don't know anyone by those names. But I do know to be cautious around fae. If you have cold iron, you can test me." She extends her hand again, palm up.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Wearily Harry looks between the stone and Amy and her palm, back and forth multiple times before he very slowly reaches out and takes the ruby from her hand.

He pauses, flitching slightly as if waiting for some email, nasty thing to happen to him the moment his fingers touch the rock before he straightens up and stares at the rock for a moment more. "No, I trust you. If you are offering up to cold iron, than I will trust you. Yes...yes that will be just fine as a payment. I must say, though, I am not familiar with 'Gemworld'. That one is new to me?"

Amethyst has posed:
Nothing at all happens, unless he invokes the magic within. Beyond that, it's just a very valuable gemstone. "Well, that would be part of what I want you to research. Our oldest legends call this world First Home. We came from here. But we don't know anything about those days. The truth is lost. I want to find it out. And while I know a lot more about Earth than most of my people, trying to find REAL information about magic has proven really problematic."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods, slipping the ruby into the top desk drawer. "I see. Well, I feel I need to be upfront Ms....uh...Amethyst. There is a possibility I may not be able to find anything at all. I could come up with something, and find an entire timeline for your people, or I can find diddly. I can't be sure until I go down that road, but I don't want you leaving here with any false expectations. That wouldn't be fair to you, and I wouldn't want to give you false hope. That being said, I will do what I can. If I can find out anything, I will..and I think I might have a better chance than most. How would I be able to reach you with updates?"

Amethyst has posed:
"Well, that's part of my problem. I'm rather a new arrival here from Gemworld, Mr. Dresden. I don't have legal paperwork, and most of my money is in the form of precious gems. That would be the second thing I mentioned to you. A local expert. I'm hoping you can point me the right direction to have a place to stay for at least a semi-long term."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden hrms. "I mean, it wouldn't be anything glamorous, but there is a church not far from here, Saint Mary of the Angels. If you walk around to the back and knock on the service entrance, the father there might be able to help you with a room and a hot meal or two until you can find something more permanent. Or at least until I can 'cash out' one of these gems and get you set up with spending currency." HArry reaches up and scratches at the stubble on his cheek, "Paperwork might be more tricky. I am not sure what I can do for you there. I don't exactly have contacts in that area of expertise."

Amethyst has posed:
"Well, anything you can do to point me in the right direction is something. Preferably close, if we're going to be working on this for a bit." Amethyst states. "So in the short term, I guess I'll just have to check back in with you, at least till there's someplace I can be contacted more permanently. If there's nothing else, I'll let you be. You really should use that to get rid of the cold, though." she suggests.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Glancing to his desk drawer, Harry nods once. "Yeah, I might at that. I've never really had a cold before. I don't know how people manage to go on like this." he says with a shake of his head. "I feel like my brain is swimming in some form of viscous fluid, that subsequently wants to stuff up and leak out of my nose at the same time. This is horrible."

Harry sighs, combing his fingers through his hair again. "I'll see what I can do about finding you a place. I'll ask around, see if anyone has any better ideas. Maybe someone knows something I don't about housing for the identity challenged."

Amethyst has posed:
"It's appreciated. If you find out anything, leave a message for me at Mac's? That was a nice place." Amethyst suggests. "I'll get out of your hair." she offers, and gives a little wave, before starting for the door.
