Flex has posed:
Adrian is waiting in line for his coffee order, with a morning paper folded under his arm. He needs to get serious about finding a place to stay. He can only stay in the hotel so long. Apartments are SO expensive here though, worse than Toronto by a long shot.
Just another guy with brown hair waiting in a line in New York on a Saturday morning.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
It's a cold Saturday morning, and Mercy's at the Coffee Bean earlier than usual, 8am give or take...and she's here for much....much needed coffee. Given she runs her own business she rolled out of bed at a little past five and has been in the garage ever since. The 8am comes from her phone, which is barely a smartphone. Ah the joys of living within your means as a business owner...and living within whatever Mercy makes.

So she joins the line, already grumpy and with oil stained fingers, though she's got nearly all of it off. It's her work boots and overalls that give it away really. Her hair's down and free as Mercy has no newspaper (really she had no idea people read them still....not for stupidity, but for having her nose in her job and businesss). Instead, she's got a phone in hand and glances up from it. She's not your average New Yorker. She's still very, very much wild at heart. And absolutely in need of caffeine, too. Breakfast sandwiches and takeout coffee just won't do it. She needs good coffeee really.

Flex has posed:
Adrian nods to the girl in line beside him, "Good morning miss." He observes the oil stains and work clothing, "Are you a mechanic?"

His accent places him as being from central Canada. It is not as extreme as some.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"That easy to guess?" Mercy asks with a wry smile. "Yeah I'm a mechanc by trade" she nods and watches the line then back to the voice. "Work on old cars, too. It's my way of keeping the lights on" she explains, settling in to the long wait with a resigned tone to her voice. The voice, defeated in tone. Mercy glances over, "So what about you then? You're not a mechanic" she offers, "Or if you are, you keep things cleaner than me"

Flex has posed:
Adrian considers, "I am...well I am kind of a student. Actually, with the prices around here, I might need to think about getting a job. My stipend is not going to go as far hereas I can stretch it to back home."

That thought brings up the question, what is he really qualified to do? He might have to go to the Avengers or SHIELD or something, he is trained in investigation and heroics, not in anything practical. He does not think being a hero generally pays well...unless you are working FOR someone.

He is not lying about being a student, he seriously wants to study a few things...even if they are not a normal full curriculum.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy shakes her head in agreeement about the money situation. "You're a student, huh? And back home? If I were to go back home I'd get free room and board, kind of. I'd have to pull my weight though and help out. It's either that or pay bills here and earn enough to keep the lights on" Mercy says with a shrug, "Either way I don't get a free ride. But being a student is important. I learned that quickly in college and schooling"

Says the woman who can turn into a coyote at will, she too, is a student of sorts. More of CV joints and cars and wrenches than books. Been there, done that, got a degree in history and then some. To Mercy, school is important but so is practical life experiences

Flex has posed:
Adrian admits, "I have been training in Law Enforcement, I am taking a sabbatical. The thing is, I am not sure what visiting lawmen can do." Perhaps he should go to the local police, though they might not be on the best of terms considering their first introduction to him. He might need to wait for his new costume to be finishes first, so he can assure them naked after a fight is not on the agenda.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Okay, that gets a laugh from Mercy, "You think they'd take an out of towner seriously?" Mercy asks. "I know the reputation of the police. I'd rather go back to Montana, and deal with the police there than deal with New York cops" she says and takes a step forward as the line moves. Watching it she looks back again. "So you're a visiting....what...if I had to guess goig by the accent, Canadian?" Mercy adds and moves forward another half a pace. Coffee. Soon that prize will be in her grip. Soon....if nobody takes five hours to order a tray of drinks, mind. That, in Mercy's pre-caffeine state, might just get her to break her own personal code of not breaking the law.

Flex has posed:
Well, that does not sound very promising. If local police are not an option he will have to consider other possibilities. He just is not sure what those options are.

He finally gets to the counter and places an order, then pauses and says, "Can I buy you coffee too...you have been helpful and I would like to thank you."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
New York cops got a reputation, Mercy knows this as she looks a little taken aback. "Uh....sure" she says quickly. "I've been helpful and you're buying coffeee for me? Thanks" she says and looks pleased. Well, pleased that today at least, the universe doesn't hate her, Coyote's not meddling in her affairs. Today, hey, she can get work done, and enjoy things. Mercy looks amused, cracking a smile. "Sure, coffee is good, black, sugar, no creamer" Mercy adds looking thoughtful.

Flex has posed:
Adrian adds the coffee to his order, then aays, "I was born in Ontario and still tend to work from there. I am Adrian Corbo." He does not expect her to have heard if him, even the names of Alpha Flight are not really pubicly known. Beta Flight, almost nobody knows even while in costume.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Adrian, nice to meet you" Mercy says with a smile. "I'm Mercedes, or Mercy. You're from Ontario in Canada? See I wasn't far wrong" she jokes looking to the counter then shakes her head looking amused. "I grew up in Montana. I came out here" Mercy says with a wistful look in her eyes, like she misses Montana. Which she does honestly even if her life's out here now.

Flex has posed:
Adrian says, "Mercy is a nice name, there was a time, not long ago, when many women were named for virtues. Mercy was a fairly common name then." He frowns as his mind wanders, then says, "I wonder if Jared remembers our mother's name? Perhaps it is in the records at the orphanage."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy listens keenly looking over to Adrian. "Okay, what" Mercy says with a raised eyebrow. "Okay, who are you on about, Jared?" Mercy asks waiting for her coffee and smiles, genuinely curious and worried now that she's stepping on toes, watching Adrian. "Okay, so" Mercy says, "Youre Canadian, grew up in an orphanage?" she asks as her phone buzzes. "Yeah? Okay, thanks, thanks for telling me" Mercy offers with a nod looking pleased, listening. "Yeah huh. I'll get to it. Thanks" Mercy says hanging her phone up and slides her phone back into her overalls. "Hey listen, I got to get my coffee and run, I got a car that a parts delivery that came in" Mercy says with a smile.

Flex has posed:
"Nice meeting you Mercy. This seems like a nice place, perhaps I will see you around again sometime," responds Adrian. It would be nice to have some local friends.
