Cast of Characters: Spider-Man, Shadowcat

Spider-Man has posed:
Manhattan's Midtown changes pace just after sun down. The daytime is always hectic, busy, with people rushing hither and yon, but when the sun sets the feeling of the area takes on an entirely different vibe. There's a vibrance to the action, the sidewalks become a little more wild with people walking around enjoying themselves going to shows or exhibits or gatherings. Yet it's not all peace and good times, for above the streets the rooftops get a life of their own. Second story men work their craft, the city's heroes can be seen at times glimpsed in passing...
And for the young man known as the Spectacular Spider-Man, that's usually when he gets most of his work done. As there on the rooftop of the old four story brownstone apartment building the three men dangling from an over-hanging water tower, wrapped in webbing, can likely attest.
"How many years have we been doing this, Montana?"
The webbed up man in the cowboy hat slowly twists from the end of the webline, his mouth covered up by a wad of webbing with his hands bound and a bullwhip of some kind fallen on the ground. He's joined by his two partners Ox and Fancy Dan who are both similarly bound and hanging there.
"This is like what... six years since you chuckleheads started chasing after me? What did I ever do to you guys?"
That causes the cowboy hat wearing Montana, still twisting upside down, to grimace and murfle as he tries to say something emphatically.
"What?" Spidey asks. "Kingpin? Well yeah. But should you do everything he tells you? I mean would you jump of a bridge if he asked you to? This is no way to live, man."

Shadowcat has posed:
There's another watching quietly. Kitty had her own run ins with these guys. Okay so what, she phased through a freaking wall to avoid them. That's who she is. Didn't anyone say never tug a Kitty by the tail. Or is that tigers, or, or....something. Either way, Kitty is not that far away watching this all go dowwn. Unusually for the talkative Kitty. She's quiet, and just observing Peter at his webbed craft. Kittty would just have given them to Cyclops to 'question'

Looking over she's up here, and not even in costume. Good job, Kit Kat...

Looking to Peter Kitty finally, finally speaks. "Hey" she says finally.

Spider-Man has posed:
"Alright fellas, well figure you'll have another 3-4 months to think about it locked up in the ole pokey." He slaps his hands together and rubs them thoroughly as Spider-Man looks at the three nabbed criminals there. "Good talk. Good talk." Even as the Enforcers seem to be murfling emphatically angrily something that if the webbing wasn't stopping them from talking then would likely not be acceptable in polite company.
    Especially now with Kitty there.
But her appearance draws Peter's attention away from the criminals for the moment. "Oh hey." He starts, then ahems and gives a nod sort of sidelong towards the bound criminals and he says in a more authoritative voice, "Pardon me, miss. But it's not entirely safe to be up here for now. I've already contacted the police."
He straightens up and gestures to the side, "Here let me get you somewhere safer." And as he says that he closes the distance with her extending a hand and then quirking an eyebrow under that mask as he murmurs under his breath just for her to hear.
"Heya. Everything okay?" He asks, concern in his voice. Then he looks over and gestures some distance away on the other side of the roof, perhaps safer for them to talk over there. "You alright?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods and heads for the indicated spot, sitting with a quite amused look on her face. She's caught Peter in his web spinning ways. Again!

"I'm good" Kitty offers with a laugh, "Just was out here hoping to track down new friends"

Read: Mutants. "You got those guys well in hand, or web, so I won't ruin your fun. I was gonna ask if you'd seen anything in Bushwick recently" Kitty observs and carries on sitting while scritching Lockheed, who had settled in her lap. Then seeing Peter the dragon wanders over as if to say hey, you again?

Which gets a giggle from Kitty. It's true Lockheed's her best friend as of right now, true. Okay okay, fine. Peter's still a fine friend given they parted ways amicably. That ship's not sailed, it's loading cargo and getting ready to sail at a moment's notice. Still, Kitty's fine with being friends, there's none of the c'mon, I miss Spidey's everything in her head. That and her works' kept her busy. Technically she's on the clock now finding mutants. But hey, nothing going on.

So she can sit and talk with Spidey a good while

Spider-Man has posed:
"Hey noodle-nose." A quick greeting given to Lockheed that likely doesn't endear him anymore in the small dragon's eyes. But the way his mask tilts up it might be clear that Spidey is smiling.
Turning to look back at the dangling Enforcers who slowly sway with the wind, Spider-Man points two fingers at his mirror-lensed eyes then points at Montana as if letting him know... he'll be watching. But then he walks over to where Kitty is taking her ease. A few steps, a slight hop and he's perched on the side of an old industrial air conditioner that likely hasn't conditioned any air since the nineties.
"Bushwick?" A hand lifts to rub at the back of his neck thoughtfully and then he shakes his head, "Nothing too out there really. A few second story men were breaking into some apartments, that was the last thing I ran into over there..."
Then his head tilts to the side, "There were those protests a few weeks ago, but that was alright after a bit of time. Some scuffles I think but nothing that jumped out at me."
He balances on the balls of his feet, arms resting on his knees as he crouches there watching her, "Why, something been up?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods, "Just out here looking for people is all" Kitty says. Which is, well it's true. "Plus wanderlust, too, I wanted to see the city from up here at night like we used to" Kitty adds, muttering the last bit.

Okay so what she wants to see the city from up here at night. Kitty's smart at times. Like now, mixing work and personal stuff. Still, she listens keenly.

Lockheed doesn't give anything away bar hopping up on his own air conditioner to watch them all. He's close enough to Kitty and giving Peter a 'I will crap in your boots' look. "Quit it, Lockheed" Kitty says, "It wasn't that bad, you know him"

Spider-Man has posed:
That mask works so well, but Kitty's known him long enough to read the slight wrinkle in the fabric showing where the smirk might well be when he shoots a glance at Lockheed. But then his attention returns to the young mutant girl and he gives a nod. "Yeah, was fun running around, swinging around."
Then his smile shifts a little wider, "And you trying to keep up." Perhaps teasing her slightly but he shrugs and again glances over toward the bound Enforcers where they dangle and sway with the breeze. He crinkles his nose, barely a furrow under the mask as he meets her gaze.
"Those were good times." Then his voice drops a little, quieter, more gentle. "Something got you down, Kitty? If you need to talk gimme thirty minutes and we can meet over at Mr. Rinaldi's if you want." The old pizza place just on the outskirts of Midtown.

Shadowcat has posed:
"You forget I can phase" Kitty says with a laugh, "Sure, you buying me pizza and we talk things over" she smiles. "Make it kosher, though. Remember I'm Jewish"

That bit's said with a genuine smile, she's teasing him back. "After all, half an hour. What are you going to do, get those guys in a triple knot tied to the George Washington bridge and go shopping for good clothes while they wait and time ticks down?" Kitty giggles. The idea of Peter in Hot Topic or somewhere equivalent is enough to make her crack up giggling more.

Raising her hands she gets her breth back. "Sorrry just the image of you in Hot Topic has me giggling"

Spider-Man has posed:
Spider-Man replies as he hops back to his feet, "Pffft, the fact that you equate Hot Topic with 'good clothes' says way more about you than me, kiddo." And with that he rolls his shoulders one and then the other before he gestures back towards the criminals suspended. "I contacted the police earlier, they should be here in a lil bit."
He starts to step over to the edge of the building and gives her a wave, "Just gimme a lil bit of time and I'll meet you at the pizza place." His lip twitches underneath the mask as he gives her double fingerguns, "You know what I like, my usual."
And with that he turns around and raises his voice as he calls out, back in his 'Spidey' patter. "Alright fellas, looks like the cops are on their way. Anyone need anything? Some coffee? Fresh bagels?" The Enforcers murfle loudly against their bonds. "Last chance, speak up? Oh well maybe next week."
And with that she'll be able to get clear.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty gives him a look that promises she'll drag him to Hot Topic. "It's got good stuff for me" she calls after him and looks to Lockheed. "See, you agree with me right?" she asks before she's finding a path off the roof. Lockheed in tow. See. Kitty's not leaving a smart dragon behind up here. Nah. He'd just find his way back home. And no, the world is not ready for a litter of Lockheeds. Not that Kitty wants to know just what Lockheed would have to mate with for that...

That's her thoughts on her way down too the street. She's got a place in mind, too.

Spider-Man has posed:
It only takes a handful of minutes for Spider-Man to get matters handled. A handful of minutes for the police to arrive and for him to wave them off as he swings away in the opposite direction of Rinaldi's. Then a handful of minutes more for him to hunker down in an alley side street away from the prying eyes of the public for him to make the transition from Superhero to Superyouth.
Kitty won't likely see him again until he's opening the door to Rinaldi's Famed Pizzeria with one hand and a shoulder, leaning it open as the bell jangles in the door frame. He lifts a hand and calls out to the proprietor when their eyes meet. "Hey Mr. Rinaldi."
    "Peter, good to see you!"
A hand gestures to the side, "Just meeting up with a friend." And as he says that he turns and smiles toward Kitty then crosses the distance to join her, sliding a seat out and settling in opposite her.
    "Heya."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's there, Lockheed's already scarfed breadsticks down. Much to Kitty's annoyance, she was going to eat those.

"Heya" Kitty says with the soft thud of a foot finding floor. "Thanks, by the way. Thanks for hearing me out" she nods and looks over. "Thanks for hearing me out. You asked what's got me down? It's stupid. But it's just....time moving on, People I work with getting older, y'know? It's just..." Kitty trais off deciding what to order. Cheese pizza, fine.

"It's just, people I work with moving on, and it's got me sad" kitty admits. Yeah she's got a job to do, and seeing the seniors graduate, seniors she's helped out...that's got to her. Mostly since she's spent time with them, too, Kitty's taking it well, all things considered though being a guidance counselor.

Spider-Man has posed:
Settling in and shifting forward to rest his arms on the table, Peter shifts into listening mode. She's seen it before, each time she's needed to vent and tell what's been on her mind. And if Peter has one good thing going for him, it's being a good listener. So he nods along with her words, smiling a little sympathetically at points then adds a small frown at the moment she offers that she's saddened.
The youth in his blue jeans and grey t-shirt looks away for a moment, then back to her as he smiles and murmurs, "Yeah I can understand that. The way time moves on. I know at points in my life I've felt like I was leaving something behind and closing doors. When really it was more just..."
He uncurls a hand as he reaches for one of the bread sticks and tears it into halves before lightly dipping one end into some marinara sauce. "Just moving on to a new phase in life. Right? So I tried not to mourn those things, and more celebrate that they happened. Then just look to the future as I could."

Shadowcat has posed:
Spidey gets a nod as Kitty is taking points on oard chewing on a breadstick, listening too. "You're right." kitty says simply. "I should probably just listen to you and what you have to say. Yeah I should be proud of the m, but a part of me's always going to think hey, I remeber when...."

Kitty sighs and looks over the table, "See, I'm proud of them but it's mixed with sadness, you know?" Kitty offers between bites of a breadstick. "It's just bittersweet when the school year ends"

Spider-Man has posed:
"Hey, that's only human." Peter says with that same smile on his features. He reaches a hand out to lightly squeeze hers very faintly then draws his hand back as he nods. "To nostalgia, the past, but good to remember it with warmth as well, right."
A deep breath is taken and he lifts his chin, "I remember what a basket case I was after school, and after I was giving up this... this safety of routine in some ways and embracing the wildness of chaos. It felt like I was stepping out of one world and into another. But for me it was... I suppose all about finding balance in my life."
There's a crinkle to his nose as he adds, "Not like I'm some sagacious yogi sitting up on top of a mountain. But I'm doing okay for the most part."
    A beat.
"Mostly."    Then he smiles and nods, "C'mon, let's dig into the pizza and you can tell me all about how the year went. I'm dying to know." And with that the two young heroes settle in for a nice time of munching and gossiping in a small snippet of life away from life.
