Anyone get the name of that Denarian
Date of Scene: 24 July 2020
Location: St. Mary of the Angels
Synopsis: Harry and Karrin have a convo as Harry recovers at the church
Cast of Characters: Karrin Murphy, Harry Dresden

Karrin Murphy has posed:
The chaos had been a lot. Getting bodies in and bandaged as needed, Karrin calling Dresden's familiar towing company that doesn't ask a lot of questions. Warding off Spike. Explaining vaguely to Father Forthill what happened, even if she didn't know how Harry got the coin in the first place. It was nearly dawn by the time Karrin settled down into the makeshift infirmary near him, most of her anger turned into worry that he wasn't awake yet. He used a lot of magical punch and took more than a bit of punishment, she knew that, but she was still worried. Eventually, she nodded off herself...

Now, who knows how much longer she's been stretched out there at his side, in the most comfortable chair Father Forthill had to give her. At one point, someone vaguely put a blanket over her but it's fallen half loose, exposing the tight bandage across her deeply lascerated shoulder. Bruising is already coming up along the left side of her face, where the worst of the bubbled car crash impact happened all along her body. Her hair is a mess, some flecks of blood left in it. Her vest and gun rest off (safetied) at her side. She's breathing slow but light.

Harry Dresden has posed:
It starts off as a low noise somewhere in Harry's chest, but within a few moments it evolves into a fully formed groan as Harry's consciousness starts to return to him. With as beaten and battered as he is, he may wish he didn't wake up just yet, but it isn't like he can really control these things. The groan soon is accompanied by the fluttering of eyelids that eventually open in a squint, "Why does hell look like a church?" the wizard comments quietly in a raspy voice, "It must be hell, because there is no way I lived through all that..."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Much like her sleep at home, Karrin Murphy isn't exactly a deep sleeper. Even on a whole lot of Tylenol and exhaustion, the moment he's making a sound her exhausted eyes flicker open and she watches him as he starts coming to. Her eyes search at the visible bandages she can see, though the worst of it is bruising and damaged ribs (much as herself) as his coat took a lot of damage. It lays folded next to her own armor. She sits forward gingerly and gives him a pale smile, "I suspect Father Forthill would take exception to your calling his church hell. Much less Michael... and I'd rather not play Harry-Dresden-Football again but... Spike, Buffy and I managed to drag your unconscious ass onto holy ground. So, bad news. You lived."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry grunts as a form of communicating his understanding of Karrin's words. "Coke?" comes the next fully formed syllable he manages to utter out as he shifts in the cot, trying to get to a position that might make it easier to sit up. Spoiler alert, there isn't one. Eventually he just grits his teeth and bears down and with another grunt of effort mixed with pain pushes himself into a sitting position. "Did we win?"

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"...I...would have to hunt it down, but we can make that happen." Karrin's voice is scratchy and rough, partially from lack of sleep and partially from the amount of yelling that happened last night. She carefully sits up straighter, trying to hide the pinch of pain around her eyes but it's fairly impossible. Everything hurts. Breathing hurts. She winces in sympathy as he sits up, but it melts into a half smile at his question. "...Yeah. I mean, we didn't manage to kill either of them but Forthill has the coin carefully locked away, none of us died, and they retreated. I'll take that as a win."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods "Good. Winning good," Harry agrees with a nod. "We should get a trophy. Stupid coinheads."

He opens his eyes a bit more, trying to ignore the pain and the headache that is currently threatening to make his head explode in a fountain of pulsating grey matter, "Buffy? She ok? Don't see her."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
A touch more concern crosses her features as she watches his eyes, then she gingerly shifts up to standing entirely and heads over to the little medicine cabinet. At least there would be more painkillers there. And, as luck would have it, a coke. It's like someone knew. She brings both over to him, even if the coke is going to be warm. "...Coke and pills. Don't go crazy, it's not 1986." She teases him gently. "Buff is fine. Cut up. That bitch's hair is... something else. But fine. Spike came to help and...actually helped." But there's something heavier behind her eyes as she says that.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden snorts at the cocaine joke, which was not the best thing in the world for the wizard to do as he follows it up promptly with a groan. He reaches out, making grabby hand motions for the pills and the can, popping the former and chasing it down with the later no matter how warm it is. Draining the can in seconds the excess gas causes him to belch, doing his best to mute it somewhat behind a hand. "Spike. Ugh. Met once, I think. At least he helped. Surprised he didn't go after the coin himself."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Karrin takes a moment to pop a few Tylenol herself, hoping it can hold off the worst of the pain so she can just keep functioning. She's used to pushing through, this time no different. She's silent for a long... almost too long moment, staring at the cross on the wall, mind utterly somewhere else. But she manages to shake it off at his belch and look back to him, smirking, "Attractive. Never change. And...yeah. Buff and I did our very best to...explain how that was a VERY bad idea without interesting him further. I don't know if we succeeded."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden lets out a little chuckle, "What can I say, I'm a classy guy. You should see me when I go to a fancy restaurant, I wear a bib and everything."

Harry leans against the wall, wincing as he shifts his weight, "I don't even know how that would work? A fallen in the body with a demon? I don't want to find out. Talk about a monstrosity. Hell's bells, it is enough to give me nightmares."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Slowly, she comes back over to his side and, instead of returning to her chair, she sinks down onto the cot next to him. It hurts. Bending is the worst with rib injuries, but she manages down and to just slightly lean against him, relief flooding her body that he's awake and most of his snarky self. Her fingertips reach out, brushing over his knee in some manner than holds a lot of affection and her not entirely being certain of how to put it into words. "Well...the coin will be gone soon and, as far as we're aware, that's the only loose one, right? So... hopefully...we won't have to find out." Her fingertips shake, just slightly, as she considers the coin. She tightens her hand on his knee instead.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods his head in agreement as he places his hand over hers, "Yeah, it's the only loose one I know of. Came into an auction house the other day, thankfully the woman that got the coin shipment felt something was off about it and came to me. Must have been sensitive or something. Prue someone or other, I have her card somewhere back at the office. It would have been so much worse if it had gotten out and someone grabbed it."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
As he mentions someone grabbing it, Karrin's body just tenses a moment. Maybe not even noticable, except she's sitting against him now, but she's on edge. Maybe that's understandable, all things considered from last night. "Prue?...I think she's one of Buffy's friends, met her briefly. Nice girl. I'm... " She exhales quietly and dares to lean against him just a bit more. "... it could have gone far, far worse..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden winces at the slight discomfort that her snuggling up against him causes, but it isn't something he is going to verbally complain about. He slips an arm around her waist and gently pulls her into his side for an embrace, "Yeah? Why am I not surprised by that. Buffy keeps some interesting friends, but then again she works at the only public magic shop I know of that actually has things for practitioners like me, and not just touristy shit. And, well, Slayer. How did she handle things? I was too busy running for my life to keep track of what people were doing."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
They do this to themselves. Karrin's faintly wincing too as he wraps an arm around her, but it's worth the pain. Her small frame tucks nicely in against his, something just about how right she fits against him, she'll take the ache for it. Her head turns, nose brushing against the underside of his jaw as she just curls up there. "She knew her stuff. Handled that axe like...well, I've never seen anyone fight with a great axe before and she clearly knew what she was doing. She can take a beating too. I...I knew she was tough, but... I'm... I'm impressed, honestly. And glad we called her."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry nestles in as the two become as one as they can without getting indecent in a church, "I don't know much about the whole Slayer thing, to be honest, but she is a good kid. I may give her a rash about some of her decisions, but I know she always means well. Glad she can take care of herself, makes me worry a bit less about bringing her into things."

"I bet Diedre was pissed." he says with a hint of glee in his voice, "I wish I could have seen it."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
A slightly wider smile stretches across Karrin's lips as she thinks about it, a hint of a laugh behind her tired voice. "You ever smelled hair when like... you let a curling iron go too long on it? If you haven't, it's awful. I think that basically happened to her because she definitely burned off some of her hair trying to come after us onto holy ground. Just went straight up in flames. That was... Satisfying to see."

She squeezes his knee once more, knowing they need to move soon, but taking a few last moments to enjoy this before they're caught being affectionate in public. People might talk. "That was a pretty good touchdown pass with the box there. Landed home. Lid almost came off but I managed not to totally fumble it. We got it home. That's what matters."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "It was a hail Mary to be sure," agrees Dresden with a nod. "But I knew I had a great tight end to back my play." He turns his head and peers down at Karrin, a playful little grin on his lips. "A /great/ tight end.""

Karrin Murphy has posed:
That gets him a swat to his knee, even if a little laugh, "You are... absolutely impossible." She turns blue eyes up to him, not entirely able to hide her grin as she watches his smile and maybe even blushes. Just a little. She swats his knee again for good measure. "And we're in a *church*! The...angels are watching... or something!" She laughs and gently begins to try and extricate herself so she can stand up again. They can start their morning. Maybe. On 2 hours sleep.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"Ouch." laughs softly as the first slap of the knee jolts his side, a smile playing across his face. "I know, I know, but that is part of my charm. I wouldn't be me if I wasn't." He lets her go at the seconds swat, again a little 'Ouch." escaping through his lips. "What?! It's not like I was going to...violate any commandments or anything here. I have /some/ tact. Some."

As she gets up to move, Harry starts to try and stand himself. It takes effort and some grunting sounds, but he manages to get fully upright, even if he is using the wall to brace himself. "Just wait till we get home."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"...And what do you have planned to do when we get home? A sexy oatmeal bath? Maybe some sensual tiger balm?" Karrin teases him lightly as she stands herself and dares to lean over -- damn, that hurts -- to retrieve his coat and then her body armor. Why did the floor have to be quite so far away? Still, the process of getting dressed in protective clothing begins because paranoia never takes a day off.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "Bengay in front of the fireplace before a bath in ice, just to numb everything up so I can't feel /anything/ from the neck down?" retorts Harry with a smirk, taking his coat from Karrin and starting the agonizing procedure of trying to put it on. "You would think that for all we wizards can do, we could come up with better pain management.""

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"Oh. Harry. Stop. I can only get so hot." Karrin deadpans as he continues on their absolutely not romantic, but probably very needed plans for home. Once her vest is on and holster in place, she leans over to grab a small note pad and write Father Forthill a brief thanks and explanation. No need to disturb his sleep again. "Oh... I also had the Beetle towed, did I tell you that? It's with your usual shop. Also means we... need to call a cab." She sighs and gives a tired little laugh. "...if you do figure out a better pain management strategy, you better share the good stuff. I...suspect neither of us has broken ribs but damn it feels like it."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods to Karrin as she mentions the beetle, before his face twists in horror at the realization that they are going to have to take a cab. "A cab? I barely fit into a cab, let alone the shocks on those things... Hell's bells." Grabbing his staff, he leans heavily on it and starts his way for the door, "Oh trust me, you will be the second to know..."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"I mean, we *could* wait for the bus?" Karrin offers with a half wincing smile, knowing that's probably even worse. She pauses on the edge of the door, waiting for him to meet her before she leans up on her tip toes and dares to steal an actual, honest to god kiss. A slightly longer kiss than is probably proper in a church but before they went back into the possibly dangerous world, she wanted it. When her lips draw back, she stares up into his eyes, her expression a touch more somber. "...Hey...when shit like that coin happens... maybe... Tell me? Don't wait until 3 am?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods after the kiss, "Yeah. Deal. I just didn't expect it to be an issue so soon. Story of my life, never deal with the things we should deal with when we first should deal with them, right?" We won't mention the coin that is buried in the basement under a few feet of cement, and wards, and has been for months. It's not a problem, not a temptation, and not easily gotten to. Out of sight, out of mind.

"Come on. Maybe we can get a nap in before the next crisis knocks on the door."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
There's something in his eyes. Karrin can see it, just a moment, but she has no clue what it is. Just something she's missing. She stares at him for a handful of heartbeats, her hand coming up to brush across the stubble of his cheek. "...We're a team. If nothing else...we're a team. Whatever it is, we'll figure it out." She mutters gently, not certain if she's talking about the general future or something specific, but she means her words. One last, brief kiss, and then she leads the way out the door. "...a team nap sounds like a lovely bonding activity." She mutters as they head down the hall to a phone to hail ye old Yellow Cab.
