Cast of Characters: Ted Gammage, Nightingale

Ted Gammage has posed:
It's around 6 in the evening, a tow truck is seen entering the grounds, hauling a car. Well, it's a bit generous to call it that, it use to be one at the very least. After it leaves, garage door is open and in the car comes, pushed by Ted. He seems to be taking great care not to accidentally shove it through a wall. He's currently just wearing a sleeveless undershirt, a pair of worn jeans with some grease stains on them here and there, and an old pair of sneakers, also adorned with the oil and grease spots. He calls it his "Mechanic" outfit, but its just clothes he's ruined before. He grins cheerfully as it slides into a bay, dusting off his hands a bit as he checks out his new aquisition.

The car itself isn't much to look at, four tires, three of them completely flat, one holding air but bald. There's no hood currently, and the doors are both a completely different color from each other and from the rest of the car's body. The trunk also seems to have issues staying closed as its tied shut currently.

Nightingale has posed:
Off to one side in the garage is what looks like a scooter. More specifically, a Vespa, and for those who recognize such things, it is one of the latest variants that can reputedly handle highway speeds with ease. It is also not hard to guess who it belongs to, with the angel wings decorating the fenders, and various silver and blue highlights decorating the stygian black body of the vehicle. Its owner is in immediate evidence, settled upon the ground with her phone and earbuds in, listening to some music. Her back is against the side of the Vespa, and for the moment, she seems content and at peace.

It's difficult to miss the appearance of Ted and his car, however. On instinct, she gets to her feet and trots on over, getting behind the vehicle to help him push it in. "Ooof... shop class project?"

Ted Gammage has posed:
As she helps him, Ted gives her a bemused expression. "You know," he teases "I could probably have just picked the whole thing up and dropped it in there, but I think that tow truck guy might've been snooping around for weirdness." He grins again and gives a playful 'Strong Man' flex. "And, no, not a shop project. Or...not entirely." He shrugs, "I like old cars, and working on them is kind of fun. Haven't really had one I did myself, and since I don't have a car...I found one. It's scrapped, needs a whole lot of love, but the frame is there." He gives it a light pat as he walks around it. "And it was built before cars were made of tin foil.I think I'm going to try to put a more modern engine in it. I may try to jack it up just a bit too, strengthen the suspension so it doesn't scrape ground when I get in it."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon attempts--and fails--to stifle a giggle at the 'strong man' pose, fluttering one hand over her heart, and letting out a very melodramatic sigh. "Well, if you want a little help, I wouldn't mind trying." Motioning over to the Vespa, she grins a bit sheepishly. "I was going to work on restoring that for a shop project, but Mr. Summers wound up on something of a roll while he was looking it over, and wound up finishing it instead. I'm grateful for the time and effort he put in, but I still would like to learn on -something-, you know?"

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Oof, didn't even give y' a chance to tinker with it?" Ted asks. "Sure, y'can help me if you want. Ah'll do the heavier lifting as needed." He tilts his head a moment, "It's...dirty work. Yer ok with that right? And we at least have the tools to lift up the car so we don't have to squish up under it while one end is jacked up or something." He indicates her wings, "It might be hard for you t' roll around under it on your back...?" The last is a qustion just left open if she wants to answer it. He's always been slightly curious how much they would get in the way. "Anyway," he continues, "It's going to be a long project, and I don't really have any of the many, many parts needed, but I think it'll be nice."

Nightingale has posed:
"And you think healing is entirely clean? Oh, lordy, some of the tales I could tell." Shannon shakes her head and laughs a bit to herself. No, dirt would apparently not be an issue. The matter of her wings is brought up, the young healer in training furrowing her brows slightly in thought. "Well... you know, I don't know. Guess that's something I'd have to try and find out. But worst case, I could always help with things topside...?" Her wings are spread out slightly, in a fairly relaxed sort of pose. It was good to have a simple, -normal- project to work on.

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Oh, no, I didn't mean it like... well I guess I kind of did and that was dumb of me. Ah'm sorry I didn't think 'bout that." Ted gives a light hunch of his shoulders, "Yer right, should be fine with the nastiness. And if we find somethin' here that can cut me, ah can just get you to patch me up." He doesn't note that he's pretty sure none of it can, and goes out of his way to run his hand along the side of the car, then go "Ow" and shake his hand. He's being funny, so he's clearly in a good mood. When she mentions worst case, he shakes his head "Naw, ah don't mean that. We can use the lifts to pick it up so you don't have to squash up by me under the car. Don't think that'd be too plesant for ya."

Nightingale has posed:
For a moment, Shannon's wings tense as she hears the 'ow', but with that over-exaggerated shake of his hand, she relaxes again, and... actually grins. "Being under the car wouldn't be that bad, would it? I mean, like you said, there's a lift and everything, so neither one of us would be too squished under there."

Walking around the car once, slowly, she hmmms, looking over what is likely to turn into quite a project. "Your guess is as good as mine," she says, coming to stand near Ted. "I don't know a thing about fixing up cars. Where do you even begin with something like this?"

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Well, I've done a lot of the heavy lifting already," Ted says, pun intended. "Ah mean, first y'gotta know what you want and hunt for it. Now we just got t' figure out what we want it to end up bein'." He lightly opens door, which creaks loudly in protest. "Doors were put on after a fender bender, I think. Or maybe someone lost um in a bet?" He's not real sure, "But yeah, ah'm thinkin' since the body is solid, need to find out what's usable and what ain't. Can tell y'now, the engine is a complete loss, an' that's a big chunk a' change that ah'll save up for. Ah wanted it changed out anyways, the older ones got Gallons of gas per mile." He steps back a moment, "Tires 'r easy. Some of the paneling might be hard t' get. Ah'm not making it a showcar, so none of it hasta be "Authentic" if ah can get a hold of a fabricator or somethin'." He ponders a moment. "What do y' like in cars?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon snerks a little bit at the pun, attempting to reach over with one wing to very gingerly tickle Ted's side. "Well, at least the body's okay. The engine, yeah, that's not going to be cheap. Plus, I'd have no idea where to begin hunting down that kind of stuff." For a moment, she allows her mind to wander, pursing her lips as she looks at the latest project to join those already in the garage, in varied stages of completion.

"Don't know, never really thought about it much," she replies "Guess I've always liked the era when cars really had style and personality, like waaaaay back in the beginning. 40's through 70's, maybe. There were some really elegant ones in the day."

Ted Gammage has posed:
"Old Detroit cars," Ted muses. "Yeah, like I said, after that they make them out of lighter metals. Not bad for efficency but I suspect I'm just going to get more heavy." He ponders, "Maybe I should've gotten a truck. I had one at home," he notes. "Cousin helped put it together. Good with a wrench." He nudges a tire with his foot about the time the feather brushes him. He makes a soft sound and turns quickly to face her. He smiles wryly, "Hey now, that might be a' little bit cheatin'." He looks at her a long moment more, smiling and losing his train of thought, then blinks and quickly looks away and clears his throat, "Ah...anyways, ah'm glad for the help. Gonna put together a list of parts ah'll need to start with. Probably...uh, shorin' up things before getting the engine. Then we can meet back here again and see what we can do. I'll leave ah note on it sayin' "Please don't work on me" so it doesn't get stolen by a student lookin' for a project."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon giggles softly, furling her wings around her and bringing her hands up as if to cover her face. But she, too, is being playful. "Hey, now how's that cheating?" Eyes meet, and for a moment or three, she doesn't look away either. Her cheeks flush a delicate shade of rose, and she just smiles. "This is going to be a fun project," she says softly. "Especially during the winter, when we're cooped up inside."
