SpyderByte has posed:
It's the first day of the new school year and Jeremy is excited. He is sitting in one of the classrooms for Home Room, looking around at the new faces who have joined. Some he recognizes, some he doesn't. He's dressed in a button down black shirt, a pair of dark jeans and a tie. He finally got a bit of a haircut, even if it's just a few inches here and there. It's still a shaggy mop, but it's no longer unruly and a tangled mess.

In front of him is his laptop, open and ready to take notes for orientation. He has some paperwork in front of him as well, that of which he must have read at least three times and memorized it word for word. That's how excited he is. A new school. No more bullies. He taps away at his keyboard, logging in to his student portal so that he can pull up his class list. As he sees that he will be in 'Advanced Biology' with Doctor McCoy, his face lights up like a thousand suns.

Nightingale has posed:
Another new school year has begun. By now it was old hat to Shannon, who had gone from being homeschooled before her arrival last year at Xavier's, to a completely different sort of environment. To say the year had been eventful would be an understatement, yet somehow she managed to keep up with her studies--and even score high marks. While it looked as if this year would be no less adventurous, she was determined to not let her studies slip.

Given her leanings towards the medical sciences, she signed up for Advanced Biology, and by the looks of things as she flopped down at her desk, it seemed as if she'd perhaps raided Dr. McCoy's library again. She was dressed in some dark blue jeans, her favorite calf-length caramel suede boots, and a wine-colored turtleneck that showed off her figure well, yet remained modest.

Glancing over at Jeremy, she grins and waves. "Hey, you! Psyched about this year?"

Beast has posed:
Dressed in a brown suit, Hank McCoy makes his way into the classroom to the podium up front and rests his hands on the sides of it after positioning a tablet so that he can read it. As he looks over the classroom he smiles brightly and greets everyone, "Welcome, students, to the first day of class! I'm quite excited to have you here! My name is Doctor McCoy and I'm the school's biology teacher."

SpyderByte has posed:
"I'm just happy to be here in a normal school now." For Jeremy, this /is/ normal. He's not going to get beat up! Hopefully. Maybe. Good chance he won't. But, one never knows in a school full of super powers and egos. At the sight of Hank walking in, he straightens up quickly.

"Good morning Doctor McCoy!" He crows out happily, then slumps down a bit sheepishly as he hears a few chuckles from the students nearby. He's a bit /too/ eager it seems to get going. He reaches up and adjusts his glasses, then launches a clean document for him to take notes on.

Nightingale has posed:
For her part, Shannon's left her laptop in her dorm, knowing the time to be able to take notes at speed would be approaching soon enough. Instead, she indulges in the luxury of a fresh notebook and a ballpoint pen that looks as if it came from a New Age shop. It might very well have, having a body formed from clay, embedded with crystals from point to end in each color of the spectrum, and topped with a single small quartz crystal point. She smiles over at Jeremy and nods, her wings ruffling and tucking in neatly behind her. "Yeah, coming to school and feeling -normal- was quite a change for me last year. I'm really glad you get to have that now."

Facing forward, she touches the crystal tip of her pen to her forehead, flicking it outwards in something akin to a salute to Dr. McCoy. "'morning! Sorry I raided your library again... when did you want this book back by?"

Beast has posed:
"Good morning, good morning!" Hank sounds quite happy in front of the students. "I've gone through the process of taking attendance, memorized all of your files prior to class so I know what you look like and what courses you're taking. Looks like everyone has a full year ahead of them, which makes me happy. Lots of opportunities to learn and excel here at Xaviers." Then he looks towards Shannon and nods, "Just get it back to me when you're finished with it. If I need it I know how to get in contact with you."

SpyderByte has posed:
As Hank speaks, the words fly across Jeremy's screen without even typing. He's literally documenting everything in verbatin. He has to backspace and remove the response to Shannon though. Typing is a lot easier when all you ned to do is 'think' about it. His attention is raptly focused upon the blue fuzzy teacher, his smile genuine along his face.

He even has a case of the wiggles. He just feels normal. For the first time he's not in the back of the class. He's not hiding in a hoodie. He's not scared to speak up. He feels like a normal kid.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins a bit sheepishly, and nods. "Understood. Might have a question or two later for you, though." For her part, she hasn't got a case of the wiggles, but seems to be breathing a very deep sigh of relief. Peering over at Jeremy's screen, she stifles a giggle, her pale blue eyes a-twinkle with mirth. "Showoff," she murmurs. But there is no rancor in her tone, just a very light nudge with one wing.

Beast has posed:
"This year is an important one for all of you," McCoy tells his students. "You've got a lot to work on, but the faculty here is ready to assist you in any way we can. It doesn't matter if you're new here or old hat, we want to help you better yourselves so you can go on to bigger, better things when you graduate." There's a smile in place on his face, "If you're dealing with any sorts of problems, academic or otherwise, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or another staff member you feel you can trust. I won't speak for the others, but I know I look forward to my interactions with each and every one of you folks."

SpyderByte has posed:
Giving a side grin to Shannon, Jeremy's eyes gives a bit of a 'flicker' as he connects with his computer, sending him in and out of the network as he takes notes along his screen.

Most of his attention is still focused on the lecture. If Doctor McCoy says this year is important, then it has to be. He leans forward a bit more in his desk in anticipation. At times he'll sneak a glance about the classroom, seeing if anyone else has his level of excitement. Some do, some are staring off into space, one is slumped over and sleeping, another is drawing a picture of Cookie Monster and Beast high-fiving each other. He can see anything and everything through the lens of their computer cameras and their phones. It's like breathing for him.

The picture though causes him to quietly giggle.

Nightingale has posed:
"Okay, so we have a lot to work on. Where do we start?" That may perhaps be a loaded question, but at least to Shannon's eyes, at least a few students seemed excited enough about class to make it worth the asking. Normal, calm, -sane- things like the first day of class were a very welcome change, indeed. "Speaking of bigger, things, let's put one out there. Have any open mutants ever taken the EMT certification course for this state?"

Beast has posed:
"Well, you start with first period, then move on from there," Beast replies to Shannon's first question with a little bit of a chuckle. "But to be serious for a moment, you should be spending a lot of time learning about human rights this year. We need to work on making sure that nobody has theirs violated and try to determine what we need to do to prevent that from happening." Then he pauses to think for a moment, "None that I can recall offhand, but I don't think it will be terribly difficult to find somewhere that will accept a mutant. We can hopefully get EMT qualifications for the state as well as the national registry, though. If you're interested let me help you look into it and we'll find the information together."

Nightingale has posed:
"I did actually do a little digging to figure out when I could start. From what I read, the whole course takes about six months, so I figure if I start around February or so, I'd be able to take the exam not long after my birthday." Shannon shrugs, and smiles somewhat. "The skillset can't hurt to have, to back my gifts up. Yeah, we can look up a bit more later."

On the topic of human rights, her brows furrow ever so slightly. She taps the crystal atop her pen on her chin a few times, as she thinks how best to phrase this next question. "Okay, since we're going to get into human rights... oof, this is a loaded question." Pausing to think it through for a moment, she starts nibbling on the crystal, letting out a bit of a sigh.

"It's no secret what dream this place was founded on. But the very phrase 'human rights' raises a point we may all have to wrestle with. If we're for better relations between humans and mutants, where do 'human rights' enter in? Is one human, and the other not? Are 'equal rights' what is meant?"

Yeaaaaah. This was going to be an interesting year.
