Red has posed:
If your schedule has ample time between classes, you seek for things to stuff it. Like the afternoon. With some extracurricular activities. Even those you offer yourself to others. And so, Alice has set up a prop-shop on thursday afternoons. A time where students can meet and learn the art of propmaking... which also might help them with designing their costumes if they join one of the teams...

Siphon has posed:
In the past fourty-eight hours Tabitha's world went from one mile square and what she now knows was some rather astounding levels of information control to, well... this place. It's a bit more than culture shock, but so far she's managed to keep her head above water. When she heard about the prop-shop she figured to go give it a look. Her own efforts at making her own accessories have always been what could be generously called laughable, so this should be a good thing.

She arrives bundled up in her usual three indoor clothing layers plus an extra jacket and knit watch cap over her blace lace veil. Her hands are deep in her pockets. She sort of hovers at the edge of things at the moment, still not used to things enough to jump right in.

Red has posed:
Alice has set up the garage with a few chairs at the side, standing in the center of the circle of chairs, wearing pretty much impossible boots reaching up under the kneelong skirt she wears together with it, red blouse mirroring her hair color. "Welcome to the Prop Shop" she greeted those few arriving, gesturing to the chairs to take a seat. "Now, first of all, some general things. We're here to learn how to make costumes. That is costumes as in cosplay. Not armor or battle suits. Keep that in mind when you wear whatever you do. And the other thing: Funds are limited, so plan ahead what you want to do. So, who has an idea what kind of costume they want to do? Please don't say StarTrek, those are uniforms, you can get them readymade on fleabay."

Siphon has posed:
Tabitha hops up into one of the chairs and listens. When asked about ideas for costumes, she shrugs. "I can think of some things I'd like to wear, but most of them don't have any visual reference since they're from books. Things like Herald's winter whites or an Adamist SII combat shell." She shrugs as she says these. "We didn't have a TV or personal computers at the... uh, where I'm from. Just a lot of books."

Red has posed:
"Books, comics, Anime, films, all good ideas to get stuff from. I have to admit I didn't read those, so mind telling what those look like? Try to be as specific as possible and break it down into parts. Like... one moments." Alice reaches for something on the bench and picks up a picture of a scene from Kingom of heaven. "I'd start describing this at the top and separate it in pieces. Helmet, chestpiece, arms, shoulders, gauntlets. So, what are these Winter Whites Miss...?" There's a decided gap where the name is needed.

Siphon has posed:
Tabitha can tell that it's going to take some getting used to not being immediately recognized. She's not sure yet how it feels being considered not strange, plus she's never been a 'new kid' before. She squirms a bit in her chair but at least the veil hides her blush. "Oh, sorry. Tabitha Barr. I just arrived Tuesday evening."

When asked to describe one of the costumes she mentioned, she pauses to gather her thoughts. "Well, it's from the various Heralds of Valdemar books. The Heralds are sort of like a knight's order. Their uniforms are all field functional and like the name suggests, all white. No shadings or off tones." The watches Alice break down the armor in the picture she's using then thinks more. "I suppose you could pattern them from late middle ages clothing. Maybe early Renaissance. Just not with anything poofy or frilly. The winter version is, well, wintery. Thicker fabrics, wool. fur type stuff."

Red has posed:
"So, you'd need an all white Battle Dress Uniform? Sounds like a german winter uniform for their mountaineers from WW2, but in late medieval? Often it's hard to find the right words at first. Like, let's take the example Tabitha had. Or color-invert it for black, as in those filmes based on the Martin books. The Night's Watch is a military order that wears all black attire and lives right next to a mile high wall made of ice. As a result they wear leather clothing over wool. As they are always fearing those on the other side of the wall, they wear at least leather armor and, because it is damned cold, usually chainmaile. Black cloaks and coats are common, from heavy wool. So if you'd wanna make a Watchman, you'd need to be good with swing. Now, how would you describe those?"

Siphon has posed:
Tabitha perks up at hearing the description of Night's Watch outfits. "Yeah, something just like that only white. Not sure how to describe the cut..." She hops down from her chair (because her feet don't quite reach the ground) then gestures to herself as she mentions parts of the outfit. "Riding boots. Wool socks and pants. Wool shirt under a leather vest. Leather bracers over the shirt cuffs. Sword belt. Big hooded wool and fur coat that can be belted closed so it doesn't catch on things when riding. Gloves and such."

She starts off slow then gradually gets more animated as she describes the costume. The idea that something like this was within reach was never even a glimmer of a thought before. She pauses at the end then just sort of folds in on herself to become a bit more tiny than usual. "Um... would something like that work?"
