A Godly Meeting
Date of Scene: 03 November 2020
Location: Martial Fields, Kvalvika, New Asgard
Synopsis: Hela invites Athena to a meeting in order to discuss a curious mortal in Clint Barton
Cast of Characters: Hela, Athena

Hela has posed:
Hela has sent a raven to bring Athena an official invitation to New Asgard, for a casual meeting to discuss a small matter. It's not often the Gods of the different Pantheons meet between them, certainy not on friendly terms, so perhaps Athena would accept on curiosity alone. In a nice nod to Athena's dominion, Hela has elected the Martial Fields of New Asgard as the place for the meeting.

She stands there in waiting in her full regalia, antlery spikey crown on her head, and body cloaked in her dark green robe.

Athena has posed:
Athena normally prefers more casual attire on Earth, but when meeting a goddess from another pantheon certain formalities must be observed. The Greek Goddess of Wisdom and War arrives in her own, golden battle regalia. Stepping onto the Martial Fields, the blonde goddess bears the shield Aegis upon her left arm with a golden spear in her right hand. The Corinthian helm is pushed up and back to show her full face, as warriors would do before battle.

Her footsteps are casual and deliberate, one sandal then the other giving a slight twist to test the traction of the turf. "Good afternoon." she greets, stopping a good distance away.

Hela has posed:
Hela smiles when Athena arrives, looking directly at her, the look quite respectful, while added attention is given to Aegis. "Now there's an Olympian artifact I can admire, truly a work of art," she offers a compliment she can genuinely give, her mannerism often skewes towards looking down at others. Though admittedly, Athena is the one Olympian she does appreciate, War is a beautiful thing, so in her eyes Athena is far more beautiful than Aphrodite.

"Greetings, Athena, I called forth a meeting because I've had a curiosity, I wonder, have you heard of a mortal who goes by Clint Barton...?"

Athena has posed:
Athena rests the butt of the spear lightly upon her foot rather than the turf, head tilting slightly as she regards the Goddess of Death. "I have always wondered whether there is some requirement for Death divinities to wear black." she offers, almost lightly.

"But you have called this meeting... to discuss a mortal? Yes, I have certainly heard of the one who calls himself Hawkeye. In my business, I do make a point to keep at least loose track of Earth's more prominent warriors."

Hela has posed:
Parting her robe, Hela reveals the mixture of black and dark green in her wardrobe, a rather regal looking, tight fitting outfit that may well serve a battle armor. To someone like Athena, it would be clear that Hela has seen her fair share of battlefields. "Some people think so, but they'd be wrong, it is merely a nice aesthetic. Black is the absence of color, it sits well with death. Much like white being all colors, is fitting for life." Tilting her head a bit, she smirks, and adds, "why...? Does Hades and Thanatos favor blacks as well?"

"He is indeed a fascinating mortal, of respectable skill, no doubt..." she then steps closer to Athena, still keeping very much a demeanor of a friendly conversation. "He has recently made inquiries about speaking with a member of the hosts of the dead. I wonder, has made any approach to any of your priests or oracles to discuss such matters?"

Athena has posed:
Athena responds with a wry smile of her own. "I can only speak for Hades, actually. And the green makes a nice accent color. It's a good look on you." Friendly conversation or not, as Hela approaches Athena shifts a little to slowly circle... counterclockwise. Shield and spear remain lowered and casual, but her gaze never leaves the Norse Goddess.

"One of the best, I would venture to say." she replies. "I am aware of his research into the subject, actually, and of the nature of his interest. But he has not invoked or requested any divine assistance." She smiles, then. "At least not so far as he knows. He has spoken with someone known as 'Miracle Elle' about the matter, I believe."

Hela has posed:
Hela inclines her head, a gesture that appears much more massive than it actually is thanks to the bulk of her large antlery crown. "Thank you for the kind words," she observes Athena's motion as shifts in counterclockwise circle, and smiles, a smile of approval, respect perhaps, "now there's the fluidity I'd expect from Athena, your reputation is rightly earned."

Hela listens intently for Athena's answer, "brave of him to overcome his desire and avoid beseeching divine assistance. I know of Miracle Elle, she assisted the mortals handle the Black Sleep some years ago. Do you have a hand in offering him a solution?"

Athena has posed:
Athena shakes her head slowly. "Not directly, no. He had questions and concerns; I offered counsel in return. There are quick ways and shortcuts, but these always come with a high price. You know this better than most." she replies. "He was researching the nature and mythology of Hell in the library at the time."

"I am curious, of course, why you are interested in the desires of one mortal. Has he invoked you specifically or approached you with his problem?"

Hela has posed:
"So he found a way to meet you, a very capable mortal to be sure," Hela does seem impressed, but the look in her eyes suggested she wanted more than to merely flatter Clint's ingenuity. "I have heard of his contact with this so called Miracle Elle, she's the gift of the Oracles of old, she sees, she understands..." her smile turns somewhat sinister, if not simply a bit too jovial, as she quips, "is that all the counsel you gave him? For I would welcome him to deal with me on the matter, if you suggest the same to him, perhaps I can help you in matters that deal with Hades, should the need arise...? We both share a seat at the table of the Hell Lords."

Athena has posed:
Athena pauses in her slow, circling, head tilting a little and those grey-blue eyes sparkling. "You do not think that you'll be able to persuade him to come to you on your own, then." she declares. "Why else would you entreat with me? He is already distrusting of Miracle Elle and other supernatural aid, after all." And if Athena makes the connection between Elle and Hela, she doesn't state it directly.

Hela has posed:
"Oh, of course I could...I'm not sure he is brave enough, however, I think he is more clever than he looks..." Hela notes, smirking, "he understands everything has a price, as should all." She shrugs, "it's really a trifle, not a serious favor by any means, he mostly amuses me..."

Athena has posed:
Athena offers a small, knowing smile in response to Hela's casual dismissal of her suggestion. "Indeed." she replies. "I can see where his self-doubt and mental discomfort would certainly amuse you, in any case." Athena draws a slow breath, then declares. "I will be following his progress along this personal journey, indirectly."

Hela has posed:
It isn't something any divine being would ever readily admit, so Athena no doubt went the right way if she wanted to dismiss the whole affair entirely, Hela herself not looking too keen to press it anymore. If only to keep Athena from having suspicions she needed any help at all. "That is quite a companion for his journey, and were he to overstep my dominion, I shall find it most curious," Hela notes, for better or worse, she has taken interest in that mortal looking to breach the veil between living and dead.

Athena has posed:
"It should be an interesting journey for Mr. Barton, then." Athena replies. "At present, however, he is unaware of any divine interest in his affairs. In order that his choices remain fully his own, it would be best if that situation did not change. I'm sure there are Norse tales that teach similar lessons to the Odyssey of the Greeks."

Hela has posed:
"I'm sure it would, it is high aspiration that he holds, many a viking had gone to great length to attempt similar feats, against the advice of the Oracles and even Norns," Hela muses, before tilting her head, "you have an Odyssey, we have our sagas, but they are no mere tales..." Hela almost sounds offended. "Should you wish, I extend you an invitation to use our martial fields as you see fit, as a gesture of goodwill between our pantheons."

Athena has posed:
Athena inclines her head in response. "Of course they aren't." she replies, on the matter of sagas being no mere tales. "And I thank you for your generosity." she replies, gesturing broadly over the fields with her golden spear. "While I am here on Earth, I will be sure to do so." There are many reasons for Athena to keep up appearances on Earth, with actual combat training being somewhat low on the list. Their conversation having concluded, she tips the helm forward with a brisk, practiced nod of her head and turns towards the practice fields themselves.
