Last flight to Dallas
Date of Scene: 04 March 2021
Location: Gotham City Slums
Synopsis: Supergirl takes Austin's number and promises to call him... about the Titans.
Cast of Characters: Sentinel (Dallas), Supergirl

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
So picture...The Black Canary. The tight black leotard over fishnet stockings. The black boots with silver buckles. The black leather gloves that glisten in the moonlight. The domino mask that is just distracting enough. The perfect hybrid of sexy meets dangerous. Now picture it on a capuchin monkey. That's Tina, who is currently riding on Austin's shoulder. Austin for his part is wearing a faded Gotham knights sweat shirt and black jeans. The Monkey chitters on his shoulder lightly and he sighs, "I'm sure she didn't mean to insult you Tina, you've got to let it go." He says with a slight smirk, "Now hush, I'm trying to listen." He closes his eyes and seems to be doing just that for several moments before he opens them and smirks "There is a woman struggling with two guys that way." He says with confidence and a bit of a smirk. Taking off at a quick jog.

Supergirl has posed:
High up in the air above, there is a figure on her way home. Considering home is in another country, she has a bit of a distance to travel. She can get there fast if she goes higher so she can go more rapidly without damaging the world around her.

Yet even as she's flying, she is listening. Never know when someone might call for help. Which is the moment she hears the voice from below, a woman yelling for help. Wait no. She's not yelling. She's praying very quietly but the male voices around her are almost covering it. Never a good sign.

Supergirl shifts direction and heads toward the sound she heard.

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Austin Dallas is not faster then a speeding bullet... but he's pretty quick for a motal as it were, and also a lot closer. So he gets to the alley a few seconds after he heard the first screams. He turns the corner and calls out "Is this the meeting of the American Society of Safty Hardware Operators and Labor Engineers. I mean I'm looking for a bunch of ASSHOLEs. Is that you guys? I mean you.." He says pointing to the largest of them. "You're an ASSHOLE, right? And that guy? He's got to be the biggest ASSHOLE I've ever seen." Tina for her part... just shakes her head and jumps off Austin's shoulder.

Supergirl has posed:
Wait, what? Supergirl pauses in the air, hovering above the alleyway where things are starting to play out. She could swoop in, do what she does, but now she finds herself as she second hero on scene.

It'd be rude to interrupt, right? So she hovers there about 30 feet in the air and closer to the end of the alley so not right above them, waiting to see if this guy has it under control.

Wait? Is that monkey dressed up like Black Canary?

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
The leader of the ASSHOLEs backs away from the woman to face the young man directly. "You picked the wrong night to pretend to be a hero, boy." He says crossing the distance between his buddies and Austin in three quick strides and throwing a highly telegraphed haymaker at Austin's head. The young man dodges just slightly, gripping the wrist as it flies harmlessly by him, twisting it while delivering a vicious thrust kick to the AH's knee. Shoulder dislocated, kneecap shattered, he changes his focus to the other three gangbangers. "Well now that he's down, Which one of you is the biggest ASSHOLE?"

Supergirl has posed:
Supergirl has to bite her lip. The language is a bit more than she would be using. Clark would be horrified if she did!

She lowers to the ground as she continues watching. Admittedly, this guy seems to be handling things well. He's got some skills. But what does the monkey have to do with this? Was it a good monkey or a bad monkey? Hero or villain? It was dressed like a hero but really, Canary could be mistaken for a villain easily enough by her outfits!

"I'd suggest running away," she calls out cheerfully. "He's better than you!"

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
The Monkey, for her part, squeels in obvious delight. She waves frantically at Austin, then points at Supergirl. Then she waves frantically at Supergirl as if to get the blonde's momentary attention. Then she takes a few deep calming breaths... then she goes into fangirl mode again. As for the thugs? They may have tries a three on one fight agienst an obviously well trained fighter... But when a Kryptonian decides to enter the fight, they decide that it is time to demonstrate the better part of valor. They run. The scaddaddle. The Vam-mose." Austin lets them run with a sigh and goes to check on the girl. She has a busted lip, but is otherwise okay and departs quickly as well, promising no more short cuts that night. Only when she is safe does he turn around with a huge grin. "Umm, Hi.... Uhh... huge fan..." He says offering a handshake..

Supergirl has posed:
As the monkey has a minor fit, Supergirl finds herself distracted. She turns to the monkey and offers a hand. Not really sure what to do with a monkey. Do you shake hand/paw? Do you offer to pick it up or pet it like a puppy? So the best she can do is offer that hand and the monkey makes the choice.

As the bad guys run away, Supergirl looks over at the young man. "I didn't mean to interrupt. You had them well in hand. No doubt about it." Which is a strange thing to say but she's trying to be supportive and doesn't realize she's sounding like a goofball. "Nice to meet you. Guessing you know who I am."

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Tina grips Supergirl's hand with both of her's, pumping vigorously for a moment, then scrambles up onto Kara's shoulder and starts chirping and chittering to her in a tone that sounds like she is being asked allot of rapid fire questions from an avid fan... Which would be the case, yah know, if Kara spoke monkey. Austin grins a bit, not seeming to think it was too goofball of a statement at all, brushing a bit of sandy brown hair away from his eyes. "Yeah, thanks. Still made it easier when you showed up. Master Tsung used to say the easiest way to fight when you are out numbered is to not fight when you are outnumbered. But yah know... the girl." He smiles a bit, and says "I'm Aus--" Then recalling his brief meeting with Batgirl, changes tracks "I'm Sentinel. That's Tina... and she /knows/ it's very rude to climb on people without permission." he adds in a tone of light scolding.

Supergirl has posed:
"Good she had permission then," Supergirl says as she reaches up a hand to brush a finger over Tina's head then she goes back to focusing on the vigilante in front of her.

"Nice to meet you both. And yes, code names are important. Took me a while to get used to it myself." Yes, even Supergirl has a real name. "Guessing you are kind of new to this?"

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Tina chirps again, pleasently at having her silken fur stroked... then she sticks her tounge back out at Austin and blows him a raspberry before returning to chitter her stream of questions to Kara.

Austing just sighs and smiles, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, pretty much." He admits. "I've only been at it a few months... Mostly just small time stuff you know?" He's obviously a bit embarrassed, after all one doesn't meet a personal hero/celeb-crush every day. "But you guys can't be everywhere... and if I can make a difference then I feel like I should.

Supergirl has posed:
"I've always agreed with that. Pointed that out to a lot of people. There are only so many heroes and there is always room for more," Supergirl says as she shrugs. One shouldered. The one that doesn't have a monkey sitting upon it. She doesn't want to jostle her biggest fuzzy fan. Well, she's assuming that's the biggest fuzzy one. She hasn't taken a follicle count really.

"What made you want to be a hero? Like at the level of going out with a codename?"

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Tina, staring wide eyed and grinning...well like a Monkey, mostly continues her stream of questions that might even be a bit personal... if one spoke monkey. Austin just grins slightly, nodding to his friend, "She has posters of you and Batgirl in her space in our apartment." he says with a grin before continuing. "Umm I guess it was because I could? Someone hurt someone I cared about... and I was able to do something about it. And When I took care of them I realized I could maybe stop the next person from being hurt /before/ they were hurt. Does that make any sense?"

Supergirl has posed:
She wishes she spoke monkey. First, so she could respond to Tina in a way that didn't involve giving her a little pet on the head and shaking hands or the like. It also seemed awful smart for a monkey. She's seen monkeys. Okay, mostly in a zoo. But they didn't seen on the level to be fans and have posters. "So Tina is a ...very special level for her species?" There, carefully phrased.

Then she focuses back on Sentinel. "That makes complete sense. If you have the abilitity to help others, to do so. You seem to be pretty good at it." He was doing fine before she showed up. "Been doing it very long?"

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Austin Dallas smiles a bit, looking a bit sad for his friend momentarily because he knows how frustrating it can be for her to simply not be able to express herself. "Mentally she's on about a third grade level." he says with an honest smile, "Which doesn't change the fact that she is probably the brains of the operation." The monkey pauses and chirps something at Austin. "And the looks." The fighter quickly amends." He holds his arm out and says, "Come on Tina," and reluctantly the Monkey jumps back over. Deciding to throw his friend a bone he adds, "I know one thing she's always want to know... how do you keep your skirt down while flying? The paparazzi must always be trying to get a inappropriate picture." Tina nods vigorously at his question and gives the Blonde alien beauty her full, wide-eyed attention as if she were about to impart the secrets of the universe."

To Supergirl's own question he says, "A few months. I only recently moved into my own place, yah know? And while dealing with a bunch of drugged up thugs could be...scary but exhilarating? Getting caught by my dad sneaking out after cerfew, that is terrifying.

Supergirl has posed:
Now that gets Supergirl laughing. Both the question from Tina and the answer form Austin. A light happy sound that is very fitting with the her image. "So you can understand her. That's very helpful. The trick on the skirt is angles. I'm aware of my angles. So when I'm around population, I keep myself turned just so." She considers then throws the rest out there. "I also have a way of blurring myself at times. I don't know a way to explain it. It helps with the secret identity thing. But that helps too. If someone does manage to see anything, it's no more than a cheerleader because I wear something underneath so there are no..." She almost blushes. "Flashes."

Then back to Austin. "So you are on your own in the city? That has to be scary. I still live at home. Course, flying at superspeed sort of helps with the commute," she admits with a shrug. "Although I've joined the Titans now so have a place more local to stay if I want. We're a group of younger heroes who are just trying to do what we can to help the world while working together to improve our skills."

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Austin Dallas smiles a little bit and waffles his hand. "I wouldn't say I /understand/ her... he says considering, "Not like you mean. I just know her well enough to usually be able to interpret the substance of what she is trying to get across if not the actual words. For instance after trying to deal with the skirt of her cheerleader costume flying up on her when she jumped around the apartment, she looked at me all frustrated and pointed at your poster vigorously and made allot of demanding noises. This I interpreted as "How does /she/ do it?" Tina smiles a bit at this and pats Austin's head like he was a puppy, pointing her thumb at him as if to say ~See, he's not as dumb as he looks.~

At he mention of the Titans Austin smiles a bit broader, "That must be awesome. At the very least having people around you who understand the difficulties of going out patrolling /and/ trying to do your research for Modern literature.

Supergirl has posed:
The pat on his head like she had gotten him trained well had Supergirl giggling again. "Well having the senses I do sort of helps with the skirt situation too. Being aware of people around and where. Might be another reason I can do it. Or maybe it's just a Kryptonian superpower I didn't realize. Not like the others have been out in skirts to see!" Now that was a visual she didn't need to give herself and she giggled. "But I see Tina wisely has chosen something more reasonable, although how do you avoid getting runs in your fishnets?"

Then she considers a moment. "Some of us are still in college. A few have gotten older, like our founders, but they come back from time to time. It's mostly us just figuring it out. I could introduce you, if you like. I apologize now cause Red Robin is super nosey and likely will figure out your secret identity and stuff but he'll keep it to himself at least. It's his way of feeling better about new people."

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
Austin Dallas freezes for a moment... After all it would be like having one of your favorite celebrities invite you to their exclusive club house to hang out sometime... only no that's exactly what its like. "Uhh..uhh.." Tina slaps him in the back of the head and that seems to get the needle past the skip. "Really? That would be amazing! And I mean it's not like I have much of a secret identity at the moment anyway... I mean my costume is a Gotham Knights hoodie." He says with a grin. Tina for her part just grins, then presses her hand to her chest and proceeds with a long lament of how difficult it is to avoid things like runs in her stockings, but how such sacrifices must be made in the name of beauty and fashion.

Supergirl has posed:
"Well you can share your identity if you want to. Some are open. I'm in the not so open category. My cousin taught me it can be dangerous for my family and he seems to know what he's doing," Supergirl admits. She grins a bit, "When we lost him a bit back, I felt like I wasn't good enough. It's why I joined the Titans myself. But yeah, I'll introduce you to the group!"

As for that whole lack of trust thing? Not high on Supergirl's radar.

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
But really, could someone be friends with Tina and not be completely trustworthy? He grins a bit, well like a monkey himself and nods. "Sure, that would be great? I mean when? Where? Should I like have a costume? I really don't have a costume... Does anyone, yah know design costumes?" Yeah he might be just a little excited by this prospect.

Supergirl has posed:
"Maybe some of the others will have better ideas. My Mom made mine. Although she had my cousin's help." And the Fortress but she wasn't going to mention that part. Some things didn't need to be shared!

"I'll get with the others, set up a meeting at Titans Tower. You can see what you think if you think it will be something that might help you. You have a number I can call you at? I sort of lost my cell earlier tonight." It was somewhere in the Atlantic but that was the best guess she had for a pinpoint location. Stupid sea monsters.

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
~Supergirl... just asked...for my digits.~ The thought is enough to almost put poor Austin into another momentary Blue Screen of Death mode. But fortunately Tina is there to save the day with another sharp slap to the back of his head. "Right, my phone number, uhh..." One advantage to having a "non-standard Superhero apparel" (See also: Fights crime in street clothes) is that he actually has pockets. From those pockets he manages to produce a napkin from Big Belly Burger and an ink pen that, honestly he has no clue where that pen came from Someone is probably missing a pen somewhere. He writes out his number and under it writes "Austin Dallas." considers and adds "A.k.a Sentinel." considers a moment longer and puts in "The guy in the hoodie with the monkey." then offers it over. "I mean call me any time... Well text first cause I almost never pick up unknown numbers? Or yah know leave a voice mail?"

Supergirl has posed:
If Supergirl is aware of the level of discombobulation she just caused, she never shows it. Once he has it all written down, she takes the napkin and reads what he wrote. That gets a giggle. "Nice to meet you, Sentinel. I better get home before my Mom gets too worried."

She folds the napkin up neatly and tucks it into her hand so it will be safe during the flight. "I'll text soon." Which is why the loss of a phone isn't a huge deal. Burner phones exist for a reason and she's pretty sure it is for superheroes.

Sentinel (Dallas) has posed:
That though, for some reason gives Austin a perverse sense of joy. Supergirl has to get home because her mom will worry. Maybe the biggest difference between heroes and normal people really is that desire to take what gifts you are given and use them to do good. He smiles a bit and offers her his hand and smiles, "I really can't say how much of an honor it really is to meet you ma'am." He offers before taking a step back to give her "Take-off" space.
