Date of Scene: 14 September 2021
Location: Breakstone Lake - Xavier's School
Synopsis: A night spent unwinding at the lake and talking to Jean.
Cast of Characters: Kit Killovarras, Phoenix

Kit Killovarras has posed:
It's a cool night, not quite too cold - or at least not cold for someone with fur - and tonight, a particular hyena can be found nearly at the waters edge, wearing very little in the way of clothing. He's got his typical pair of jeans on and his tank top and hoodie are a little ways away where they'll be dry, but he's currently just staring at the moonlight reflecting off the lake, slowly unbinding a series of bandages from around his arms and torso and rolling them up to be stowed away in a nearby backpack.

Phoenix has posed:
Whereas Jean has quite a lot of clothing on tonight. Jeans, and black boots, and a long dark red duster over the top of the rest. The front is open, revealing a pale green teeshirt. She is walking along the shore of the lake, enjoying the relative quiet and solitude to be found out here. As it happens, she's not far from Kit when he's removing his bandages.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Well, footfalls aren't something that tend to go unnoticed, especially by those ears and when Kit looks over, spotting Jean with those faintly glowing eyes of his, he pauses in rolling the bandage he's working on and gives a wave, making sure that it's a wide gesture, since not everyone can see as clearly in the dark as he can and he knows it. "Hello Headmistress." he calls to her with a warm smile.

Phoenix has posed:
And Jean isn't really trying to hide where she happens to be. The footfalls aren't overly loud, but neither are they overly quiet. She knows Kit is there, of course. She could feel his presence long before she ever got close to him. Never the less, she puts on a little smile and lifts her right hand to wave to him. "Hello, Kit," she calls back. She adjusts her direction to take her more directly in his direction, now. "Are you injured?"

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit gives an almost confused look at Jean when she asks if he's injured, then his ears perk up and he scratches the back of his head with a grin. "The bandages are more or less a precaution, in case I over-do it when I'm training." he says with a little laugh. "So no, I'm not injured, thankfully." Then he finishes rolling up one of the bandages and starts on another, unwinding it from his body and rolling it up. "How's your evening?" he asks with a little tilt of his head.

Phoenix has posed:
That Jean had to ask is a testament to how much she tries to give those around her as much privacy as her powers will allow her to. "Ah. That makes sense," she replies. "I'm glad. What kind of training have you been doing lately?" She stops when she's close enough that she can see Kit more or less clearly through the darkness. And turns to look out over the water that reflects the moon overhead. Though it is waxing crescent and doesn't give off a whole lot of light, the little it does give reflects nicely. "My evening has been pleasantly quiet. And yours?"

Kit Killovarras has posed:
"Endurance training mostly" Kit says with a little chuckle, "I've been pushing my body further and further, seeing how far I can go before something gives out." He gives a little shrug, stretching one of his arms after having fully unbound it. before giving Jean another glance, "Well, between training and trying to keep my mind from wandering, pretty restless actually." he admits with a little chuckle. "I've had a bit on my mind. I went and tracked down the guy I wound up in a fight with, got that issue settled." he says after a moment, looking back out at the lake.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey nods thoughtfully. "Endurance training is good. Each time, you find you can go a little bit longer, a little bit farther." She sounds like she approves. "Oh? Anything I can help you with?" Restless and having things on minds? Never a good combination! Jean takes a moment to sit down on the sand before looking back to Kit. "That's good, that the issue is settled."

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit nods a little, "I've managed to push myself a little too far sometimes, but it's generally getting harder and harder to do at this point." he says with a nod. "Yeah.. Honestly wish it could have been dealt with a little better. Jack still might never walk again.." he says as he sits down, pulling off the last bandage and rolling it up after tossing the two he'd been working on into the backpack. Then she asks if the restlessness is anything she can help with and he just gives her a glance and chuckles. "Probably not, I just have to figure out a way to keep myself distracted is all, it's why I've been out here training most nights. Well, that or hunting."

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey doesn't condemn Kit for pushing himself too hard sometimes. Lord only knows she's guilty of the same thing. "Jack's recovery is greatly up to him," she says. "That incident wasn't your fault, Kit. Jack wouldn't stop attacking you." She shakes her head a little bit and holds up a hand to forestall whatever he might say here. "I know. It doesn't help the guilt that follows." She sounds like she knows this problem very intimately.

Kit Killovarras has posed:
Kit nods slightly, pausing in winding up the bandage for a moment as he sighs. "I know it wasn't my fault, but it doesn't change what happened. No one deserves what I did to him." he says, then glances over to her and gives a little smile. "But, at least he's out of the coma and probably out of recovery by now. I decided to visit a couple days after you and Miss Munroe brought me back, even helped heal a lot of the damage that I did to him." Then he looks back out over the water and gives a little smile. "I have a feeling he'll do alright though. I may even know someone who can help get him back on his feet in time."

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey nods her agreement. "Nobody deserves what happens when we explode," she says quietly. Jean rises to her feet and dusts the sand off her pants and coat. She nods about Jack and someone to help him recover. "If there's anything I can do to expedite the process with that someone, please let me know. Enjoy your evening, Kit." Jean gives him a smile and then turns to continue along her walk.
