What little that is known about Kit Killovarras is often tied into tales of a monstrous animal that walks like a man. Shy, closed off and ever guarded, this gentle mutant may seem hard to approach and even harder to get close to, but there is something magical waiting for those who do.

Description:

More animal than man, this creature carries the distinct features of an Aardwolf, or African striped hyena. He's covered from the tip of his ears to the end of his tail in a tan, almost pale golden fur, striped horizontally along his arms, back and legs with a more tarnished brown and though he stands an impressive 6'6", he seldom stands at his full height. His eyes are a mismatch of colors, the left one a rich golden while the right holds a vivid red, though both seem to glow violet in the darkness.

History

History:

Born with an extreme mutation which rendered him visibly more animal than human, Kit grew up on a secluded stretch of land along the Nile river with his family, away from the prying eyes of civilization. Though he was never given a formal education, he learned what he knows from the teachings of his family. At the age of 12, his family discovered that he had a gift for magic and so, was taught first by his mother - being a mage in her own right - and then by his grandfather. Though it wasn't allowed, Kit would often sneak away from his families home to watch the nearby towns from afar, learning to stay out of sight due to the few encounters he had with the locals ending in harsh words or once, even with an older man attacking him for his physical appearance. At the age of sixteen he managed to convince his parents to let him travel, though under the threat that: If he doesn't write to them at /least/ once a month, they would track him down and drag him home.

Personality:

Kit often comes off as a shy, apologetic individual with a habit of being a klutz. He's not quick to trust others, but when he finds people he feels comfortable around, he is a kind and loyal person. If he sees someone in need, he is often compelled to help them if he can, even if doing so could put him in harms way. Tough he considers himself a good person, he isn't above doing something terrible and may even be willing to kill if there is absolutely no other choice.

Dimensional Mirage:
With a strange ritual performed, Kit acquired the ability to manipulate the energy that flows through him to create mirages, or reflections of his own inner imagination. Created by an outward flow of energy, this method of magic allows for stunning visual and auditory illusioins, but the method is not without flaws.

In comparison to the work of a true illusionist, any illusion created through this method will have a subtle but ever present 'shimmer' that can be seen by even the untrained eye. This makes spells of this nature mostly impractical in combat, but has a plethora of other uses, from stealth to entertainment.

These illusions require range of sight and an amount of concentration directly related to the scale and detail of the illusion being projected, as well as the images proximity to the casters physical being.

Eldritch Claws:
Kit is capable of projecting violet energy from his claws at will, allowing him to create four blade-like projectiles by swiping his claws through the air. While these blades can be quite dangerous, they equate to little less than a strike from a typical edged weapon. These projectiles can fly for a maximum of 30 feet, though losing some of it's potency at longer distances. while it is possible to use this ability repeatedly, it is quite taxing and will quickly lead to exhaustion.

Energy Shield:
Kit can channel a violet energy around his hands and arms, allowing him to create a small to medium sized defensive shield. This ability requires a fair amount of energy and is meant to be used as a reflexive defense, though it can be used as a sustained defense in a pinch so long as Kit hasn't been exhausted by sustained use of his magic. While a reflexive cast can be accomplished with one hand, a sustained shield requires the use of both hands.

Energy Surge:
In moments of great need and as an instinctive act of desperation, Kit can release a large surge of energy, amplifying the power of his magic for a short time, typically long enough to get off one or two more spells depending on their complexity. However, this ability will render him unconscious once it's duration ends .

Heightened Senses:
Because of his mutation, Kit's sense of smell and hearing are both closer to that of an Aardwolf - or African striped hyena - than that of a human. Likewise, his eyes can adjust to darkness remarkably fast, allowing for better low-light vision compared to an average person.

Mending Weave:
Kit is capable of mending nearly anything by 'painting' energy across it with his claws. This allows him to repair damage to both inanimate objects and living tissue, though the ability is limited in scope and becomes more difficult depending on the complexity of the damage done. For example: mending a broken vase or closing a stab wound would be rather simple while a broken window or broken bone would take far more time and effort to mend.

Minor Telekinesis:

Kit is capable of manipulating objects within the range of 30 feet outside his normal range of motion. It can be focused on multiple objects at once, but can't hold anything in excess of a total of 100Lbs. The heavier the total weight or number of objects involved the more focus is required.

Back Alley Ghost:
Given his inhuman nature, Kit has had to learn various tricks to allow him to go unnoticed when in more populated areas. Whether it's the right clothing to hide his appearance, the right detours to take or when to disappear down a dark alleyway, he seems to know how to minimize his contact with people.

Beautiful Voice:
Kit has always prided himself on his voice, spending most of his young life learning to use it for the sake of singing. When in the midst of a panic attack, he will often start singing to try and calm himself down, though this is - on rare occasions - a double-edged sword.

Mystic Studies:
Having studied magic from a young age, Kit is capable of identifying various forms of magic, from mundane ritual to the various schools of magic and even has some knowledge of the Spiritual Realms.

This study has taught him to a degree how to see where magic is at play and has imparted a set of rules he is almost compelled to follow when dealing with other magical beings. As well, while it can theoretically be used to identify other beings who are magically inclined, this aspect of his knowledge can only be reliably be used on those who are equal or lesser to him in power; more powerful beings would be capable of shielding themselves from it if they so choose.

While this knowledge is not all-encompassing, it is the culmination of the majority of his lifetime spent studying various aspects of magic.

Survivalist:

While he's good at not being seen, Kit has also had to learn how to survive on his own. Whether that means dealing with the occasional thug or finding shelter in a crowded city, or building a fire and foraging some food in more rural areas, he's taught himself well how to survive alone.

Loving Family:

Kit's parents are the protective sort and though they agreed to let him travel, they demanded that he write to them every month. In response they will often send him care packages, from snacks and trinkets to remind him of home, to money and always with a letter in response. If for any reason he fails to write to them on time, they will mysteriously manage to show up wherever he is.

Charged Metabolism:
Another side effect of the physically taxing nature of his magic is Kit's metabolism. Due to constant exertion, he requires an abnormal amount of food and water while recovering from exhaustion. with inadequate nourishment, he could theoretically be held in a near-powerless state indefinitely.

Clumsy By Nature:
Due to the nature of his mutation, Kit has a few more appendages than a normal human being. Having been raised by a family that catered to these unique needs in every aspect of his young life, he lacks a certain spacial awareness when it comes to these appendages and often finds himself bumping into or knocking things over by accident.

Delicate Senses:
Due to his heightened senses, it is also much easier to overpower his sense of hearing or smell. Sharp noises or nauseating smells will often affect him worse than the typical person and due to his eyes being more adapted for darkness, they can not adjust to a sudden shift from dark to light as easily.

Inhuman Appearance:
Because of his mutation, it is entirely impossible for Kit to pass as human without concealing the majority of his body. Due to his size and his beast-like appearance, many people might regard him as a freak or a monster and may even react with violence of fear.

Self Conscious:
Kit is remarkably self conscious, having a number of insecurities stemming from his appearance and lack of social skills. He is often unsure of his potential in many given situations and is actually terrified of being stared at. When put into the wrong situations, these issues can manifest as self-doubt, anxiety and even anger, making it hard for him to focus.

The Price of Power:

Kit's powers come from the fact that he instinctively draws energy from the various dimensions of the multiverse, using his physical body as a lens. This process is physically taxing to say the least and comes at the price of physical strain. If he were to push himself past his limitations, it could mean anything from exhaustion, physical injury and in the most extreme cases, unconsciousness or even death.
