Working the Late Night Shift
Date of Scene: 15 October 2021
Location: Mel's Diner - Breakstone
Synopsis: A light night shift, turns out to be fruitful, with first Faith dropping by, and telling Sarah that she can help kill the werewolves across the road.
Cast of Characters: Sarah Connor, Faith Lehane

Sarah Connor has posed:
Usually Sarah works the noon shift. It pays better money, and if she needs to get a sub, there are always waitresses lining up for it. Even though she's a new-ish waitress, her smile, and her quick dealings with customers had her on the lunch spot really quickly.

(Just don't mention her smile.)

Today she had switched with Mary so that she could watch her son's band play at the Bronze. And Mary had taken her weekend shift. Less money, but she had things to do on the weekend. Win-Win, except for the tips.

Right now? The diner was empty. Which meant filling up the salt and peppers, and sugar containers. Boring.

Faith Lehane has posed:
Ding Ding.

The little bell on the door announced someone entering. It was an older styled setting so it was fitting to have the bell. Plus on nights like tonight, if they were working in the back, they might not realize someone had come in otherwise.

Faith was dressed as she usually did. Jeans, a denim jacket and a red tank top. Boots on her feet with the clunky sole and heel, giving another inch to her height. She headed over to a booth, glancing out the window as she did so, making sure she had a good view of the building across the street and caddy corner. It's where her mark was supposed to be.

But until they showed up, she was hungry. Slaying did that to a girl. Or anticipating of slaying. Or maybe she just hadn't reached her daily requirement of greasy burgers.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Just a minute!" Really Sarah had a 'waitress persona' when she was working.

She was standing her back against the back wall with her eyes on the diner. Of course. But no sooner had she given her pleasant greeting, when she discovered who the person was.

The persona started to break at the edges.

Still she grabbed up a menu, and headed to the booth. As she gets closer she nodded to herself, after all, this would have been the exact same booth she would have chosen. "Hi Faith." Without the persona. "Let me guess, food and who have I seen recently?"

Faith Lehane has posed:
Seeing the familiar face had Faith grinning. Especially at the question which had her laugh softly. "Well I was just here for the food but if you want to throw me a bone, I won't complain. I didn't even realize you worked here."

She waved a hand at the offered menu. "I'm guessing you guys have burgers here? Hopefully onion rings but fries will do in a pinch."

Sarah Connor has posed:
"I work here, usually in the daytime. There's always someone who is looking for an odd shift or three." She shrugs. Faith should be familiar with needing to follow something *right now*. "Actually, it's strange. The usual Thursday night crowd seems to have gone. And there's no rain in the forecast at all. It's been quiet tonight." Very quiet.

Sarah wouldn't have called it creepy. But it was.

"Sure we have burgers!" You could almost hear the 'd'uh'. "And I think Peter, the cook, could always throw on some onion rings." If only so that he could nab a few of them himself.

Faith Lehane has posed:
"THen that'll work for me. A pop of some sort. Coke, Pepsi, whatever you carry," Faith added as she glanced back out the window toward that building. THen back over to Sarah.

"Well, there is a pack of werewolves living across the street so maybe. Not the ones that just try to behave but the ones that like what they are and have no problem killing off people. Not the full moon so they are changing on purpose. I've been waiting for their Alpha to show so I can take him out. Do that and the pack will likely be easy pickings."

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Really? You don't say. Give me a minute." And with that Sarah went over to the kitchen and put in her order, then quickly returned. "Can they be overtaken with rifles? Because in an hour I'm done."

Faith Lehane has posed:
"Silver is their weakness. Bullets if you have 'em. I tend to use a knife cause I don't like guns."

Which may seem strange for a Slayer not to use a more efficient means of doing such things but the guns thing had always backfired on them. Not literally. But thing seemed to be worse when guns got involved instead of sticking to the basics.

"But if you want to give it a whirl, you're welcome to come along."

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Silver, huh? So the old witches' tales are true, then." Which made Sarah wonder: how many others were true as well? This was two of them, vampires and werewolves. "I've got regular ammunition."

Okay, she had some very not so usual ammunition, complete with taking out terminators. But not silver bullets.

"Up to you. I mean these are your monsters. I get it. I wouldn't want just anybody helping me take out the terminators." She could already see it, having to rescue them as well as taking terminators out. It usually was simpler to not involve anyone else.

Though she hadn't met Faith, or Hannibal before now.

Faith Lehane has posed:
"You used to fighting and killing with a knife? If you're more a gun kind of gal, better to keep you out of this one until you develop the skills," Faith says honestly. The woman would be more a problem to have in a fight if she didn't have the right training for it. It was just practical. Otherwise, Faith would have to be watching both their backs. And she was sure Sarah would understand that without being offended.

"So I'll just enjoy my burger and then go take care of business. You can wait around if you want and, should I come out running, shoot them in the head and at least they will slow down so we can likely get away."

Sarah Connor has posed:
Ah. Street fighting. Something she was *excellent* at.

Sarah shrugged. "I can hold my weight out there." Not everyone was a terminator, and Sarah didn't kill humans. And once in a while she had to beat off a terminator with her own two hands."Up to you though." She grinned. "I still don't have silver knives." But she did have long ones.

Faith Lehane has posed:
"We'll stick to you backing me up from the outside then. I only have one silver knife. I suggest you get one. Occult stores sell them. Magic Box in Sunnydale could hook you up for a good price."

Because Faith wasn't going to suggest she go somewhere else. Giles needed the income!

"It's a place where I get my supplies." Without the rest of the story cause really, that's where things get crazy.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"The Magic Box?" Sarah asked that with one brow raised. To her mind it was one of two kind of places: 1) a silly little store that sold to the masses some pretend 'magical' things, or, 2) the real deal.

Given that Faith says that she bought her stuff there, she leaned towards the second type of store. Which was reasonable considering the stores in South America selling voodoo and such.

Faith Lehane has posed:
"I didn't name it," Faith said in her defense. "But a friend runs it. To the mundanes, it'll seem like a novelty place. To those that get it, they will recognize he sells real items as well. Things for witchcraft but also other things. Guy who runs it is okay. Can be trusted."

Faith glances back out the window, toward her target location. Still no activity so she looks back to Sarah.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Sarah was facing the window as well. No movement over there.

"Ah. Sorta like voodoo shops for the tourists, and then there was voodou stores. Usually not like on the television." But she was thinking 'Am I the sort of person who would shop in the store, legitimately?'. Of course, she did need a few new knives. And looking at the thing she had met she was probably going to be using a silver knife for her own protection.

"Is it normal to be so quiet?" She nodded with her chin at the crossroads. "I mean..?"

Faith Lehane has posed:
"Honestly yes. Because they like to go out hunting. Sometimes they run as singles. Other times, they are singular. This place over here is a pack but the Alpha usually comes home first. Makes sure there are no threats. He's very careful. But that's going to be his problem cause he'll be alone when I go over. Course, I have a four minute window before the others show up so it'll be tight."

Seems Faith has actually done her homework on this one. Giles and B would be so proud.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Four minutes. A whole two minutes after she would be done with a terminator. Well, after she'd 'killed' it. They did not deserve a name or a gender. They were 'it'. Simple as that. Although Cameron sort of ruined that. She was a terminator. She also wasn't quite that same as the rest. Something which made Sarah slightly on edge to contemplate.

"So.. What you are saying is you'd like a little more time with the pack leader. I can handle that. Say, a minute more?"

Faith Lehane has posed:
"Just keep an eye. I should be done long before that. But just in case something goes weird in there, better to have someone slowing them down. Despite the thoughts of some other people, I'm not completely stupid." Faith can't help grinning a little at that because really, she is a rush in first gal. She's learning though. Slowly. When she can keep her emotions out of it.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Sarah was happy to let Faith pull the shots, unless she, herself, was in trouble. Then all bets were off. Maybe Faith was used to running around others who got their kicks by showing off. Not true with Sarah. There was only one type of enemy that she knew beyond a doubt she *was* the top notch killer. The rest? She was happy to stand back and listen.

"Sounds good. And I gotta check my till for the next person. Then I'm yours."
