Treats for a Chilly Morning
Date of Scene: 20 November 2021
Location: Wanda's Room, Avengers Mansion
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch

Quicksilver has posed:
The white-haired speedster has been awake for a little while already today. It's a cloudy day, and the clouds are the sort that are grey and hang low as though to threaten frozen precipitation. It's pretty early in the morning yet, too early to be the middle of the morning but past dawn at the same time.

Pietro has decided to treat his sister to a bit of a surprise. And so he's run, through the mansion and out and to the city. Up and down a few of the city streets at random simply to patrol a little bit, and then he popped into a cafe. He gets a chai tea for himself, a chai tea the way his sister prefers it to be, and then a half dozen pretty (and delicious) pastries. After paying, he runs back to the mansion, getting speckled with flurries of snow along the way. He returns to his sister's room, and settles his prizes on the chai tea table before reaching for his tea.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
There are days Wanda is awake, up, and about long before now. And then, there are days where she is not. There are days like today, where she's still curled up in her bed. All tucked in and body fully covered under the blanket but for her face. Pietro's exit hadn't brought her to full awakeness. But his entry upon returning had. She blinks her eyes open, then yawns and stretches. She can't help it. It's what happens when first waking up.

She turns her head to look at her brother. "You just couldn't sleep another hour, could you?" The tone is accusatory, but mostly of the teasing variety. Annoyed at being woken up, and not, at the same time. It's probably past time she should have been up and out of bed anyway. Wanda still hasn't gotten out of the bed, and the blankets remain up at midsection or so. Her hair isn't neat and tidy, and will likely be an entertaining sort of 'style' when she eventually gets up.

Quicksilver has posed:
At least he didn't pull the blankets off of her once he got back! He could have, to wake her up that way. Yet he didn't. It was likely wiser not to. Lifting his free hand, he lightly scruffs his fingers through his hair and then his hand settles to his lap. He takes a sip of his tea, and a lock of his hair falls forward over his forehead. He ignores it, though. He's used to it happening.

Turning his head, he looks to his sister and quirks a grin. "You should be thankful that I sleep as long as what I do," he comments, sounding a touch amused. "I brought you chai tea. And pastries," he offers, grinning at her again as he watches her start to get up. "I have been awake for a while already, you know," he teases. He could have been louder when he woke up, but he generally goes to some lengths to be quiet and not wake her up.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
If he had pulled the blankets off her to wake her up, he'd have found himself teleported somewhere less than desirable. Last time had been a thorough dunking in ice water. In the Arctic circle. Next time could be lava pits somewhere equally inhospitable. Wanda grunts. "You should be thankful I don't change the locks," she points out. Wanda stretches once more, and then tosses the blankets back.

She sits up and turns to put her legs over the side. She's wearing what she habitually sleeps in, since she shares the room with her brother a lot. Fuzzy pants, red and white Christmas theme this time. And a teeshirt that's plain and white. "The pastries better be good," she threatens. Then, "Hand over the tea." Right. Someone's really not awake yet.

Quicksilver has posed:
It had been an unpleasant and extremely frigid experience, the last time. It was very good incentive to not do it again. At least for a little while. Maybe longer than a little while. "Ah, well... yes, I should be. But if you did change the locks, then how could I bring you tea and pastries, hmm? And have them here for you to be able to enjoy while you are still in your pyjamas," Pietro points out, a note of amusement to his voice. He has a point!

"Yes, yes... they are good, I promise. I would not bring you bad ones, you know that. I have had them before, from there. They have a very talented baker," he comments, giving a nod. He picks up her cup of tea and then easily rises to his feet, carrying it over to her and offering it. "Tea, Sister-dearest," he says, a smile quirking his lips.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
That's almost certainly why Wanda had chosen /that/ location. And then floated above the water staring down at him while she watched him flounder. "That's kind of the whole point, P," she says. "If I changed the locks, you wouldn't be here to wake me up /to/ give me tea and pastries. I'd still be sleeping. That's the entire point." Oh yeah. Someone definitely woke up grumpy. In point of fact, she's not stopped shooting glares at him since he'd come back into the room. His point has been thoroghly invalidated.

She holds out her hand to accept the tea cup, narrowed eyes still fixed on Pietro. As though to say, the tea better not disappoint either, or you're toast! Wanda sips the tea, and finds herself slightly appeased. The tea is good. With her other hand, she makes gimme gimme motions toward the pastries even as she rises to her feet. Her feet take her toward the couch. And yes, she's fully intent on making Pietro wait on her.

Quicksilver has posed:
The incident is one that Pietro remembers well. It had been damn cold. He exhales a breath at her logic that turns his point invalid, and he wrinkles his nose slightly before shaking his head once. "This is a true thing. But you like the chai tea, and you like pastries," he says, watching her. "You are being grumpy this morning, Sister dearest," he points out in a gentle tone. "I was trying to be quiet when I returned," he adds.

"They make a very good chai tea. Fresh ground spices for it. There are not many places that make it so," Pietro says, raising an eyebrow slightly. He reaches out to the box of pastries to open the lid of them, and all six are in flavours that Wanda prefers. He likes them as well, but he picked her favourites. He picks up the box and holds it up in offer to her.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda Maximoff fully means to take her time too. She has every intention of making her brother wait for her. And every intention of enjoying her tea and pastries. She pauses to shoot Pietro another glare. "You. Woke. Me. Up." She takes a breath. "Of course I'm grumpy. You would be grumpy too." Wanda shakes her head. "You failed at being quiet. Failed soo very hard."

An affirmative sound follows his words anout the chai. It's quite delicious. She takes another sip of it, in fact. She pauses in front of the now open pastry box and considers the contents. She winds up picking a raspberry bismark and flopping on the end of the couch to om nom it.

Quicksilver has posed:
One of his eyebrows quirks up at her words, and he turns to look towards her, meeting her glare. He shifts a bit where he sits on the couch, and then he gives a nod. "Yes. I did wake you up. And I am sorry, but I will at least try to make it worth your while," he says. Then he gives a bit of a wry chuckle before taking a sip of his own tea, and he lifts one of his shoulders in a bit of a shrug. "I am often a grumpy ass. But I am trying to be better and to be nice to people so that I can have that thing you keep calling 'friends'," he says with amusement, a smile tugging his lips.

"I will try harder to be quiet for you. Or I could always just phase through the wall," he comments. He likely wouldn't really do the latter of that, even though it's something he can do. He waits as she takes that first sip of her tea, and he seems to relax when that affirmative sound comes from her. "You see? It is good," he says, sounding pleased. "What shall we do today, sister?" he asks, curious.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
The wordless growl that meets his words is full of not only menace but promise. He better make it worth her while, or Wanda will make him pay for it. Brother or not. "Friends don't wake people up at this hour of the morning," she says flatly.

"You realize I can feel it when you phase through walls, don't you?" Wanda pauses and eats a bite of donut, swallowing before she continues. "That would wake me up too." Damned if he does. Damned if he does not. "You said /you/ would make it worth my while. Start talkin'. I'm not making it so easy on you as to provide a destination."

Quicksilver has posed:
There are some mornings where it doesn't matter what he does, he's essentially damned before he's even started. Today might be one of those days. Already. "Well then I guess it is a good thing that instead of a friend, I am a brother. Family is different. I used to wake you up this early many times when we were younger. It was still for food, but it was different then," he comments, a touch wistfully. Back when they had been on their own. Those had been different times.

"Ah, well... yeees?" he suggests, a bit hesitantly. Really? She can feel him phasing through walls? That really shouldn't surprise him! "How am I to surprise you with the kindness of a breakfast if there is nothing that I can do that will not wake you up, hmm?" he asks, mildly grousing. He quirks a bit of a grin that has a touch of cat-that-ate-the-canary in it. "I have us a reservation for dinner tonight, at Ai Fiori. Will that make it worth your while enough?" he suggests. It's an Italian restraurant that's earned a good rating which makes it a bit lengthy to get into and expensive.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
He wouldn't have been damned. Not if he hadn't woken Wanda. That was the only real mistake he'd made. And she'll forgive him for it. Eventually. Probably. Wanda growls again. "So help me, I will murder you in your sleep, Pietro." She glowers at him for bringing up the past. That was then. This is now.

She's Wanda. Nothing should really surprise him where she's concerned. Wanda is a law unto herself. "Simple. Surprise me with lunch instead. You don't have to risk me killing you that way." Her eyes narrow at the following words. She glances to the clock on the wall. Then back to him. "Dinner. It's not even eight in the morning, Pietro. Why did you feel the need to tell me about a dinner that's ten hours away at the earliest, at this hour?? What has gotten into you?" Now she fixes him with a stare, and her eyes start to gleam with crimson flames.

Quicksilver has posed:
The trick of it is the not waking up Wanda part. She either hears or senses just about everything that he might do that would grant him entry to the room. Lifting his free hand, he lightly pulls his fingers through his hair in order to tussle it a bit. Then he takes a sip of his tea, and he tries hard not to fidget there where he sits. He doesn't take any of the pastries, instead leaving them for her. "Ah, well... I would rather die by your hand than by another's," he comments, a smile quirking his lips.

"I can surprise you with lunch instead, if you would rather. Pick a place, any place you like, and I will buy you anything that you want," Pietro says, his blue eyes showing a sparkle to them. He quirks a grin, and then he gives a nod. "Dinner, yes," he affirms, watching her. Then he tilts his head a touch to one side, and his brow furrows a little bit as her magic comes to life, and he gives a small shake of his head. "I have been keeping this a secret for months since I made the reservation. I would think that you would be proud of me for managing to keep it a surprise for that long rather than think that there was something wrong with me," he comments, sounding terribly amused.
