Cast of Characters: Star-Lord, Gigas

Star-Lord has posed:
Raken was the focus for the Brood, it seemed. It's the closest system to Brood space on the Shi'ar border, and their usual tactics -overwhelm and covert- continue to be effective there, despite the Imperiums best efforts.

What most people don't realize -and what Gigas has learned the hard way- is that the rest of the border is just as vulnerable, and a number of weak outposts have made it clear that the Brood have been probing for ways to get through.

Luckily for Gigas, Star-Lord is actually a decent strategist, and has been sending Gigas to intercept a number of Brood raids over the last couple of months.

Today, an ambush in coordination with a local Shi'ar garrison has given Gigas the opportunity to be launched in a breaching pod right at a supercarrier in an asteroid field. His pod was concealed on one of the larger rocks, and the Shi'ar have been doing a fighting retreat to direct that carrier over it's path.

Right on time, Gigas can feel the stealth systems activate as the One Man boarding party is essentially thrown by railgun at it.

His job? Get to the bio-reactor and turn it to slag. Luckily, these ships are pretty packed in, so the psionic oppressors -one of the few weapons in the universe that can actually cause Gigas agony- will be of limited use with all the walls... assuming this ship blocks them.
Gigas has posed:
It can be difficult being the strongest being in the galaxy (uncertified..) While fame and infamy are things that Gigas craves to fuel his persistent search for new sensations, challenges and answers to the burning questions of meaning to existence ...at least when somewhat drunk..it also comes with being in high demand during times like this. A galactic scale crisis that needs heroes to answer the call..even if some heroes have a mercenary edge to their nature and are not as altruistic as some might prefer them to be.

Nevertheless, the blue behemoth has given the bulk of his time to this war effort. A certain awareness of things that were, are and must be in the cosmos pings within him: This is necessary and they must win. It's hard to say no when you have an ego like his coupled with an unfortunante cosmic sense for the state of things.

But that doesn't mean he has to like it. The constant deployments can wear thin even on him. AFter this they might have to start recruiting another space worthy bruiser who can keep up with him. Share the load or something. "Beginning mission!" he rumbles into his comm link, His wrist bands beeping, sending his transmission over the secured channels as his craft goes hurtling towards the supercarrier. "I will..try not to have -too- much fun this time." he adds before ending his message and then bracing for the impending impact as the carrier rapidly rushes towards him.
Star-Lord has posed:
Of course, having too much fun might end up getting Gigas into a line of Oppressors, so there's that too.

There's a long period of silence as Gigas watches the sensors on the pod tell him he's nearly about to crash into the gigantic Brood fleet ship. There's no Hivefleet that Gigas knows about... but there are definitely support vessels in this group of raiders, but this garrison doesn't exactly have the best sensors in the universe, so who knows where this group came from?

*BOOM!*

The pod shakes with the impact against the hull, and Gigas can feel the anchors grip the bioskin. Another moment has the diamond breaching device saw through. A moment later has the 'clean cut' charges fire, sending the panel of cut skin away from the pod, along with the hatch.

Gigas is in. So far? Nothing... but that just means he caught them by surprise. There's no doubt thousands of drones coming this way to deal with him.

The bio-reactor is... thataway. Near the back. Probably.
Gigas has posed:
The cosmic strongman emerges onto the deck with a booming rumble of his great weight. He stretches, unfolding to his full size as the pod was fundmentally cramped despite their best efforts at providing a comfortable ride. His eyes flicker this way and that and he purses his lips before stepping forward with slow steps that gradually increase in pace and rumbling force.

Bravado has its place but Gigas - despite his buffoonish nature and verbiage, knows that matters can easily turn against him and become rather untenable should sloppiness occur or what little information that they do have regarding this ships defenses and the location of the reactor turn out to be false. On a scale of 10 his invulnerability is somewhere around.. 9.75 and that number drops and then starts dropping some more when the Brood's unique weaponry starts to enter the equation.

But his strength is an 11. At least. And that is the weapon for he has been called to use.

His lumbering steps soon turn into a jog and then finally a pounding run as he sprints his colossal frame in the direction indicated by his wristbands. "Alright!" he rumbles at the AI, "Guide me quickly! No time for turns or for getting lost either!"

The AI of his tech beeps helpfully though with some concern given that what he means is that any wall in his way is about to be plowed through.
Star-Lord has posed:
Without schematics, the AI guiding Gigas is processing probabilities on the fly... which more often than not means he tells Gigas to 'go through that wall'.

Turns out being able to remodel a ship at will when you don't care if it remains intact is very helpful in maintaining direction.

Still, Gigas does start to occasionally see various drones of coverted species. There are no soldier exosuits this time like during that city siege... this time he can see the horrible results of Brood parasite takeover as pistol sized oppressors start to come to bear.

So far, no hits yet... but no doubt those... engineering?... drones have alerted the hivemind to his location.
Gigas has posed:
"You're going to have to do better then that!" exclaims Gigas to his guiding systems as another wall caves in around him like so much dry plywood. "Can't you be more specific? I do not wish to go running straight through the hull and out into space!"

He would survive, mind you, and go tumbling out into the void and even be able to manuever around with his equipment but.. the small speed of the thrusters attached to his legs is less then microscopic to the vastness of the local region.

Sinew as thick as suspension bridge cables shred through another wall and he grimaces upon seeing the handiwork of the Brood on display..but has no time to reflect or dwell on the matter. The destruction of the reactor will be message enough regarding his feelings on these matters.

"Come on now." he urges his guide. "Let's do better then this!"
