Cast of Characters: Nightwing, Black Canary

Nightwing has posed:
Darkness.

Night fell in Gotham City. The rain was always heavy. Near torrential. Yet the streets were as crowded as they had ever been. Even still, crime never rests. The night gives no mercy to the innocent, where criminals prey on them from the shadows. Wolves among sheep. Thankfully, even when the Dark Knight is busy - there's still heroes willing to do something about it.

One hero was Nightwing.

Normally, he stuck to Bludhaven. But since returning to Gotham, Nightwing has been making waves again. Some criminals have connected the dots that he's the former Boy Wonder, but that doesn't stop them from broken limbs. One outing left Nightwing particularly tired...and wondering about a certain blonde asskicking machine.

So, the next day? He was on a flight in a private jet.

If Dinah was in the shop? She'll see a certain police officer step through the door of her shop during hours...
Black Canary has posed:
"Hello, ..." The voice of the clerk falters as he takes in Dick's uniform. "... officer?" It's not the Starling PD uniform, so there's a moment of brain freeze as he figures it out.

Then, understanding there may be guests involved at cop conferences or something, he snaps out of the confusion.

"How can I help you sir?" he asks.

The familiar voice cuts in from the door opening in the back. "Don't worry about it Frank. He's with me."

Dinah steps into the place, not particularly tall yet somehow still filling the room with her presence. She's dressed in jeans a size too small and a babydoll tee two sizes too small, a loose leather jacket over all that.

"Heya, Dick. What brings you to Starling?"

Frank, satisfied that he doesn't have to do anything, goes back to clerking stuff: inspecting flower bundles for blooms to be removed, sweeping, watering, etc.

"It's been a while. Good to see you."
Nightwing has posed:
Since when does Dinah have a clerk to do stuff for her? Must be nice to move up in the world. Dick turns to look at 'Frank' when he asks the question. "I'm looking for-"

He hears her voice and Dick turns his head to look at her. It's clear that his eyes give her a once over, but he approaches her and he takes off his hat. "You." He answers plainly and bluntly. A kind look in his eyes. "Likewise, Dinah. You look good." he remarks.

"The place looks great too. Upgrades?" He runs a hand through black hair, stylish and with a natural shine to it.
Black Canary has posed:
"Ever since I hired Frank and Elsa," Dinah says, "the shop's been doing better. Too much closing down at random times for indeterminate durations had an impact on business. Imagine that!"

She grins and steps into a tight hug before releasing and stepping back.

"So with Frank and Elsa keeping the shop alive, we're doing better business. I've been able to spruce up the place"

Beat.

"So how the Hell are you? Life got too boring in sleepy old Bludhaven so you came up to lively Starling to see if you could score a job here where the action is?"

Blue eyes twinkle as she talks.

"Figure I might be able to put in a good word for you with the comish?"
Nightwing has posed:
"Yeeaaaah nah." Dick laughs. "This is crazyville from what I've heard. Feel like the cops don't want a cop from second rare crime-filled city like Gotham, but a guy can always hope. I /do/ want to try the pancakes up here." Grayson remarks with a smirk on his face.

Suddenly, he's part of a tight hug, his arms wrapping around her with his head on her shoulder as he held her tight. After a moment, when she releases, he'll release her. "I missed you too." His blue eyes twinkle a bit, a shine and meaning to them as he regards her.

"I like boring Bludhaven. Plenty of work, and I feel weird being in a place without all that rain." He chuckles. "Frank /and/ Elsa? Hah, got a small staff here Huh?" he smirks.

"Place looks great. Hopefully you haven't made the schedule /too/ wild." A wink.
Black Canary has posed:
Frank's got Monday to Thursday. Elsa's got Friday and the weekend 'cause Frank's a wild child and doesn't do weekends.

Frank gets a grin tossed his way as he waves off in embarrassment.

"More seriously, Elsa's a student and wants the weekend slots so she can study in the slower times."

Dinah shrugs and stretches as is her habit when she's standing idle, being terrible at the whole standing still thing, vibrant ball of energy that she is.

"So, what shall we do now you're here? Wanna see the sight?" She stresses that final word, to call attention to it being singular, not plural. Starling's a bit of a boring city. "Wanna visit the dojo and get your ass kicked again? Head out and have real pancakes? Maybe, if you're lucky, I'll even get you a nanaimo bar!"
Nightwing has posed:
"Seems like a pretty fair splitting of the time." And it's WAY easier to pay part time than full. Dick is tempted to come up here to help Dinah from time to time, but too bad she's got most of this managed, if not all of it. Though Dinah stretches most noticeably, and it's hard not to notice hard muscles that ripcord underneath soft skin.

Wow.

"Hah! Singular? I think I already did." He winks at Dinah, subtly calling her beautiful. "Pretty sure I kicked your ass last time." he laughs. "Bug that sounds fun. So does pancakes...maybe fighting /then/ pancakes?" Hd grins.

"The hells a Nanaimo bar?"Dick questions curiously.
Black Canary has posed:
Frank stares. Dinah stares. There's dead silence for a moment.

"You don't..." Frank starts. "...know what..." Dinah continues. "...a nanaimo bar is?!" they both end in unison, incredulity in both their voices.

Dinah starts a high five behind her without looking, and Frank completes it before going back to his work.

"Oh, wow. I'm insanely jealous of you. You're going to taste your first nanaimo bar. I'd give anything to have that first experience again!"

Dinah mimes writing a list. "Change in schedule: bakery to get some bars, then I kick your ass at the dojo, then pancakes." She glances across at Frank. "Want me to pick you up a few?"

Frank's affirmative nod seals the deal.

"OK, off we go, Dick. Those nanaimo bars ain't buyin' themselves!"

...

"How did you get out here? Am I going to have a passenger on the bike?"

Smart people don't want to be her passenger. Only insane people like being a passenger on her bike while she's riding. The single most dangerous component on her bike is the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat.
Nightwing has posed:
"Nope."

Dick tilts his head. "But points for talking in stereo. Is the bar a Canadian thing?" Dick asks curiously, laughing as it's declared that he's gonna get dragged to try this bar that's got Dinah and Frank in a huff. "Alright, sounds great."

He starts walking with Dinah. "Brought my bike. Either I can passenger with you or you can passenger with me." Bold move, Grayson.

Last time Hd road with her they caught some /serious/ hangtime. Dick looks at Frank. "If she's not back in two hours, just start partying." He finger guns playfully.
Black Canary has posed:
"I always have the backup plan," Frank says dryly. "I know where the safe is and the combination. If she goes missing, I abscond with all the funds and set myself up in Prince George in a two-bedroom bungalow."

Beat.

"It's all I could afford with the funds from this place."

Seems Frank has a bit of bite!

"Hey!" Dinah says, laughing, "I'm feeling attacked!" She then turns to Dick. "You're riding with me," she decides. "I hate being a passenger." She starts striding in the direction of her Harley, stopping mid-stride to look at Dick. "You in town long enough to watch the band? We're playing in Deep Anger on Friday." Beat. "It's a live-band rock bar."
Nightwing has posed:
"...Yikes."

Dick covers his face with a hand, fingers parting as if to peek at Frank and Dinah, especially when Dinah claps back at Frank. Though when told he's riding with Dinah, Dick smirks.

"Deal."

"I took the whole week off. I'm all yours." Dick smiles. "I didn't book a hotel though. I should figure that out." He sighs. He's the worst at planning hotels ahead. "I'd love to hear your band play. Long as I get a backstage pass." He winks at her.

He walks towards her bike, giving her a shoulder bump. "So what's been new with you? I feel like it's been forever."
