As folks come to the courtyard of the venue that Splattercon!!! is currently hosted at, it is very apparent that the convention is in full swing. Then again, with a convention centered around slasher movies, a wild looking crowd dancing around a freaking bonfire should not be much of a surprise. The bonfire is truly the star of this particular event. While a couple of the featured guests have snuck in to view the festivities, they go mostly unhassled.
The bonfire is set in the center of the courtyard with a general bit of decor marking off the 'do not cross' radius of the spectacle. Off to the far end of the courtyard there is a stage where a DJ is set up, providing the rhythmic sounds needed for the various positions the revelers are taking.
Off to the other side of the courtyard is the refreshment table. A prop knife sticks out of the surface of the table, with a thin line of red stickyness seemingly creeping over towards the punch bowls sporting a deep red liquid. A lot of the finger foods also have a bit of red to them. And while the bleeding fondant fingers are a nice touch, considering how many are still around, it's a question to if there are enough brave souls to test if that really is jelly.
There is a large assortment of costumes out there and an oversaturation of the classics. There's at least eight different Michael Myers dressed persons wandering around Each of with with their respective plastic, cardboard, and aluminum foil knives on hand. Each of which have been peace bonded by convention security. There's even two people dressed like Dominic from Life Bites! Although, that could very well be their own clothes. Wearing dark clothing isn't unheard of for a slasher convention.
But the most Dominic looking one of all isn't even wearing that attire. The one who originated the role is hanging with the featured guests. Two of which look like older versions of the main protagonists of the film. Nick takes a sip from the plastic cup he acquired from the refreshment table.
