Cast of Characters: Supergirl, Lois Lane

Supergirl has posed:
Having returned to Earth only very recently, Kara is making rounds to all of her closest friends to let them know she's home. With a trip to Kansas behind her, catching up with Clark and Martha, it's back to Metropolis where she's got two very important stops to make. One of them she can put off for a while, who really needs to work, but the other is far more important.

Having stopped at a coffee shop in the Daily Planets lobby, because no self respecting news outlet is going to not have a coffee kiosk, Kara makes her way up to where she remembers Lois' office being. Wearing a faux fur lined leather coat over a white blouse, brown below the knee skirt, and heels, she probably looks like a gopher coming back with coffee for the boss.

When she's standing at Lois' door, there's a gentle rap with the back of her knuckles, balancing a cardboard carrier with two coffee tucked inside in one hand, she peeks through the crack to see if Lois is even inside. "Lois? You busy?"
Lois Lane has posed:
For her part Lois Lane has not returned to Earth recently, but she /has/ returned to the Daily Planet. She took a week off at management's insistence, something about their insurance not covering 23 hour days for a month at a time, and the accountants wailing in torment at her overtime slips.

So what better way to relax than finagling a flight to the Antarctic, a dog sled, and then a journey across terrain that has killed hardened colonial explorers to check in on Clark, and find out he has a... new cousin? Extra cousin? Clones. Weird.

But Lois is back now, her office door mostly closed, just a crack for airflow, and the sound of an honest to god typewriter clacking away with the rhythm and pace of a beach fortification's machine gun on D-Day.

That gentle rap pauses the rapidfire clacking for a moment, "C'mon in! I'm fine. It's fine. Busy? This isn't busy!" And the firestorm begins once more.

Lois's purple blazer is draped back over her chair, her blouse unbuttoned to her collar bone, a pen poking out of the corner of her mouth like a n ersatz cigar as she looks up, eyebrows perking as she spots Kara... her gaze darts down to take in her full appearance, the snaps back up.

"Kara! You're... here! Back! Earth!! Did you know there's another you?" She just sort of tosses is out there, fingers still flying, only for her right hand to fly up, pull out the finished piece of paper, feed in a new one, and then resume typing, pace slowed as her right hand doesn't return to typing but plucks her pen from her lips. "I mean, she doesn't... look entirely like you. Maybe there's a genetic explanation. But..." She trails off, the typing stops, and she points with left hand now, "Is that coffee? Did you bring me coffee?"
Supergirl has posed:
Something about the rapidity of those clanks is soothing in a way that Kara can't really explains. While she's never worked at the Planet, she does (or did) work for another news outlet. One geared towards Entertainment rather than real news, but it still counts? It counts right?

With the invitation to enter given, she slides in using her shoulders to push the door open and turns to see Lois fast at work. A grin plays across the blonde's face, eyes twinkling behind the red framed glasses she wears high on the bridge of her nose. "Hey Lois." When the reporter finally looks up, gives her a once over, and jumps right back into the business.

It's funny. Kara snorts a single laugh and unsheathes one of the coffees to set down across the table, beside the type-writer. "I think I got the order right. You know the guys down at the Kiosks are terrified of you? I said 'whatever Lois Lane usually orders' and they got this frightened, deer in a headlights, looks."

She removes her own coffee and sets the container down. She'll find a recycling ben for that on the way out. "mm.. yes, yes I knew." About Karen. She also nods, albeit slowly, at her not being an exact copy. Her brows bounce upwards in a yeeeaah motion, smile pulled tight. "I think we know Lex is into... very tall women." With that out of the way.
Lois Lane has posed:
That typing stops, paper examined for a moment, and then Lois sinks back in her chair, hunched shoulders that were tensed like the words were surging out of her like her own lifeforce ease... and she reaches out almost languidly for her coffee. She rolls her eyes and sighs out, "Of /course/ the're afraid of me." She sips slowly, her eyebrows perking slightly, lips quirking in a satisfied little smile.

"Maybe because I'm here all the time. I mean, the baristas at the little independent coffee shop near my apartment aren't afraid of me. Of course they have a lot more piercings and ink than your typical kiosk coffee vendor."

She shrugs helplessly and perks her eyebrows up and sighs out, gesturing to the teetering pile of paper on her desk. "Sadly, this isn't a groundbreaking expose on Kryptonian cloning, it's... yeah. A sensitive subject. I'm still considering that. This is just some typical private military company atrocity stuff."

Lois reclines in her chair, hand not gratefully holding her coffee sliding down to flick the release and let her pivot it back to recline, lifting her legs up in a little bit of contortion to clear her desk and then rest crossed ankles atop it.

She nods and grins lopsidedly, "So, aside from that... how are tricks? Was space... fun? I mean, I'm assuming you didn't fly off to battle some intergalactic despot or something."
Supergirl has posed:
Lois has always been intrigued to Kara, if for no other reason than how effortlessly she can down dress even the hardest of individuals with nothing but a stare. The blonde's smile sits lopsided on her face after a sip from her own cup, but she does move to take a seat somewhere after pushing the door closed, given the sensative nature of the conversation being had within. "Just a little light reading." typical private military atrocities stuff. She laughs quietly and shakes her head, another expression of impressed amusement on her face.

She shouldn't be surprised, though.

When Lois reclines, Kara reaches up to adjust her glasses with one finger pushing them up her nose and sips a bit more from her cup. Her skirt is smoothed out and her ankles sit crossed beneath the chair, but she's relaxing as much as possible. Leaning back into the chair with a drawn out sigh, "No, nothing like that." Her hair is pinned back out of her face, with a few longer strands tucked behind her ears. "I got word there were some refugees from Krypton in one of the colony worlds. I flew out to check on the reumors."

Her expression probably says more about the failure than she, herself, needs to. Though she does voice it, "There weren't any. Only signs of fighting and ruins." There's few things that can break Kara's optimism, but there's shadows crossing her eyes with the crease of her brow. "I saw Clark!" Sudden, anything to change the subject... Even if Lois probably doesn't take the bait. "He thinks you tell him he slouches too much."
Lois Lane has posed:
Lois is pretty used to the Super folks in general not being able to /really/ relax. She figures it's got to do with the whole being able to hear all the troubles of the world all the time thing. She really only has to deal with them for work, and there are days they hit her hard. And so Lois does her best not to add to that burden... but whoops, maybe she should have asked something a little lighter.

She sighs softly and nods her head, her lips pressing in a thin line, those normally intent, hard eyes softening. She practically looks like she's going to give the blonde a hug... but then Clark saves the day as it were.

And earns a derisive little snort from Lois as she sips her coffee, eyes rolling dramatically, "I'm right. I mean, he looks like such a sad sack all the time when he's all... Clark. I get needing a disguise, but he looks like an overgrown sad puppy so often." She points a finger and grins, "I mean, you don't slouch when you're just... you know, living life and all. He just needs some lessons from his cousin in how to blend in /without/ promoting bad posture."
Supergirl has posed:
Of all the Kryptonians, Kara is the only one old enough to remember Krypton. Maybe because of this, or in spite of it, she's always smiling. Sometimes it's forced, but she clearly lives by the motto 'fake it til you make it', as she's doing now. She can see Lois' empathy and smiles reassuringly, her head shaking once, "It's okay." And it is, sort of. Because it has to be.

Her coffee comes up for another sip, then sets down on Lois' desk. So her hands can cross in her lap, thumb-index joints sliding together like she's summoning naruto powers or some such. A place to put her hands, keep them from writhing around when the nervous energy surges. She could destroy a sweater if she pulled on a loose thread... gotta save the clothes, ya know?

"That's what /I/ said." She expresses with a laugh, instantly better. Teasing Clark always has that effect, it's not fair to him really. "He seemed a little more reserved than usual, though. And Power Girl said things were ... weird? She didn't get into it, but I figured you probably could give more details than anyone."

She reaches up to adjust her glasses and returns her hands to her lap, "Is everything okay with everyone? Are they not telling me something?"
Lois Lane has posed:
Lois's lips quirk in a playful little grin as she bobs her head. "Of course." She rolls her eyes and sighs out dramatically. "But he just insists on his whole awww shucks farmboy thing. I mean, maybe there's something to it. Miles of flat wheat fields and horses must have some kind of benefit if he's always so happy to go back home." She perks her eyebrows up, "I... actually haven't talked to Clark in a bit. I mean, since before I met Power Girl. I was actually trying to visit him at... uhhh... his /vacation home/? But..." She shrugs, "Instead I met a surprising blonde." She quirks an eyebrow and snickers, "I mean, I guess 'There's another Kryptonian suddenly' is... uh... well, if that doesn't count as weird to us? I think we might be getting a little jaded."

She shrugs and frowns thoughtfully, eyes narrowing, steeling a little, "I mean, it's probably... that. The whole clone thing. If... there's one... and she's doing her own thing now... well, what's to make them not want /another/ to replace her?"
Supergirl has posed:
All the clone talk. Kara nods slowly, "Yeah, I knew about her. We met just before I left a few months ago, came to terms with her being... me.. but not me." Sure, most people would be horrified by all of this, but when the lives of your alter ego are regarded as a hero of few equals, there also comes an understanding that weird will forever be your life. That or Kara really is just the most understanding and grounded person on Earth. Because this barely even phases her. "She couldn't help being made, or what they made her do, but she's trying her best to make up for that. And I'll do my best to make her feel like she's part of the family." Her grin curls, cheeks dempling, "She said you've been a great help in understanding 'human stuff'. So thank you to you too.."

It does beg the question that if there's one, how many more might there be, though.

Which Lois voices for both of them. Kara sucking in a long breath to release an equally long sigh. "Given who has created most of them?" Lex. "Probably an army." She flicks her hand at that, trying to smile, and using a sip of coffee to accomplish it.

"She'll be living with me in Metropolis. Can't imagine whoever made her gave her a full set of identification, so it's probably hard finding housing... a job even.. jeez. So many ethical questions I bet they didn't even begin to ask."
Lois Lane has posed:
Lois hums softly, "Oh! Does she need a fake ID? I've got a guy. Okay. A couple guy... okay, we've got /options/ is all." She takes a long sip of her coffee, like it's the most casual thing as she sighs out, "Well, if I see any six foot tall blonde baristas at whatever coffee chain Lex is running for PR purposes, I'll text you."

She perks her eyebrows and hums, "Oh! Are you going to just let her crash at your place? Get a new place? I mean, a new place is a pretty good reason for like... an apartment warming party. Movies and pizza. Someone's got to show her how to spend a night in. And I haven't shown her /that/ much 'human stuff'. But she's an attentive student."
Supergirl has posed:
Of course Lois has a guy for fake IDs. Kara laughs, a genuinely jovial sound, and nods. "Actually, yes, I think that would come in very handy... Why am I not surprised though?" All very good natured, of course. With a twinkle in her rolling blue eyes. "Given some of her physical alterations? I've kind of started wondering if Lex maybe has a little crush on me." For what it's worth. She's not very good at teasing.

She does nod, "Kind of. I'm between jobs right now.. disappeared for a few months. Rushing off to space is all well and good, but it's pretty hard to explain that to an employer." She'll find something though. "Until then, she can have a room at the Danvers house. Lord knows there are plenty of them... but if you wanted to plan a little girls night, I'm sure she'd enjoy it. I /know/ I would. You don't realize how much you love popcorn until there's not any for five thousand light years."
Lois Lane has posed:
Lois's eyebrows perk innocently, "What? I did a story on human trafficking and fake IDs once, and I needed a source to walk me through it. And he does work for vulnerable people in bad situations so I... left him out of the reporting is all." She whistles nonchalantly, "And sometimes maybe I need a new Id to go undercover snooping a story and he helps out is all. Benefit of being a print reporter, is no one really ever recognizes you unless you do a namedrop."

She snorts and nearly /chokes/ at the theory on Lex's crush, "I don't think Lex is capable of seeing anyone else as /people/ enough to have a crush on them. Even if he might think he does." She hums softly and perks her eyebrows up, "Careful or you'll wind up with two freeloaders. I'm honestly getting tired of living in a part of town called Suicide Slums. And the hot water is just... so unreliable lately."

She grins and nods her head quickly, "But oh yes. Popcorn and movies and we'll teach her as much as we can about... human things! Well, also Kryptonian things I suppose, since you can cover both."
Supergirl has posed:
"Oh, I have no doubt your contacts are completely on the up and up, Ms. Lane." Kara is practicing that teasing thing with a playful smirk around another sip of coffee. She sets it back down and laughs quietly, "It would help a lot, I think. Unless she's already taken care of it, I didn't really ask her how far she'd come over the last few months.. but when I left she was still getting comfortable in her skin, nevermind trying to establish some sort of identity?" She shakes her head again.

Then breaks into a deep laugh, "Well, there's plenty of room. You're more than welcome to freeload as much as you need to." The smile is one that twinkles all the way into her deep blue eyes. "I'm so use to having my sister there, I actually feel better about having this big house if there's other people around. So, seriously.. if you need a place, I could use a roommate." Not to mention she's broke and property taxes are cracked in Metropolis.

A few nods as well, "It'll be good for all of us. I might be out of touch on human stuff, myself." Kryptonian stuff is so much easier, honestly. Humans are complicated in ways they likely don't even realize. Lex Luthor is a perfect example.
