Meeting the New Mutant

Location:	Main Foyer - Xavier's School
Synopsis:	Jean meets Angelica and takes her on as a physics TA.

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey is back at the school, handling some administrative work now that events in the mountains have finally wound down. It's quite a shift from action to administrative duties but it's all part of the job description. Whatever the case, she tries to focus on the matter at hand.\<br\>\<br\>It seems a new mutant has come to stay at Xavier's, and she pulls up Firestar's file, looking it over as she waits to meet her in her office. "Angelica Jones? Hmm, wasn't she one of Emma's students?" she ponders aloud as she waits for her to arrive.

Firestar has posed:\<br\> Arrive she does. Angelica comes to the door and knocks. As it is her time she cracks the door a little bit and asks,"Are you ready for me or should I wait?" Waiting there, no real rush. She seems concerned about being late as she is an easy 20 minutes early.

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey glances up from her desk and smiles, "Yes, I'm ready for you Angelica. Please come in." the door she will find, is unlocked and Jean is sitting at the desk, patiently waiting for her. "Hello Angelica. I am glad you could make it. My name is Jean Grey, deputy headmistress of the school. How are you today?"

Firestar has posed:\<br\> She walks into the room, closing the door behind her. She walks into the room more to talk easier. She nods a little,"I appreciate you taking your time. I won't use too much of it." she offers,"I figured if I am going to be in the area again I should let the X-Men and a few others know. NYU isn't far from here after all."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey nods, steepling her fingers as she regards the young woman before her with a thoughtful smile. "That is quite alright. How can I help you, Angelica? You look old enough for college, and I see here you have so,e connections with Emma Frost. Is that correct?"

Firestar has posed:\<br\> "NYU is the plan. Physics major." she replies,"I just wanted to come and see what I might have missed out on." She sighs softly and admits,"Sometimes I wish Professor Xavier had arrived at my home first." She grimaces a little and nods,"Yes. There is a history with Ms. Frost and the Hellfire Club. They talked to my father before Professor Xavier had a chance and well." She sighs softly,"He wasn't really keen on the whole mutant thing and was more or less willing to send me off."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey frowns softly at that, a look of concern in her jade eyes. "Oh, I see..I thought you and Emma were on decent terms, her being your head mistress.." she tilts her head, "I am sorry that you were not given the choice yourself. However, as you probably know, Emma ha# since transferred and all her students have come here since then. Are you wishing to become an Xman?"

Firestar has posed:\<br\> She doesn't dwell on the potential issues with Emma Frost, rather she just replies,"We haven't been in contact for a long while. You might ask her where she stands. I can work with someone if things dictate it, but trust can be difficult for anything more than a team situation." She pauses at the last of Jean's statment and her mouth drops a little,"I uh..." she replies so eloquently. It takes her a second to process what Jean asked and finally she manages,"I mean. I came here to let you know I was in the area if you needed me for something, but I never really thought you would invite me to the X-Men." \<br\>\<br\> She is thoughtful for another space of time,"If you are offering I couldn't possibly decline. Are you sure all of your team would be comfotable working with me considering the kind of energy that literally radiates from me? I mean the suit is supposed to protect others, but I always want someone to know the potential issues."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey chuckles a bit shaking her head, "Not specifically offering so much as asking you what your future goals might be. We are a little stretched thin lately of course, but it would be up to Scott if you were considering joining the Xmen." she nods, "As for help around the school..Well we are really short on medics at the moment, no healer, no doctor, just our nurse Agatha.."

Firestar has posed:\<br\> Despite the potential excitement, part of her seems a little relieved for the not having to make a decision on that right away,"OK. I wasn't saying no, I just wasn't sure. Alpha Flight and the New Warriors know what they are up against with me. I would juset want everyone to know what comes alkong with dealing with me." she adds. \<br\>\<br\> She shakes her head and admits,"I don't know much about first aid really. Most of my medical experience is pretty focused on radiation. I don't think I would be good for much other than handing people things they need and even then I would have to learn what everything is."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey arches a curious brow at that. "Ah, Alpha Flight, that's the Canadian superhero branch yes? I believe Wolverine was involved with then at one point yes?" Ah she must know Wolverine then. "So..What exactly..Would we be up against with you as you say..?" she tilts her head, curious, not that familiar with Alpha Flight members.\<br\>\<br\>As for not knowing much first aid, Jean just sighs and nods, "I see, that's too bad..Do you know much about alien life forms?" well, that came out of seemingly nowhere.

Firestar has posed:\<br\> She hesitates for a moment, then reaches up to pull her shirt down and to the left a little revealing a body suit under her clothes,"This suit is supposed to protect others from the radiation that my body produces. My fire comes from that source. Anything that senses radiation immediately senses me. When first I met Spidey my presence alone could set off his warning system." \<br\>\<br\> She lets the outer shirt free and it pops back into place. She smiles a little and shrugs,"Mac and the rest of the Alpha Flight always tell me that I haven't been a negative effect physically, but it still bothers me." She does catch back up to what Jean said before,"Wolverine was a member of Alpha Flight before coming to the X-Men. Alpha Flight is almost like X-Men north, but not exactly."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey frowns as she peers at the suit. "Oh I see, interesting. Well, I'm glad you have a suit to contain your power, must work a bit like Havok's suit I suppose." she smiles, "So who made that suit for you? Looks pretty high tech. I am sure it will not be a problem here, we have many mutants with a variety of abilities and issues that come with those abilities Afterall.."

Firestar has posed:\<br\> "I still get some radiation backblow here and there, but so far I am OK." she admits,"The suit doesn't really protect me so much. That said I am glad I can sit here and talk with you without being obsessed with making everyone sick, just mildly a nagging feeling." she sighs and forces a trace of a smile. \<br\>\<br\> "Mac Hudson built the suit. High tech is something that he does thankfully. Wolverine knows him as we said earlier." she explains,"He helped design and make it a reality. I can never be thankful enough for him doing that. At least I can almost feel like I have a normal life." She does smile at the idea of the others having issues,"Teenage angst, times one thousand."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey nods, "More to protect us from you then, makes sense..You must be pretty powerful then, Angelica. Do you still work for Aloha Flight? You must be a long way from home.." she smiles, "I have only heard of Aloha Flight and met them only very briefly. It would be good to catch up with all of them again..So are you just here for a brief visit then?"

Firestar has posed:\<br\> "I keep trying to convince myself I am not, but I feel like I am powerful in ways that are not good for anyone including myself." she concedes,"I am not what they call Omega Level, but I can mess up the world around me effectively. If I am out in space where there aren't people and a world around me that I can destroy it's...not pretty, well it is kind of pretty, but you get the idea." She really does seem overly concerned with her power like it haunts her to a point. \<br\>\<br\> "Technically I am still with the New Warriors, probably like your own New Mutants. Still mostly the C team, but I have worked with Alpha Flight proper a few times. As for far from home, I was born and grewe up in New York for a lot of my life. My dad couldn't cope with what I am, so Mac and Heather came here and gave me a new home."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey frowns a bit at that, "I am sorry to hear that but I am sure the New Warriors can give you the training you need to perhaps one day control your powers better. And you are always welcome to stay here while you are in town." she smiles, "Is there anything else we can help you with while you're in town?"

Firestar has posed:\<br\> "Family. Who can explain it. The Warriors have helped me a lot. I am way more controlled than I was. I would be glad to help if you needed it in the field whether Scott would be interested in me joining the team or not." she finally admits. She does smile again, a real smile,"I would appreciate a place to stay until I can maybe find a more permanent. It is a four year degree program. I could help students with Physics, radiation theory, and I have a little self defense training."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey smiles and nods, "Of course, we might have some space around here for a graduate to stay, especially if you are willing to teach..Hmm, we already have a part time physics teacher but perhaps you;could help him as a teaching assistant? He is of course only here occasionally so we could always just hire you as a part time physics teacher to fill in the gaps as well. Radiation theory would be helpful too of course. Have you taught before?'

Firestar has posed:\<br\> "I have never taught a class per say." she admits,"I have tutored several people in both subjects. It can be difficult. I would be glad to help the professor as well. I know the subject well, but as far as teaching stratiegies I don't really have many. The Warriors wanted to pass the class so they tended to shut up and listen." She winks at the last bit,"I love them all, but they were a mixed bag for sure."

Phoenix has posed:\<br\>Jean Grey smiles, "Well that's perfect, I will introduce you to Bruce and he can help you learn to teach if that's something that would interest you. I'll give him a call tomorrow. Do you have any other questions for me?"

Firestar has posed:\<br\> She shakes her head and stands up,"I will let you get back to work." she replies,"I appreciate a bed to sleep in and a chance to help students. I wouldn't want to be a free loader or anything. I like to pull my own weight."
