Angelica "Angel" Jones has had a rather interesting young life, even as a mutant. She spent a semester as a student at the Hellfire Club's Metropolis Academy, the "Academy of Tomorrow" before returning home to Riverdale High School. She is also a member of Department H's Gamma Flight. She's overcome numerous obstacles, such as a near sterilisation that was only averted by a new suit to help her immunity to her power. Considering her power over radiation, her knowledge is rather substantial. She hopes to one day become a Professor of Physics.

Description:

Wavy, bright red hair crowns this young lady's head, framing her face and cascading down to the middle of her back. Sparkling, emerald green eyes look out from behind the red domino inspired mask, stylized to flames. The mask rests just above her high cheek bones. Her light, athletic frame is 5'1" (155cm) and a voluptuous 125 pounds (57kg), curves in all the proverbial "right places".

Her form is wrapped in a yellow body suit that accents her frame. The color of the suit blends through yellow to orange and finally into a bright red at her gloved hands and the boots on her feet. Each glove and boot has a stylized flame at their base finishing out the fire theme of the outfit.

History

History:

For most of her life, Angelica Jones has had a troubled life. The mutant scare came about, and it turned out she was one of them. She was dealing with the horrors of things being set on fire randomly, or just melting around her when her grandmother died. Then her father couldn't cope with it at all, so he sent her away to the Hellfire Club's "Academy of Tomorrow", just minutes before Charles Xavier and his entourage could arrive. She learned how to control her powers there, but eventually rebelled against Emma Frost and her Metropolis Academy by melting the training centre.

Once word of that got out, Mac Hudson managed to help her out with a suit that could siphon off her radiation powers. Now, as part of the Alpha Flight, Angelica spends her time handling her duties in the "New Warriors", the nickname for Alpha Flight's third tier group, Gamma Flight, and preparing for college after recently graduating. Angelica has already lived a more eventful life than most people twice her age.

Personality:

Angelica, or Angel to her close friends, tends to be rather warm and caring when it comes to her friends. She is fully aware of what her powers can do, so she tries to be mindful of how much time she exposes her friends to the potential damage that is her power. She's the very picture of reliability despite trying to keep people's exposure to her limited. She's there if she is needed, but will give space if it needed. Whatever the case, Angelica is always willing to listen or lend a shoulder to cry on as needed.

Hurting her friends makes her very angry, but she tries not to kill unless she has no other choice. She's also very careful about the destruction her radiation causes to the planet, so she tries to keep it under control constantly. She's not so limited in space though.....

Abilities

Flight:
Firestar uses the microwaves she generates to fly. She can propel herself through the air or through the vacuum of space. Her flight top speed is unknown, but she is fast and highly maneuverable. While she doesn't do it often, she can carry another person with her as she flies.

Immunity:
Angelica is immune to the heat and energy of her power. She is not immune to the radiation. Since radiation is a natural product of her mutation, she needs to be protected from that. Mac Hudson, alias Guardian, created a suit for her to have immunity to microwave radiation, not just her own, as long as she is wearing the suit.

Microwave Energy Manip:
By focusing her mind on her power, Firestar is able to manipulate or push the energy surrounding her towards her desire target. She can cause bursts of flame, explosions, or change the state of the matter from solid to liquid or liquid to gas. The nature of her power is such that she can lay waste to a target on a large scale.

She keeps her power in check out of fear for the damage that she would be doing to the planet and all the forces of nature involved with it. In space, she is able to bring her powers to their full strength without the fear, able to acess more levels of ambient electromagnetic energy.

Psionic Disruption:

When Firestar uses her microwaves at a high concentration, she is able to disrupt psionics nearby. The psychic powers don't effect her, esentially short circuiting at the source before it can reach her.

Cooking:
While not a master chef by any means, Angelica enjoys to cook things. She learned from her grandmother growing up since she didn't have her mother.

Physics Knowledge:
Angelica has a desire to teach Physics in the future. Physics comes into play with radiation and how it is measured and used, so she came into that understanding and study by default and just took her studies forward from there.

Radiation Knowledge:
Due to the fact she has the ability to manipulate radiation, Angelica has become a dedicated student of the subject. She has managed to rival most college students with her knowledge and understanding of the subject. Her studies and her powers alike have helped her to identify radiation types and generally discern where a radiation's source is.

Self Defense:

While she is far from a master martial artist or ground technician, Angelica has taken time with Alpha Flight to learn to protect herself without her powers. It is mostly situational techiniques. There isn't extensive one-on-one up close training as she doesn't want to spend a great deal of time in contact with people for fear of them getting sick from the radiation that surrounds her.

Alpha Flight:
Angelica is a member of Canada's Alpha Flight, more notably, the force officially called Gamma Flight. Unofficially, it is known as the "New Warriors", or just the Warriors for short. This is the entry level for Alpha Flight, where the raw recruits can train up before graduating first to Beta Flight, and then, finally, to the big show, Alpha Flight. Of course, she will on occasion get to join a higher tier as a trainee.

Costume:

Firestar's costume adds immunity to microwave raditation, whether it exists in the environment or of her own generation. It can augment her powers as well, siphoning off her own natural radiation.

Secret Identity:
Angelica's life as Firestar is something she keeps separate as best she can. If people were to learn she was Firestar, enemies might come after her friends, and her school.

Strained Relationship:

She has a very strained relationship with her father Bartholomew "Bart" Jones, who couldn't handle her being a mutant, and took the first opportunity to send her away to the Metropolis Academy in Connecticut. She doesn't talk to him much, nor does she confide anything in him. The best she can say about him, currently, is that he was the man who gave her life. At least he did take her back after the "incident" during her one and only semester at the Academy of Tomorrow.
