Synopsis: Felicia and Miles.
Cast of Characters: Kid Arachnid, Black Cat

Kid Arachnid has posed:
While the days in New York City might still be pleasant, the nights are slowly starting to cool off, enough at least to be noticable.

Not that it seems to bother Kid Arachnid any. Really, after the last couple of months it is rather nice to have a chance to enjoy the cooler weather while out on patrol. The costume is a little more pleasant to wear as well, though he will surely be missing the heat when winter rolls around proper-like.

Maybe he needs to get himself a properly contained, full environmentally sound suit. Something with air and heat to keep him comfortable during the more extreme weather parts of the year.

While Miles might still have a paper to work on, to complete, back at his room, he is out on patrol anyway. Taking a break as he puts it. Though some might mistake it for slacking off.

But as he swings by a nearby alley, he spots a handful of masked men trying -- but not succeeding -- in looking inconspicuous by the rear door to the shop there. So with a little woot and an agile aerial turn, Kid Arachnid flies through the air in their direction.
Black Cat has posed:
There is something pretty thrilling about taking to a cool autumn evening, racing across the rooftops of the city to start scoping out her next big score.

While not all her close associates approve of just how she chooses to live her life, the thrill and the challenge bring Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat, back again and again, to pit her skills against whatever target she has happened to chose this time.

And this time she has chosen the penthouse across the street, eyeing it from her present vantage point, a little notepad in her hands as she scribles down some random notes and observations, some considerations on just how she will go about this particular theft. It doesn't look like it should be all that hard.

Of course she is aware of the men in the alley beside her chosen perch. She's just ignoring them, for the moment. They're not interfering with her, and while she might ultimately decide to thwart them -- she's capricious -- she hasn't yet.

Still, as she hears that little woot from below, she peeks over the edge of the building and spots a shadowed figure swooping in with the sort of grace that can only be ascribed to a spider.

And a little impish grin slides over the Black Cat's face.
Kid Arachnid has posed:
He doesn't get to do this enough.

The simple fact of the matter is that juggling all his competing interests means that Miles does not necessarily spend as much time in costume as he might like. There are still a lot of things he could learn about being a proper vigilante and while his fellow Spiders are great, he still feels a little... puppyish around them. A little eager to impress and please. Like he's not quite ready to play in their league.

Which is why nights like this are important to the young man. A chance to get out there, on his own and prove himself. To throw him into the middle of things without the safety net of Peter or Gwen or anyone really, and just handle things on his own.

So while he might be outnumbered, Kid Arachnid never even hesitates as he bounds into action, dropping down towards the group.

"Call me crazy, but a bunch of masked men lingering around a backdoor like this can't be up to anything good," Miles says, arms raised as he falls towards the group of men below.
Black Cat has posed:
While Felicia might not dedicate her life and existence to this kind of thing, she's not opposed to intervening and putting a stop to a crime or two.

For the most part she prefers to intevene when the crime is violent, when someone might be hurt. When it feels like it might make a difference. She has little use for predators afterall. But stopping thieves? That feels a little more hypocritical.

Afterall, she is one.

fStill, she is usually willing to make an exception when there is a Spider involved. Everyone is entitled to a weakness or two. Or five. Or ten.

Look, Felicia never claimed to be perfectly consistent.

Down there in the darkened alley, she does not immediately make out just who is looking for a spot of trouble. But then she doesn't really need to. There's only a small number of people that move like that. So she hooks her grappling hook in place and leaps from the rooftop of the building, an exultant grin on her face as she does so, as she drops towards the brewing fight in the alley way without any trace of fear on her expression.

This will be fun.
Kid Arachnid has posed:
For his part, Miles does not immediately realize that Felicia is dropping down from even above him, very much intent on the foes in front of him.

In fairness, while he is confident, he is outnumbered afterall. And there certainly are not very many people who can get the jump on him from above. Again, certainly inexperience might come into play just a bit as well.

It has the potential to be a lesson well learned and any day where one learns something is not a complete waste, right?

So Kid Arachnid lands amongst the half-dozen men in a crouch, sweeping his gaze over them. "You guys made such poor life choices to end up here tonight," he says with a slow shake of his head. No doubt, beneath that mask he has quite the grin on his face right at the moment.

Either way, one of his arms snaps up and a burst of webbing suddenly leaps forth, hitting the closest of the men with enough force to knock him back, to pin him to that wall in lairs of sticking webbing.

"One down! The rest of you to go!"
Black Cat has posed:
There might not be an inhuman spider powers within, but Felicia has all the grace and agility she needs all on her own.

A clever little twist with the jumpline slows her fall at exactly the right moment, allowing her to drop next to the shadow-shrouded hero at her side, a grin curving over her lips as he doesn't seem to notice her until right that moment. Yes, it might be a little bit petty, but Felicia takes a good deal of satisfaction from that.

"You're getting a little careless there Spider," the Black Cat practically purrs, shooting a look towards Miles and arching a brow. Not /her/ Spider then. "I stand corrected." she allows rightly.

The relationship between her and the other Spiders might be complicated at times, but she recognizes Kid Arachnid, knows he is one of the more recent members to the association with Spidey. "Hope you don't mind a hand. I've come all this way now," she says with a bright smile before she whirls, still in a crouch as she sweeps the leg of one of her attackers out from beneath them, sending them toppling to the pavement.
