Cast of Characters: Polaris, Firestar, Quake

Polaris has posed:
Early evening on a Friday night is usually a time to relax, chill out, maybe grab a drink or two. Tonight however, something else has river in Mutant town. Something *bad*.

The people of Mutant Town are no ordinary people, but mutants - gifted with unusual abilities. Unfortunately the majority of mutants possess minor mutations, more a hindrance than a help in many cases.

Which means, the majority of mutants are fleeing for their lives and screaming for help as the van sized blue dragon swoops in from a rooftop, unleashing a blast of arctic winds and ice from its razor sharp lined mouth, sending mutants scattering.

Now where did that come from..?
Firestar has posed:
It isn't often that Angelica makes her way to Mutant Town of late. School and some heroic like things have kept ther busy. The fact the last few times she was here she encountered the Juggernaut might have cast a shadow on the place.

Walking down the street she notices the people all running from something. A frown creases her brow and she moves against the fleeing crowd to get a look at...a dragon? Really?

Shaking her head she steps back away from the crowd into an alley way. She gives the area a quick once over, making sure there isn't any obvious witnesses. She sighs softly and admits,"I need an image inducer. It would save a fortune on clothes."

A shimmer of yellow energy fills the alleyway and when it fades, Firestar stands in Angelica's place,"I didn't need that shirt and the pants and shoes were old." She mutters to herself before soaring up and out of the alley way to locate the dragon again.
Polaris has posed:
People continue to scream and flee climbing over each other to get away fro: the dragon. It was a clear, mild night up until the 'small' van sized dragon appeared out of nowhere, seemingly out of place in this world. But that didn't stop it from wrecking havok, turning everything it breathes upon to ice and snow. It's now cold and snowy, way too cold for this time of year.

And, what's that up in the sky? Some sort of strange shimmery ribbons of light, akin to a small aurora borealis.

But as Firestar takes to the skies, she quickly catches the dragon's attention as it narrows its beady yellow eyes on her, breathing in deeply, and ejecting a plume of snowy ice towards her.
Firestar has posed:
Once she locates the dragon, Angelica settles into a defensive flight pattern. She doesn't close yet, better able to maneuver away from the breath weapon.

When the dragon notices her, Angelica notices the ribbon and frowns. Hearing the plume of ice escape the monster she turns the heat up around her and flies towards the projectile, floating off to the side to skirt the edge of the blast and not get a full hit, hoping to dispel some of the cold before it strikes anyone else.
Quake has posed:
Skye was supposed to be anywhere but in her Brownstone. According to her. Well, according to the looks she was getting from Natasha. Next she would be getting a stern warning, and knowing her, Nat know enough about Skye house that she probably could cause enough problems to ruin at least a good half-nights online time.

It was just better to go out, and say that she did. Even if it were only to pick up takeaway for dinner.

Walking to her VW van with the aforementioned take out, it wasn't going to be quite so simple.

"What the Fuck?" She looked up.. and up.. and up at the surprisingly real(?) dragon.
Polaris has posed:
Firestar may prove to be more agile than the bulky dragon, and she easily maneuvers out of the way of its plume of ice and snow. Angered, it spins around, whipping it's huge tail out at her, trying to swat her out of the sky.

Meanwhile down below, a frozen tree starts to teeter and creak, slowly tilting over as if it might just come crashing down on some terrified kids frozen in horror. Some crowd control would be good..
Firestar has posed:
Always a catch. As Firestar moves past the ice she angles too high and catches a glancing blow from the tail that spins her out of control and away from the fight for a moment, bouncing off a roof top or two before coming to a stop on another. At least she didn't fully fall to the ground.

She lays still for a few moments. She knows full well she has to get up, but for a few seconds takes stock of her mental and physical situation. She starts to rise from the roof and tenderly stands up,"If those ribs aren't at least cracked I'm going to be amazed." she grumbles and winces at the same time. The aura of her power surrounds her again and she rises into the sky. Earlier she was just feeling things out, the grim look on her face says she's ready to do more this time.
Quake has posed:
*c-r-e-a-k-k-k*

Jeeze. So much for takeout. Giving the bag to the nearest person, Skye tells the person, "Enjoy." As she runs to the imminent tree crashing.

With her hands held out, face towards the tree, she stops any further danger of it smashing into anyone, while she tells the children to leave, and gets an older kid to hurry the kids away from the broken tree so that Skye can let it down slowly without any danger.
Polaris has posed:
The kids stare up at Skye for a moment, before uttering a thanks and then they flee, before the tree can flatten them. But there are others, a collapsing wall starting to rain chunks of ice down on more confused people, one particularly big chunk of ice has trapped one person, who screams for help.

Meanwhile, the dragon rumbles, ignoring Firestar for the moment as it lands on the ground with a loud rumble of earth and peers around with mad eyes. It looks hungry, confused..And eyeing all the tasty confusing throng of fleeing mutants. With a low rumble it stalks down the street, searching for an easy target.
Firestar has posed:
Firestar shoot a maser up into the cloud. The energy sizzles out encountering the cold. She shakes her head and starts flying towards the throng of people and the dragon,"I don't know where you cam from friend..." she grumbles through gritted teeth.

Both of her hands infront of her as she flies and both erupt with the nuclear radiation beams that make her almost more dangerous than the dragon if she isn't careful.

Pointing with her hands makes it easier to hit where she aims and she lets the beams start about the middle of its back and searing the flesh up towards its head to try to get its attention away from the people and on her.
Quake has posed:
The screams can't be missed.

The problem is.. Without a good vibration Skye can't do anything at all. And the vibrate the good would be a problem with the shards of ice.. Unless..

First things first. In order to vibrate the ground enough to get a grip on the ice shard that has the man trapped, she has to..

And than the simpler idea came: Shatter the large ice block. She hadn't anything like that since she was granted her powers. And frankly the first time was on a mountain causing an avalanche to begin to understand her power. Two littles nudges could make an avalanche. Two concentrated pulses could tear the ice shard into little pebbles.

She had grown ever so much since she had become Quake.

And while she had the idea, she will also destroy the remaining shards all around to take them out of the equation.
Polaris has posed:
The dragon may be mighty but it has one major weakness: Fire. It roars in pain and anger as the heat hits its scales, and while they are pretty tough and near impenetrable, the heat does manage to sear a few of them - not enough to kill it but certainly to cause it pain. But how much will it take to put this beast down?

It does not hesitate, rushing towards her, all claws and teeth, lightning quick, much quicker than one might expect for such a huge beast, and should she dodge it's deadly massive talons, it spins around, whipping its tail at her once more.

Meanwhile, Skye's vibrations manage to shatter more than the block of ice trapping the grateful woman who utters her thanks before fleeing. There are other deadly sized chunks of ice coming down but thankfully many of those are shattered into smaller harmless pieces too...

But what's that in the sky? Looks like the ethereal violet and green ribbons of light are growing bigger..Is that some sort of portal?
Firestar has posed:
Dancing with the dragon. Such a good idea said nobody ever. Firestar goes up and away. No talons thanks and this time she expects the tail, so she passes under it and sends a burst of her maser at the stomach this time, seeing if there is a weakness there.

She rolls up and away from the dragon, again trying to lead it away. She settles into a straight line flight away, looking down and back towards the beast thoughtfully.
Quake has posed:
"Hey!" Skye nodded to Firestar. "You don't think that's where he belongs? Do you?" Because, if not, there is the possibility that worse could be coming through the portal.

(When did I speak about portals as though they were normal, wondered Skye.)
Polaris has posed:
Like a cat chasing a mouse, the dragon wheels around and dodges the heat this time, countering with a plume of freezing blinding snow and razor hard chunks of ice. It utters a roar and continues to give chase, more interested in the firebrand than in the fleeing mutants below - for now.

And suddenly there is a flurry of green as Polaris lands next to Skye. "You are correct, you must lead him back through that portal, created from the chaos of Spiral's magic. I think I can repair the ley lines once it's through but I'll need your help."
Firestar has posed:
Surpised by the miss, Firestar climbs upward into the sky. WHen the creature draws in and lets the plume of freezing out, Firestar pushes most of her power out around her to protect herself from the ice.

A single, concentrated beam of a maser shoots right at the mouth and throat of the dragon.

She heard Skye and only after shooting the white hot beam at the dragon's mouth and throat, she flies towards the shimmering gateway. If it gives chase, she slows enough to let it drawm closet, her body radiating enough heat to damage a glacier now deeply.
Quake has posed:
"Good for me you know magic." Skye wasn't really a fan of magic users. But then again until she was forced into her own mutancy she wasn't a fan of mutants either. Not that she was against them, she doesn't know them very well.

In truth, Skye didn't trust many people. Less so, lately.

"I can put a wall behind him to make him go forward. The rest will be you guys. Okay?"

Providing that they agreed she will force the dragon one way by holding an impenetrable wall in the opposite direction.
Polaris has posed:
The dragon is slowly herded towards the rift, but it's slow going. It's tough and not easily shaken. Firestar's next blast causes it to shriek in anger, stroking a glancing blow that again is not lethal on such a tough beast, but enough to get its attention. It starts to give chase but pauses, distracted by some people nearby screaming and staring at the dragon.

Fortunately the wall herds it away, back towards the rift instead but it vices it's time..

"Hurry! There isn't much time!" Polaris warns, and while she is no sorceress like her sister, the electromagnetic energies are something she knows something about, eyes glowing green as she flies towards the rift, fingers crackling with energy as she focuses on trying to heal the rift, to prevent it from getting any bigger..
Firestar has posed:
Firestar notices when something seems to push the dragon and so she flies up and out of the way of the push, though she stays on course, blasting it again to annoy it into chasing at her.

She glances at Lorna and nods to her, seeeing the attempt to fix it. It's not a leap to know that's what is happening, so she remains just out of the dragon's reach, hot enough to keep the worst of its breath off her.
Quake has posed:
As the other two fend the dragon off and get him closer to the portal, Skye make her wall become more succinct making anything he tries to do impossible unless he goes they they want him to go.
Polaris has posed:
Between the two of them they manage to herd the dangerous ice dragon back through the rift, back to its home realm wherever that may be. "Good job! Now to finish this!" Polaris replies, gritting her teeth as she pours her energy into manipulating the electromagnetic rift, pouring every ounce of strength into healing the tear in reality. It's a rough job, like high level surgery performed by one who is neither so experienced at such things as her father, and once the portal is sealed, she sinks to the ground, exhausted.

Now that the danger is over, the fleeing mutants stop running, picking themselves off, life slowly resuming to normal..
Firestar has posed:
Firestar remains on vigil, watching to make sure nothing comes back out of the rift without a double blast of her masers to push it back. She keeps a peripheral watch on Lorna.

When the fissure is closed, Angelica flies to Lorna's side and hooks under one shoulder to make the landing as easy as possible to make sure she doesn't fall.

She looks back to Skye and nods towards her,"Thank you. I don't know what you did, but I was contemplating trying to fly through the rift and hope I could get back out without the monster."
Quake has posed:
"Actually, I almost forgot that I could do more than SHIELD uses of me. We don't generally attack dragons!" Skye grimaces. "What happened with.." She gestures at the formerly open portal. "That kind of thing is normally WAND territory."

She looks between both women.
Polaris has posed:
Lorna Dane smirks, climbing shakily to her feet. "Heh, you're brave, Firestar, thanks to you and your friend over there." she nods to Skye, "Now I just have to find Spiral before she causes anymore chaos but first, I should head home, get some rest." she smiles, "But looks like I owe you both coffee..Raincheck?"
