Valhalla I Am Coming
Date of Scene: 20 July 2017
Location: Midtown Manhattan
Synopsis: So, how exactly did Dani get so young anyway? Who knows!
Cast of Characters: Moonstar, Rainmaker

Moonstar has posed:
It's a rather peaceful day in Midtown, all things considered. All the regular supervillains must be off enjoying the midsummer sales or watching baseball. A perfect day for relaxing in the park, albeit a bit hot and humid... it IS New York after all...

Which is why it's a surprise that there's a sudden crackling thunder from above, followed by a massive crashing noise. And the observant would notice a figure falling from the sky, looking to impact directly at the center of the park. Following close behind is a winged stallion, diving to try and catch up to the person descending... but it doesn't look like the horse will catch her.

Rainmaker has posed:
It's been an odd day for Sarah, in that she's been forced to confront some of her worldview taking a hard hit over the past view days. Mostly, in that 1) spirits exist, and 2) at least one storm spirit got really cranky at her with messing with the weather. Though a friend interceded for her, she had to promise that she'd help the spirit create a perfect storm....preferably away from any people, where it could romp to its heart content, and they'd call that even.

With that in mind, she's been sitting in the park, back against a tree, as she concentrates, gently but firmly weaving wind currents together to carefully and slowly intensify a building storm out over the ocean, giving ships and boats time to see it and get out of the way. Thus, it's been a bit on hold while she waits for that to happen. She figures six hours is probably enough, and it's not like she doesn't need the practice. Or mind...if there's anything she enjoys, it's simply feeling the weather through her powers, the swirling wind and rain and the feel of nature beating against her mind.

More importantly, she's holding the wind in her mind right about when the CRACK of thunder draws her attention, as she looks up. Wait, that wasn't her?!? And then she sees the figure go plummeting, the winged horse falling after it.

Oh no. She knows that horse.

She pushes to her feet, the wind gusting under her it picks her up, sending her hurtling up in a arc towards the falling woman, her arms stretching out, before she woofs as Dani hits her, her arms wrapping around her security. "Got you!" she says, letting herself be carried slightyl forward so she doesn't intersect with the pursuing horse, before she lows herself back to the ground, setting the woman in her arms carefully on the ground as she leans over her worriedly, then blinks. "...Dani?" she says uncertainly. But she looks...more her own age. A sister, maybe?

Moonstar has posed:
It definitely /looks/ like Dani... well, when Dani was a teenager anyway, though the clothes are the same, including the Asgardian regalia since she's a Valkyrie and all that. She stirs a little, "Wha... Storm...?" Well, not a bad guess, considering she's still dazed and hasn't opened her eyes yet.

Then she sits up, gasping suddenly as her eyes shoot open, "What the, where...?!?" She looks around a bit, then fixes on Sarah, "Wait, Sarah? Where... where am I?"

Meanwhile, Brightwind lands nearby and trots over to Dani, nuzzling at her hair a bit as the horse looks both concerned and relieved that Dani didn't crash full on into the ground. Reaching back, Dani scritches the stallion's head, looking at Sarah with confusion, "I... it's Sarah, right?" She shakes her head, as if struggling to remember.

Rainmaker has posed:
The other native girl's eyes widen a bit as she carefully slides an arm around her. "...Dani?" she says, sounding a little shocked. She just met the woman weeks ago, and she was DEFINITELY an adult woman then. Now, she looks like she's more Roxie's age, years younger than Sarah herself. "Ah, you're in Bryant Park, in New York." she says, frowning a bit as looks you over for any obvious injures. Finding none, she looks back into your eyes. "Yes...you remember? We met in Central Park, a few weeks back...are you okay? You look....really different." she says after a moment, glancing over at Brightwind as he starts nuzzling Dani's head. "I definitely remember him..."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani blinks a little, then slips off her helm, looking at it, then at Sarah, "I... feel, different. It's weird." She frowns, trying to think, "I just remember a flash, and then the next thing I know I was falling, and you caught me."

Dani smiles over at Brightwind, "Yes, Brightwind, I remember you..." She pets the horse, who, now looking less worried, stands nearby and nickers a bit. Then Dani looks back to Sarah, "I... remember you too. Kindof. I mean, I know you're Sarah, but I don't... I don't remember what we talked about. I remember school, and my friends and teachers there." Her expression darkens a bit as she says, "Doug. I remember Doug." She closes her eyes a bit, looking pained, "But it's all jumbled, somehow."

(OOC: This scene takes place before #1590)

Rainmaker has posed:
The other girl furrows her brow. "Here...lean this way for a moment.." she says thoughfully, then her fingers slide up, brushing your hair as she gently probes over your head. "...hmm. I don't think you've taken a bump." she says thoughfully, sitting back on her haunches. "You don't remember what happened before you fell out of the sky? Energy blast or impact or anything?"

She tilts her head a bit, looking thoughful. "Doug...is that a friend of yours? Should I give him a call?" she says, concerned. "Just because I can't find any bumps or something doesn't mean you didn't take some sort of shock..."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani shakes her head, "He.. he was, calling won't do any good, though." She sighs, "I don't remember anything other than a flash, and then..." She gestures, looking at herself, "I mean, I vaguely remember things, being older, but it's getting harder." She looks over at Sarah, and gives the girl a nod, "I think I'm only remembering you because you're here with me, right now. And... you caught me. Thanks." She sounds like she means it, too, even as she lets Sarah do the examination, which finds no real bumps or bruises of any kind.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah shoots you a quick smile. "Can't let the only Cheyenne girl I've ever met crater, right?" she responds, though there's still concern in her eyes. "Okay...your...memory is fading? Just recent memory or...how far back?" She'd wonder if it was some sort of psychic attack, but she's never seen one that actually reverse time in addition! She pauses to rummage in the messenger bag she's wearing and pulls out a bottle of water, popping it open. "Here, have a drink..." She looks over to Brightwind, noting the horse seems okay as well. "I'm sorry, I didn't see what happened, there was just a crack of thunder and then you were falling out of the sky with Brightwind trying to catch up to you."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles back, "Apache, right?" She takes the offered water and drinks, "I mean, I remember the school, going to Asgard, becoming a Valkyrie, Doug..." She pauses, "Sam..." Another long pause, then she nods, "It just feels like, anything but you and a few other things after gradu..." She pauses, then looks down, "Though, did I graduate? I feel like I didn't."

Rainmaker has posed:
"Western Apache, yes." Sarah confirms with a warm smile, then tilts her head. "Which school is this?" she says slowly. "Are there people there who you remember from more recently to?" This is really out of her balliwick in that she's not quite sure what happened, but she's thinking of ways to help already. She can't imagine being...what, 16, 17 again? Back before everything went down. Losing years of your life like that, that's got to be a hard thing. "Do you feel...dizzy, or ill, or anything like that?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hrms, "A little worried about playing meteor with the ground, but... feeling pretty good now." She does sound better, even if she's not really thinking about what she lost. Or even if she lost it, as she says, "It's... a, um, special school, actually." She smiles at Sarah, "But yeah, there's people there that can help me out. I know at least one person there definitely can." Because if there's a person she has faith in, it's the Professor.

Rainmaker has posed:
The other girl purses her lips, looking thoughful. "...okay." she decides, adjusting the strap on her messenger bag. "If these people can help you then, how about I go with you to get you there, just in case you get dizzy or decide to fall over or something?" she suggests. She's got nothing she can't put off for today, after all...the spirit can just deal with it taking a little longer than a few hours for his perfect storm to happen. "Ah, though.." she says, glancing at Brightwing. "...it's been a little bit since I've ridden on a horse, so only if he's good with having a passenger?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani gets to her feet, then smiles, "Yes, we can both go there. It's... just upstate, since we're in Midtown." She looks around, getting her bearings as she easily gets on the horse as if born to it. Then she extends a hand downwards to Sarah, "I'm probably going to end up spending some time there to try and get my bearings, anyway." Though she seems to be settling in to the changes that have been made rather easily. A bit too easily...

Rainmaker has posed:
The other woman takes the hand and swings up gracefully behind you with the air of someone who's ridden a horse bareback before, then loosely slides her arms around your waist for balance, her knees squeezing gently against Brightwind's sides. A little tense...because she's not ridden a FLYING horse bareback before. "Um...sure? If it's a safe place for you though, that seems wise to me." she notes, leaning into you a little bit from behind. "...you're taking this pretty well, actually."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani shakes her head, "I mean, I remember my 17th birthday and..." She glances back over her shoulder at Sarah, "I don't know, I guess if I remembered more after that I'd be freaking out, but I can't... every time I try to go much further it just gets that flash of light again. But I know that if anyone can fix it, it'd be the people at the School."

Which is the point where Brightwind starts to gallop, then launches into the air, banking as he gets altitude, which causes Dani to let out a WOO HOO! as the wind blows her hair backwards. She turns towards Sarah, "You alright back there?"

Rainmaker has posed:
The girl behind you makes a faint noise as her breath catches, almost a squeak as her arms tighten and she presses more firmly against your back as you take to the air. "Whew....y-yeah...that's different..." she admits, starting to breath again and loosening her tight hold a little bit as you get airborn and Brightwing evens out his pace a bit more. "I'd really be a saddle girl when it comes to flying horses usually, I think!" she says, laughing a bit at it now, her hands resting against your stomach for balance.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs back at Sarah, "Well, just hang on tight." She smiles towards Sarah, "So... um, this is going to sound weird and all, but when we met before? What did we talk about? I mean, the flying horse and armor didn't freak you out, so I figured I told you that much, or you saw that much, but aside from your name and a little bit, I don't... well, I don't remember much of what happened."

Rainmaker has posed:
The other girl has no problems holding on tight, her arms more snugly holding on as she presses up against you again comfortably, her breasts flattening lightly against your back. Really, her day is improving, she's getting to ride a flying horse! How cool is that?! And if there's a pretty girl to ride with, well..she's not going to say no to that either, even if she's fairly sure Dani doesn't quite lean that way. "Well, I was studying and bumped into a girl I'd known, as you were walking by with Brightwing...' she says, thinking back "Which made you the center of attention, really. Or at least, Brightwing. I greeted you....in Apache, because I figured, why not, you might be from one of my tribe or nearby...but you told me you didn't speak it but greeted me all the same. We chatted for a while about Brightwing and what it was like to be a valkyrie, how you'd ended up with the job, if you really could choose who would die, that sort of thing? What Asgard was like." She rests her chin on your shoulder comfortably, her long hair flowing in a banner behind her as you rush through the air.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani... well, she doesn't really seem to mind, leaning back a bit towards Sarah as she tilts her head, "Yeah, I don't really choose so much as see when it's going to happen." She smiles, "Brightwind does tend to be a bit of an attention-getter for me." She laughs a bit, and then says, a bit softer, "Um, thanks for saving my life earlier." Her eyes dance as she looks back at Sarah, her head tilting a little.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah finds it a bit easier to talk over the rush of wind past you as Brightwing flies along by just leaving her chin brushing your shoulder, so she can talk in a normal tone by your ear. "Well, he was a bit snippy with the girl I was with until you let her feed him an apple first." she admits, flatting her hands against your stomach. Probably unnecessary to do it for balance, but...it's a very nice stomach, she finds. "And my pleasure..you'd have done the same." she says, a confident tone about that in her voice. "I'm just glad I was there, I don't know if Brightwing would have caught you in time...and that would have hurt...' she says, frowning.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani arches back a bit, turning her head slightly towards Sarah as she says, "Well, yeah, just a little bit. So thanks are definitely in order." She grins at Sarah, not saying anything else, but she does lightly place her own hand over those resting on her stomach, her smile widening just a little bit. Then she shifts gears a bit, "Brightwind can be a little testy without bribing him first." At that, the horse snorts a little bit, as if insulted while he continues flying the fastest way to Westchester County.

Rainmaker has posed:
"Oh, he was, but to be fair she didn't ask before she tried to pet him either. She's very...excitable." Sarah admits thoughfully. "I haven't been able to bump into you since then though, but it's a big city, and I'm guessing being a valkyrie is kind of a full time job?" She rests her chin on your shoulders, responding a little when you relax into her and press back against her more. Yes. This is a good day, she thinks to herself. "Or is it more a part time job where you're on call, like an EMT or something?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hmms, "It's a little more of a part time job, more than anything else. Most of the time I'm..." She blinks, trying to think as her eyes seem to zone out a little.

Then she snaps back to reality, saying to Sarah, "Um, yeah, I guess full time I'm going back to school again. At least until I figure out what happened." She lets her head roll back a bit, just enjoying the tight embrace of Sarah behind her as she now has both hands over hers. She isn't saying anything about that, mostly because she wouldn't want to wreck the mood if she did.

Rainmaker has posed:
The other girl seems quite comfy snuggled up against your back as you fly along. "Oh? Ah, what did you go to school for there before? I mean...that has to suck, having to get a degree twice though." she says with a little frown. "What kind of school is it?" she wonders, a little wistfully. College and the like, even normal schools, that's something she's never really been able to enjoy, being on the run since she was in middle school. She's wondered at times what it would have been like to be able to have a normal school life like that...would she be that much different? Maybe she'd have had a lot more friends, she's sure.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hmms, "Well, it's a school for special people. People with talents." She chuckles, "Graduated from there for high school, or will graduate I guess. We were all pretty close there." She half-closes her eyes, her head resting back against Sarah's as she smiles, squeezing the other girl's hands with hers. Though she isn't falling asleep as she keeps talking, "Guess you didn't really go to school, then?" She doesn't sound judgy, but does kinda pick up on the tone Sarah has as she listens.

Rainmaker has posed:
There's a little hesistation from Sarah, partly that she's so easy to read on this point, a little hint of embarrassement. "...no. I couldn't, when I was on the rez. My mother and I, we lived way out away from everything else, so...it wasn't possible. And now I just...can't." she admits. "I do read a lot though, textbooks that I find sometimes.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, "Yeah, until I went to the school, it was pretty much the same for me. Just raised by my grandfather on our rez." She gives those hands a bit of a squeeze again, then smiles, "Hey, not judging here at all. I know it's tough. I just got lucky." She then smiles down at Brightwind, and looks back at Sarah, "Really lucky."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah smiles a bit you can hear it in her voice even if you can't see it easily where she is right now. "You definitely have an interesting life..." she admits. "And it's fine, it..just wasn't something that could happen for me. I'm glad you had the chance, not a lot of us make it out...." she admits, then adds "...much less become mythological figures from another belief system." she says amusedly.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Yeah, wasn't quite expecting that either, but I saved Brightwind, and... well, we bonded. Which is all you need to do I guess, so I became a Valkyrie." She grins at Sarah, "Though, dumb question... you gonna need a ride back to the city when I get dropped off?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah ers, getting an uncertain expression. "Ah, I can, um, get an uber or something if I need to." Or fly. She doesn't say that, of course, because she hasn't yet brought up that she has those sorts of abilities with Dani, then smiles at her. "It'll be fine. I'm more worried about you getting settled and your friends helping you out. Besides...I kind of want to see this school now..." she says thoughtfully. "You seem like you really like it."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles, "It's really, well... it's helped me a lot, as a person. I was pretty much, well, a jerk, when I first got there. Then I learned some discipline, experienced a lot, and I suppose grew up." She smirks a touch at that, the irony not being lost on her, "But yeah, once I get there I'll be fine. But I think it's sweet that you're worried that much." She gives Sarah's hands another squeeze.

Rainmaker has posed:
Her fingers curl in response against your stomach a little as she smiles. "A jerk, huh? That's hard to believe." she admits, smiling warmly. "Were you a wild girl then? Wait, were you this age originally when you went to school there, or younger?" she wonders curiously. "And of course I am. Amerindian girls united! Not like there's a lot of us in New York..." she says with amusement.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Yeah, not really wild so much as... angry." She looks a bit abashed at that, "Took me some time to get over that. Still not really over it, but I try and channel it to something useful." She grins, "Don't think I've ever been a wild girl in my life, though." A slight gasp escapes her as those fingers curl at her stomach, feeling that sensation, and not seeming to mind it at all. Then she nods, "Yeah, not many of us, especially like /us/." Because she knows Sarah didn't catch her from the ground, not with how fast she was falling.

Rainmaker has posed:
The other girl sighs out at that, her breath warm against your ear briefly. "Oh, I know all about that..." she admits. "I was...really bitter, a year or so ago." Being hunted and captured and tormented by a secret organization will do that to a girl. "I like to think I'm getting a bit more...calm, as time goes on. Or at least...less where I feel like I have to start arguing every little point I disagree with." she says, frowning thoughfully.

Those fingers stiffen a little. "...ah...I'm defintely not a valkyrie...." she starts to say, trying to brush it off a little bit, almost reflexively.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani snickers, "Relax. I don't know how you caught me... but I know you didn't catch me from the ground, Sarah. Don't really care how either, it's your business." She smiles back at Sarah, and gently slips her fingers through Sarah's, interlacing them as she squeezes, Dani's eyes meeting her passengers as she says, "But I'm glad you did."

Rainmaker has posed:
There's a faint grumble, then a huff of air. "...I try not to do that, but it seemed like a good idea at the time." she murmurs wryly, sighing out, then blinking as she feels the fingers interlace with hers, smiling a little bit back at you. "...you're welcome." she murmurs. "And....yes, I can fly. Among other things." It feels sort of good to say that, really. She's so used to hiding it from people, it's good just to...say it. "I try not to so people don't see me, though, it's really hard to hide, compared to more subtle things I can do."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, "Well, I owe you big for that, Sarah. Don't think I'll forget it either." Which is probably another reason for the ride. She smiles at Sarah, "Um, silly question... but how much older /was/ I? Because now I think we're about the same, or maybe I'm a bit younger? And is this, um, weird? Well, in a bad way?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah blinks a bit at that, looking unsure. "Well...you looked at least late twenties to me." she says after a moment. "No...ah....I think you might be more my roommate Roxy's age." She frowns as she considers that. "That'd make you...ah, two, three years younger?" she says after a moment of thought. "I'm 19." And wow, she hadn't even thought of that, that would make her...what, 16, 17? Eek.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani ohs, "Well, I think I'm seventeen now. I mean, I'll need to get checked to make sure but... yeah, that sounds about right, with what I remember." She looks back at Sarah, "So... two years?" She looks a bit sheepish at that, especially when she gets a feel for what thoughts are going through Sarah's head when she talks ages. "But I'd turn 18 next May?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah siiighs and grumbles. "...now I feel a bit skeevy..." she says with amusement. "All hugging a junior classman." She raises a brow archly. "Unless I get to be your sempai? If Roxy's anime has taught me anything, it's completely allowed in that case."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Um, I'm gonna need to do some research on that, but otherwise... sure?" She laughs, "I mean, I haven't ever watched anime before, I don't think. Though some of the others tried to drag me into it."

Rainmaker has posed:
That draws a little giggle from Sarah. "I hadn't either, don't worry, it's just hard not to when you're living in the same rooms as someone who does." she says with a smile. "It's sort of fun, though very strange. And the Japanese are just....weird about sex and female fetishism and objectivication, which Roxy wouldn't let me explain to her at all last time I noticed it..." she says, grumping a bit. She hasn't taken her hands away from where they are, though she does lift her head a little so her chin isn't resting on your shoulder now.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Oh, I bet... man, now I think I want to see some of this stuff just to mock it mercilessly." She grins back at Sarah, "But um, yeah, if you want to give me your number, I can let you know how I'm doing, and everything. If it wouldn't be too skeevy for you?" She winks, as apparently Dani doesn't seem to find it very skeevy.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah smiles at that. "Sure, that sounds fun. Maybe you can come by our place sometime. It's not much, but we do have a fairly nice TV now." she admits. "And sure...as long as I'm your sempai now." she says archly. "Want me to write it down? I think I have a sticky note or something I can give you...." She gets a slightly teasing light in her eyes. "Or I could just sign somewhere, I suppose."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani chuckles, "Um, was thinking you could text me?" She smiles a bit, "Hey, I might be a Valkyrie but I /do/ have a smartphone." Then she gets an impish look, saying in a very cheesy Asgardian accent, "Forsooth, mine email also works through the Rainbow Bridge, verily, sempai Sarah!"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah lets out a peal of laughter at that, her eyes twinkling. "Fine, I'll text then...but then I need your number, don't I?" she points out amusedly. "We can do that when we're on the ground though, I don't want to try and juggle my phone free this high up." She hmms. "Or you can invite me over, maybe. I don't know if your school allows it though, but it sounds kinda nice. I would mind seeing it sometime.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hrms, and smiles, "Well, I'd have to clear it first. I mean, we're kinda secret. I don't think it'd be a problem if you came in, but I really should ask first." She nods, "But yeah, when we get down, we can swap numbers." Her eyes focus on Sarah's, meeting her gaze as she grins, "So, um, what exactly /is/ a sempai?"

Rainmaker has posed:
That draws a suprised glance, and a raised brow. "....secret? Um.." She looks a little unsure now. "So, I should probably just...you could let me out outside if it would get you in trouble to take me on the grounds then." she says thoughfully. She smiles a little at the question. "As near as I can tell, a sempai is a student who's a few years older than you who is supposed to be guiding you that you look up to." She ums. "...and in a lot of them, apparently lust for, but I think that's not a requirement. See: Japanese are really weird about sexual fetishism." She grins a bit.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani blushes, but still grins, "Er, okay, well, um... so... um..." She ohs, secrets! Secrets are safer! "Well, I mean, you're powered, you saved my ass, and you seem pretty discrete, so I don't /think/ it should be a problem, but better safe than sorry. Brightwind will land us right outside the grounds." And with that, she leans in and actually pecks Sarah on the cheek, making sure her hands still have a grip on Sarah's so the surprise doesn't make her lose her grip.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah blinks, then smiles a bit at you as she says. "You're welcome." she says softly, smiling a bit. "Like I said though...you would have done the same if it was me in trouble." She gives you a little squeeze with her arms. "It's fine, I don't mind. I can always fly back from wherever I end up." she admits cheerfully.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, and leans back again, sighing a bit as she actually seems to relax a little. Which Dani doesn't always get a chance to do, but up here, with her best friend and some nice company, she's more than happy to take the opportunity on the flight back home.
