Checking the Park for Clues
Date of Scene: 20 April 2024
Location: Apple Park - Salem Center
Synopsis: Sarah and Cameron check out the site at Apple Park. Sarah asks why John is so worried about her.
Cast of Characters: Cameron, Sarah Connor

Cameron has posed:
After they had parted ways with Jacen, the two women had opted to return to the park. There were several reasons for this. They needed to be sure everything was covered completely though by this time, fire units and law enforcement might already be on scene so they had to move cautiously. There had been an explosion after all.

This time, Cameron was the passenger. She had gloves on her hands, covering the metallic exoskeleton. Her face was a little more difficult but just letting her hair down a shifting of where she parted it normally allowed her to shield the damaged side of her face. It wouldn't stand up to any sort of close inspection but at a glance, she looked human.

Once they arrived, there was no sign of police or fire. Just the quiet park. For though there had been an explosion, it had been limited in scope and area so perhaps it was just another loud sound to people in the area.

That was their first bit of good luck. Not to see if Lady Luck was still on their side.
Sarah Connor has posed:
"Hrm. Want to bet they were too busy to look after the call?" Sarah is sure that a call was made, but the park was usually empty during the winter and cool spring months. And if no one really complained, it was easy enough to shove it down the stack of complaints until it was lost.

As Cameron said, they were lucky.

"I've been attacked before at this park. Last year." While John was still in school. "Do you really think the terminator didn't have that knowledge floating at the periphery even if they weren't out here to capture me?"

Sarah looked at the damage that Cameron took, and let a low whistle, without any comment.
Cameron has posed:
"I am not certain but I do not believe we were her mission. I suspect she was here for another task." Cameron moved with Sarah into the park, to the area where they had battled the killer machine. There was a slight charred spot on the ground but nothing else. She began to scan with her higher level sensors for anything that might be important.

"Police and fire look like they had come but the fire was out by then. It looks like the fire was doused but I suspect they think it was not an explosion. Since we left nothing here that stood out, they probably just made sure there was nothing alight and left." She glanced over to Sarah. "We can check police records later to confirm."

Then she started to work a grid search for bits of terminator that might've been missed.
Sarah Connor has posed:
As Sarah checks the char marks, she nods. "They didn't do too much. So your supposition that it was almost out is a pretty good one. Although.."

Sarah gets up and thinks. "You don't know if a second terminator might have put out most of it? You say that she was on another mission. What if they don't want anyone being nosy either?"
Cameron has posed:
"Could be. But often when we are sent on other missions, it is without a support system. Like the one that I found in that wall." It was something she'd had to admit to. She had learned of a terminator that had arrived in this time decades before. In order to be at the time he was required for his purpose, he had built himself into a wall of a building and shut down with a timer to allow for him to wake the day he was to perform his assasination. Cameron had found out, went there, and destroyed the machine. Thus getting spare parts. Which she'd had to tell the story to John and Sarah in order to explain where the parts came from.

"It is possible. Too may variables to know." She picked up small bits of metal they had missed the first time around. The fact they were still there showed the fire personnel had not taken it as an actual explosion. it just looked like someone had dropped a cigarette or a match. Could even be a homeless person having lit a fire.
Sarah Connor has posed:
"I'll take your word on it." Sarah made a slow circular path to check everything carefully from the point of ignition to where it stopped burning. Picking it bits and pieces of metal as she did.

"So, what are you allowed to tell me about this mission to stop me? John is fairly certain that my life is in danger, isn't he?"

This was the first time they had been apart, except for when she was held in the mental hospital. It was odd to find John was worried more about her, than his own life. It was odd. She was quite capable of looking after herself.

At least she thought so?
Cameron has posed:
That caused Cameron to pause, her eyes shifting toward Sarah's position before her head turned to follow that motion until she was looking at the other woman. It was one of those little tells that Terminator's had unless they were programmed to hide it. As they were always the most efficient in their motions otherwise which included moving their eyes to focus on something more quickly than the wasted motion of turning the head.

"While he is always a primary target, he isn't always a primary mission. However, in this situation it is a concentrate effort to get to him. Thus his being hidden. All of us would then use the person closest to him as a target to use in order to force him to reveal himself. He believes that you are more likely to be sought out without being killed. They would want to capture you alive as a bargaining chip, as the saying goes."
Sarah Connor has posed:
She listens carefully. Listening for what isn't said as well as what is. Sarah had lots of 'training' with lies. She was an expert of them - both the giving /and/ receiving. Nothing stood out from what Cameron said.

Sarah was a trap. Plain and simple. She could deal with that.

And more so, she knew how to work it to her advantage. Providing Cameron hadn't kept things to herself. And she would only have done so if John was at a bigger risk by telling her.

"I've checked this site two times. There isn't anything that I can tell that was left behind. You?"
Cameron has posed:
"A few scraps which I have now. Nothing that would have called attention and nothing that would have caused problems." She had a pocket of a few bits and pieces. But there was nothing really here that was a danger.

Skynet would not be created from the remains of this particular machine they had destroyed.

"I think we are safe to go." And she turned to move back toward the truck.
