Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Andromeda, Aqualad

Andromeda has posed:
Boom Tubes had opened all over the planet, some of them huge. Hordes of Apokalyptian forces had poured through, but the people of Earth did not roll over and die. No, especially in the New York area the planet had defenders. A group of them had even won a small battle but the overwhelming force had passed this small bulwark by, kidnapping people for the slave pits and causing destruction as they went.

The storm has finally come. War was here.

After a quick trip up to the Legion cruiser and a swing around the planet to be sure there were no lurking Apokalyptian death-lasers in orbit Laurel felt that she had a moment to check on a few people, though really the only person she knew on Earth other than the heroes she had just fought alongside was a single Titan. So, off to find him.

She landed near the ground entrance and strode towards the door, not thinking that the Tower might be locked down and the defenses fully armed.

Aqualad has posed:
The Tower is, itself, far from defenseless. It was designed by members of the Bat-Family, for whom foresight and preparation are second nature.

When Laurel lands, multiple klaxons start to sound. The Tower itself seems to have been reinforced at key points with heavy ablative armor, and ground turrets activate, their purpose unknown. They make a bristling complement to the anti-air weapons on the roof.

Knowing the Batlings, they are probably not lethal-- but may be something much worse.

<<Halt. State your identity,>> a glowing, sullen security barks at Laurel, before she can get much closer.

Kaldur is on dispatch at the tower, supervising teams in the field; the Atlantean warrior watches Laurel make her approach, and the Tower's sensors ping her rapidly to establish her identity.

Still, he waits a few moments for her to respond.

Andromeda has posed:
Laurel is a figure in the same general reds and blues of Superman, but in a different configuration. Her tunic is red, her short pleated skirt deep blue. HEr long cape is the same color, attached to the top with golden discs.

She shakes her blonde hair out as she is challenged. "I'm Laurel. I've been here before." she points out. "I was just coming to see if your place was still standing and give the little Batman some more information about the invaders."

Aqualad has posed:
There's silence from the tower, then two of the cannons pivot away from Laurel. A different voice comes over the tower's comsystems.

"Identity confirmed," Kaldur says into the speaker, eying the power levels radiating from Laurel's skin. If the Apokalyptans can easily replicate that, then Earth's in even more dire trouble than they thought-- and it's a risk worth taking to let her in and find out.

"Please hurry inside. Enemy patrols are sweeping this area frequently," Kaldur says. The path to the Tower's base clears for Laurel and once she approaches the lobby doors, they slide open. Kaldur emerges into the lobby, dressed in Atlantean battle armor and with his weapons on his back.

"The Robin is on mission," Kaldur says, taking only a moment to sketch a quick bow of greeting. "If you have intelligence, I will ensure it reaches him."

Andromeda has posed:
Laurel does hurry in. One moment she's outside and the next she's inside as the doors open.

"Hello." she greets. "I'm Laurel." and then she looks Kaldur over again. "I'm not sure I remember reading about you. My memory of my Earth history class is terrible anyway. You're sure there's no Flash or Green Lantern on your team?" she wonders.
"Oh, it's not really important. You're all safe, then? Noone's missing? They're dragging people off into their dimensional portals, I'm afraid."

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur's face dosn't fall, but his sturdy expression grows a bit grim. "Kaldur'ahm, of Atlantis," he says. "We have been unable to make contact with several team members," Kaldur informs Laurel. "But communications are spotty, so it would be presumptuous to assume they had been kidnapped. Members of the team are extremely clever and capable."

"But if you have evidence of anyone being taken, please let us know. How goes the fight?" Kaldur asks Laurel. "You're affiliated with the Superman, are you not?" he says, glancing at her attire. "

Andromeda has posed:
"Nothing specific about your team, though I'm afraid that I'm a bit confused about who exactly is on your team. I only know that the invaders _are_ kidnapping people. They tried to take a few of the heroes who were fighting last evening.
"The fight goes as well as can be expected, I think. A number of heroes tried to stand against a local front of the enemy soldiers and we did well, but there were too many of them and most of their forces just passed us by. I assume other groups did the same. They didn't seem to really want to fight, more like they wanted to cause terror and take captives back through their portals."

Laurel looks down at her costume and then back to Kaldur. "Oh. Well, not really. My friends and I..." and she looks towards the sky a moment. "... well, we _are_ big fans of Superman. He's a real inspiration for us. All of you are." and she looks around a moment. "I _still_ can't believe I'm really standing here. It's not like the museum or the trideo at all."

Aqualad has posed:
"I see," Kaldur says. Laurel's sidebar about the museum goes over the Atlantean's head; he gives her a look of mild uncertainty, but doesn't seem to grasp what she's insinuating.

"The Titans are spread rather thin at the moment," Kaldur agrees. "We're focusing our efforts on the civilian population, trying to keep emergencies from turning into disasters. The League and the Avengers seem better suited and organized for dealing with the invaders directly," he points out.

Andromeda has posed:
"That's what the little Robin said. He seemed angry that the League hadn't called and asked for help." Laurel says. "That they thought maybe your team couldn't help. That was a strange idea for me. I told him that you all were thought of very highly from what anyone wrote down or could remember about you."

She nods, though. "At least the Tower seems to be in one piece. There's that."

Aqualad has posed:
"There is that," Kaldur agrees. "I am somewhat new to the team, and the mechanics of our alliance with the more ... senior among us is still somewhat opaque to me," Kaldur confesses.

"But if my King says it is best for us to assist the civilians, then that I what I shall do. The Titans are not as regimented as a military unit; no one is here involuntarily. All we can do is work as closely together as possible."

"I do not wish to sound rude, but there remains a great deal of work remaining," Kaldur informs Laurel. "And you are no doubt needed elsewhere as well. My thanks, for bringing me what news you could," he tells the woman, offering her a clasp of the wrist. "I will look for you when the battle is over, that we might have a better opportunity to speak."

Andromeda has posed:
"No. No, you're right. I was just all starry-eyed." Laurel agrees. "I didn't think. Lots to do, yes." She clasps the Atlantean's wrist in return. "Nice to meet you. If there's anything else I can do, there's probably some way to contact me. Shine the Laurel signal or just shout a lot. I'll keep an ear out."
