Synopsis: Skye drops the Genus meeting in Fury's lap and finds herself volunteering to go undercover in Rising Tide. Welcome to the big leagues, Skye. You're an Agent now.
Cast of Characters: Quake, Nick Fury

Quake has posed:
It was just after moving day for Skye. Which meant just after New Year's for everyone else. Riding the wave of the interruption of the ball drop in Time's Square, and the subsequent kerfluffle in different quarters - like SHIELD - over how did they manage that (people like Skye knew how), and just what were they going to do next? Skye had the answer to that, too. Well, she'd had guesses before. She has answers now.

Which is what brought her to Fury's office.

Yet again without calling ahead.. Though really, the girl should just make standing office hours with him at the rate.

Nick Fury has posed:
The doors to Fury's office open as Skye approaches. Fury calls out, "Come in Agent Joyhnson. I've been expecting you." Fury is sitting behind his desk, but standsa as Skye arrives. "I heard you were looking for me..." Heard? From whom? "...and I thought I'd make myself available. Sorry I haven't been around. I've been dealing with another issue." Yeah, a big mutant issue.

So, today is another day. What did you want to discuss? I assume it is about your...situation. Come in, so the doors can close, and we can be as secure as anywhere can be around here." That was an interesting comment.

Quake has posed:
Skye cants her head as she pauses in the doorway. Right. He was expecting her. That one she couldn't fathom.. well, okay. It was Rising Tide who'd messed up everyone's celebrations. He probably expected her immediately after her arrival back from Starling. That she'd waited this long might have been a surprise.

Unless he'd actually heard about her meeting with Genus. In which case she was a tad bit concerned. That hadn't been on anyone's records. And the contact had come to her through secure equipment. The thought that she might be under that personal a watch was a little disconcerting. If very Fury.

She was, however, blocking the door.

Moving into the office she takes a seat. Her usual smirk is lacking today. That might be a heads up to the man. "So. One of my old contacts got ahold of me. I know what Lotus did with what she stole. I've a pretty good idea what she took, too. Or at least part of it."

Nick Fury has posed:
Watching Skye carefully, Fury waits several moments before reply to her, waiting for her to get her thoughts and comments out there. Interrupting was not on his mind right now. Watching as she heads towards a chair, Fury pauses, lets her sit, and says, "Sit. Or stand. Up to you. Quick meeting or long one?"

Fury taps the desk for some reason, and looks at something on his viewscreen. Slightly distracted, Fury frowns, and then looks back at Skye. "Stark. Huh. Trying to get my attention again."

Shaking his head, Fury says, "Go on." It sounds like he knows some of it already, but needs her report. "I follow so far."

Quake has posed:
Stark's mention gets a snort of amusement. "Figures. And I don't know how long a meeting. I think this one is kind of up to you."

Shrugging, she sits.

"She handed them this." Skye pulls a flashdrive out of her pocket and sets it on Fury's desk between them. "Nothing above a level 7. But some of it's pretty damning. My contact says things are falling apart over there at Tide. They're getting into shit they shouldn't be. Or wouldn't have a year ago." Like when she was part of their organization.

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury takes a moment, and then, without a sound, sits down in his chair. The leather chair surrendering to his body. His eye watches Skye as he leans forward and "steeples" his fingers together. "Of course, Agent Johnson. Proceed." Fury nods, not responding to "how long is up to him" and takes the flashdrive and it disappears with minimal motion.

"Rising Tide is almost dealt with. Chaos can be a good thing, Agent Johnson...or a bad thing. We need to ensure that they don't do anything stupid in their demise." Fury says, "Can you handle the cleanup? What do you need from me to make this happen?

Quake has posed:
Skye just looks mildly confused at this point, brow furrowing. "What do you mean almost dealt with?"

To her mind they'd only really just popped up on the radar as an actual threat a day or so ago. Which meant Fury knew things she didn't know. Which wasn't a surprise. But what did he mean could she handle the cleanup? There weren't files to clean up. There was a flashdrive he now had (yes, she'd looked at it). There was the ongoing pulling apart of the information they'd retrieved from the Hammerfall operation - but that was Hydra, not Rising Tide. The only connection between the two was Lotus..

And then it hits her.

"You have to be kidding me. You did not haul my ass out of there just to send me back in. That's what you're saying, right?"

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury frowns and his eye flashes. That was what passed for him getting angry. Or...disappointed. Fury stands, turns and looks out the window. Reaching into his jacket, Fury pulls something out, smal, indistinct, and presses a button. "Agent Johnson, I have been continuously impressed with your abilities and where you have taken this file. Your...abilities are impressive." Fury's back was to her as he continues.

What I am about to tell you is outside your security clearance. For now." Fury pauses. "Zola is not the only ancient Hydra villain that is about. Baron Helmut Zemo is also in my crosshairs, and was involved in our initial breech several months ago. I am sure you are aware of those events, as this is what started this whole situation."

Fury then adds, "I want your true assessment Agent." Fury pauses. "What is the next step...considering Hammerfall and considering Tide? How do we deal with this as quickly, quietly and efficiently as possible...where do we go from here?" This last was with Fury looking over his shoulder at her, with his one good eye. He was asking what she wanted to do next.

Quake has posed:
The 'for now' really should have scared her more. Some day in the future she'll look back on this and shake her head at her past self and say 'There. That right there is the point in time you should have run.' For now, though, all it did was send the young agent into deep thought.

Really, there were agents much better suited for a lot of things, but this one she knew had her name written all over it. Or Maybe Nat's. Nat had the skills. She just didn't have the in.

The in was what Skye had. All tailor made and ready, complete with a mostly plausible backstory for making it happen...

"You're blind," she says finally. "My contact won't risk themself to be a runner on this. And I wouldn't ask them to anyway. Not for what you need. You need someone inside. Who knows the organization. The people. Who has a reason to want in." Or, in her case, back in.

She gives Fury a direct look. "I'll need something they want. Something to make it look like I've burned all the bridges there are between here and there, and am a smug little asshole to boot. That's what you want to hear, right?" She chuckles to herself, softly. "Wow. This is the job that just keeps on getting better. I'm outing myself left right and center."

Nick Fury has posed:
"Blind. Really." Fury turns back to Skye, and truly looks at her. The sound in his voice was one of gentle amusement. "HUh. Been told that before, that's true. Not truly blind while technology allows me to see...everything." Fury actually smiles, and sits back down.

"Okay. Sounds like to me, you have this already figured out." Fury taps a few things on his monitor, and the thing that he had been pressing on disappears back in his jacket. A jammer? Maybe. High tech, and tiny...interesting.

"Agent Johnson, there is no one better suited to this mission than you. Which is why I'm letting you run with it. I need my top Agents to be able to do this. Otherwise, I'd be micro-managing my way into an early grave. Not that that isn't where I am headed anyway." Fury leans back, and adds, "Just tell me what you want, what you need, and Agent Barton can help any way he can, without compromising his...situations."

Quake has posed:
Skye grins as she realizes what could have been a faux pas on her part with telling Fury he was blind. It was amsuing in some ways. Still, he wasn't completely right with the other.

"You're good with what you have, sir, but you're not infallible."

Or the Hydra attack wouldn't have happened. Or this. However..

"Clint can't know until after it's gone down. He's got to be believable. Everyone here has to be. Or at least as many as posssible. If I'm buying my way back in, it's got to taste and smell real, and they've got pictures of me on his arm at Tony's. There's no way they're buying unless he.. fuck. This is nasty. How do people do this and go home at night and act like it's all okay?"

The irony of her conversation last night with Clint hits her. What would she do if or when he was sent off, indeed. Only he wasn't the one going undercover. They hadn't discussed this eventuality.

"And I'm going to need something big. Big enough to make my story real. After that, I don't know. You tell me me." Though her brain is already clicking through possibilities of future contact.

Nick Fury has posed:
"No, I am not infallible." Suddenly Fury looks very tired..."I do miss a few things, Agent Johnson. No one is perfect. I just try and do the best I can with what I've been given. And right now, that is you." Fury looks at her in the eye/eyes, and shrugs.

"Big it is then. We can come up with a scenario that works. We're good for that. Perhaps Agent Coulson or Agent May can do the deed. Follow through on the details." Fury pauses, and gets back to her previous comments.

"So. Sounds to me like you are having the same discussion that every Agent has at one time or another. How do we do this and sleep at night? Self-medicating, mostly."

Fury chuckles, and turns around. Bending over, he opens a small fridge, pulls out a tall, clear bottle, grabs two glass, and fills each of them with a clear liquid. Pushing one towards Skye, and taking one for himself, Fury says, "Kind of like this." Fury downs his. "Drink up. It's going to be a long couple of weeks Ms. Johnson." Fury didn't call her Agent.
