Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Black Queen

Mon-El has posed:
It's almost midnight in Two Bridges, Manhattan, otherwise known as Chinatown. But even though tomorrow once more begins the regular humdrum of the work week, there are still a few people milling about the streets, a few restaurants with the lights still on although they are fairly empty by now.

Tonight, Lar is headed toward one in partcular--Duck Soup would be the most accurate English translation of its name. He'd stumbled upon it some time ago, and met a...rather interesting young lady. Of course, someone of his caliber remembers every detail. The way she was dressed, the food that was eaten, every sound, every sight, every smell. She'd told him that if he wanted to see her again, he could come here and tell the restaurant's staff. So, that's what here's here to do. He walks inside, just wearing street clothes for tonight and starts searching for either Selene or the woman she'd told him to speak to in order to ask for her.

Black Queen has posed:
There's a hostess standing by, chatting with one of the waiters in Chinese about the day. When Mon-El walks in she approaches to greet him, and assuming he tells her that he's there for Selene, she will smile and offer a wave to one of the booths. "She will come soon. I will contact her. Be patient."

Within about 5 minutes one Selene Gallio shows up, and this time she's dressed a little more than she was the last time. An olive top that still is somewhat revealing, but not as much as that previously tied top, and some black tight leather pants, but no glasses today. She approaches the hostess and smiles, nodding her head and speaking a little cantonese to the hostess before heading in Mon-El's direction. "It has been a super long time. Did not think you remembered even meeting me before?" She smiles lightly as she walks toward him to sit if he's already sat down.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar does go ahead and sit down at the booth indicated when instructed to wait, but it seems he won't have to wait long. He doesn't seem impatient, but maintains a pleasant demeanor, smiling when Selene arrives and sits down.

"Heh, didn't I tell you what I am? I remember everything," he replies. "Selene." A slight pause. "And now, I remember even more than before. No more amnesia."

Black Queen has posed:
Selene Gallio tilting her head a bit to the side, she smiles a bit, "Oh?" And settling herself on the booth she wonders, "So, you now remember all the things you had forgotten? Well, that must be a good thing." She indicates as she waves over the waiter who is nearby, "What would you like?" She questions a little and then adds, "There are many things on the menu, and last time you did not remember ever having chinese food. And if you would like anything to drink, please, by all means. Feel free." She leans back into her seat a bit and sighs out, smiling, "It is good to hear that you have returned to yourself. What kinds of things did you remember?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar chuckles, glancing at the menu for only a few seconds. "I think I'll have those potsticker things we had last time. Those were amazing. I think I understand why Kara was so crazy about them."

In response to the question about his memories, he nods. "Yes, everything. I remember everything now. I--apologize if I was acting kind of um...stupid last time. Even though I did have some vague memories of growing up on Daxam, it was all jumbled. I couldn't remember what was more recent and what was farther back. Like, I remembered turning fifteen, but I also remembered being ten as if it were yesterday." he shakes his head. "I didn't know how to describe it, but it was very confusing. So if I came across as childish--that's why."

Black Queen has posed:
"Oh, do not worry about that." Selene mentions before she offers, "Who did you go to to help with your memories? Did you end up needing a psychic?" Selene is interested as she orders the potstickers for Mon-el and some alcoholic drink for herself. And then she nods her head, "It must of been strange. Being a psychic, like I had mentioned, is a little like that. I sometimes get confused between my thoughts and those of others, so people who 'think hard' can sometimes influence what I am thinking if I do not pay attention."

Mon-El has posed:
"SHIELD." Lar answers the question about who he went to for help. "They were best equipped for the job." And best equipped to have the tools to take him down if it were ever necessary. But he doesn't mention that part to her. At least not out loud--but if she were probing, she might hear it. "Wasn't the most pleasant experience, but I didn't expect it to be."

He listens to her admission about getting confused between her own thoughts and that of others'. "Oh?" he seems interested. "So, do you involuntarily pick up on what other people are thinking, even without trying to dig in? I mean, I imagine you have some control over your telepathy?"

Black Queen has posed:
"SHIELD?" Selene wonders a moment, and then quirks her mouth a bit as the potstickers arrive for Mon-El and her wine arrives for her. She picks it up and swooshes it around a moment before taking a bit of a sip. With your question she offers, "Well, control is one thing. These places that teach telepaths, those that teach them at all, teach them to hum or sing to themselves, to fill their crowded minds with internal crowds."

"I think that the training is the problem. You should just learn to figure out which voice is yours, otherwise you will just be drowning out your own thoughts as well as others." With another sip of her wine she asks, "What did they end up doing to you? Some kind of brain surgery?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar peers down at the potstickers as they are set down in front of him, nodding briefly in thanks to the waitress. He quirks a brow at her criticism of the usual telepathic training methods. "And I suppose that means you've mastered it yourself?" It's a genuine question, though he is trying to determine if she is purposefully trying to steer the conversation away from specifics regarding just how good -she- is at it. Which also seemed to happen last time when he'd asked. Vague answers, and the like.

He picks up one of the potsickers with a fork and eats half of it, nodding at the question about some kind of brain surgery. "Mhm...you could say that, yeah."

Black Queen has posed:
Sipping more of her wine, Selene asks, "So, why did you come down here? Ask for me?" Selene grins, "I was wondering if you had wanted to talk again. I did kind of enjoy your boyish charm before. Are you still with that Kara person?" With her free hand she kind of dismissively indicates, "I am not a master of psychic abilities. There are those kinds of people out there. I am more, a self-study, yes. It just means that I do not think we should crush who we are into a tiny little box just to fit some kind of mould that others have set for us." Her eyes give you a concerned look for a moment, "I thought you might believe in something similar. Freedom, independence, thoughtfulness. Not oppression, especially self-oppression."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar finishes off that potsticker he'd started in on, swallowing the bite before continuing. "Uh, yeah. I'm still with her...but um--well it's complicated." He flushes a bit, and leaves it at that.

"Hm." he nods, listening to her explanation as well as beliefs about telepathy. "Maybe. It all depends, on how one defines those things, doesn't it?" A shrug. "As for why I came asking for you....I have a friend who might possibly need your help. You're the only telepath I know on this planet, at least currently." He takes out a small round device with gold and black trim on it. "If you're willing to help, you can contact me with that."

Then he smiles and heads for the door. "Thanks for the food, by the way."
