Tinyplot: Changeling

Quake has posed:
Dinner with May and Vision had gone... poorly. They certainly weren't the pair that Skye and Clint had expected to be the difficult and ... interesting... dinner. And yet? Somehow they had turned out to be.

So it was with some trepidation that Skye and Clint invited Nat and Wade to their place for pizza and wings. Oh, and beer. Though they'd said the pair might want to bring their own if they weren't in the mood for frou-frou. At this point the couple weren't even sure if they /could/ order other beer from Gino's. The frou-frou was sort of expected, and often thrown in for free.

"So, think they're going to like what we got?" Skye was trying not to pace. Clint was on door duty.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint is much more relaxed about their guests, "I am sure they will," he says leaning against the kitchen island nursing a beer. "And besides it's not like Nat or Wade are going to phase through the ceiling on us," he offers with a cheeky grin and checks his watch. "Almost time," he says before takes a swallow of beer.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
At the appointed time, there is knock on the front door. Natasha is dressed casually in a pair of well worn jeans, a red t-shirt with a v-neck and her usual lightweight black leather jacket over the top. In her left hand is a bag with a bottle of some kind in it. Her right hand is holding another bag but this one has a six pack. Not frou frou either.

Deadpool has posed:
Wade cut a strange look. He wore a white t-shirt, which was very tight on him. The man had a great physique, save for the cancerous boils and what have you across that skin. Slung over the t-shirt, which had a crew neck, was a navy blue jumper. It was tied over his right breast, with one of the jumper's sleeves hanging down over the right side. His brown leather belt was wide, with a brass looking belt buckle. Curiously, there were no holes in the belt. It must have been one of those trendy new Anson belts. Lower down, he had sea green trousers, no socks, and two brown slip on leather loafers with tassels. Each of his wrists was partially covered, the left side by a brown leather Vincero watch, and the right with a coordinated wrist band, also in leather. His arms were bare, showing off his... less than desirable skin, but he had his mask on. And over that, he had aviator sunglasses. He carried a brown leather man purse in his right hand, and a bottle of wine in his left.

Quake has posed:
"You're kidding me, right?" Skye asks of Clint when he says at least nobody will be going through the ceiling. "Have you met Wade? How many security breaches has he caused by just popping in? Who are we afraid is going to just show up in our bedroom some night handing out pointers? That Wade?"

Of course the doorbell is rung and answered and their guests are there and she's at least spared the nerves of waiting. Though Wade gets a blink. "You.. I'm gonna guess you dressed yourself." She can't help looking at his feet. "Somehow I expected socks. Like seriously." Then the giggles start. "You look like you stepped out of a preppy magazine's ad for the Country Club. Dear god our neighbours probably hate us. Come on in guys. Pizza's already here. Beat you by five minutes."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Hmm, fair point," Clint allows of Wade before the door is got and the guests are here, Skye already took the words from his mouth and so he simply shrugs and gives a welcoming wave to Nat and says, "Here, let me get those," he says of the bottle and the bag with the beer. "Good to see you guys," greets.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
The bottle Nat is carrying happens to be a rather high priced vodka. Already chilled. The beer is one of the cheap brands that used to be a favorite of Clint's once upon a time. Slipping in the door, Nat gives them both a smile. "Good to see you back safe and sound. How was the vacation?" she asks.

Deadpool has posed:
"I am well travelled Skye, multiple techniques, special skills, and yes, I did dress myself. I would have tied my shoes, had they laces." Okay, did he hear what she and Clint had been talking about, and if that wasn't distracting enough, he seemed to be doing a snooty Hamptons like accent, as if he were hanging out with people from the Country Club. He wasn't going to do that all night, was he? Stepping in alongside Nat, he remarked, "pizza, how quaint. I do hope the Sangiovese will pair well with it."

Quake has posed:
"Sangiowhat?" Skye grins. "Don't sweat it. If we didn't like you, we wouldn't have invited you over. Or brought you things back from the trip. And yes, pizza. Because the last time I cooked things did not go over well at all."

Okay, so the grin fades with that. The cooking part had gone wonderfully well. The guesting part? Not so much. And they still didn't know what was up with Vision.

"Anyway, pull up a couch" - they have three - "and make yourself comfy. It's all casual like tonight."

As for the trip... "Uh.. it was interesting? Still trying to figure out bits of it, to tell the truth. I.. uh, well, we visited where I was born."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint grins at the drink selection, "Thanks," he mouths to Nat as he detours from the fridge to bring the drinks, plus four glasses for the vodka out to the living room for everyone to enjoy. "Yeah, it was kind of wild, there was that rescue mission in the rest of it, and then yeah, we came back and went to the place Skye came from it was, interesting," he echoes Skye's choice of words as he moves the gifts down from the shelf they were on and puts them next to the drink. Both boxes were inexpertly wrapped, which suggests Clint had that job, and there are cards on top with their names on them.

That done, he settles onto the couch. "How about you guys? Do anything fun while we were away?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
The offer of a couch is accepted. Natasha moves to sit, removing her jacket and setting it over the arm before settling down next to it. She leans forward to accept a glass from Clint, with a murmured, "Thanks." Then she pours some vodka into hers, figuring that everyone will help themselves if that is their choice of poison.

"Interesting? The way you keep using that word makes me wonder how so. I wasn't aware that's where you were born, Skye." She leaves the question of what they've been doing to Wade.

Deadpool has posed:
"Sangiovese is an Italian red, not as aromatic as pinot noir, syrah, or cabernet sauvingnon, it has a sour red cherry profile with notes of tea leaves and an earthy aroma. It's moderate alcohol content and high acidity might pair well with a pizza, though I wish this were a Sangiovese-based Chianti, but I think this one might have been better with a heavier dish, such as a thick soup, or a steak." He actually goes on for a while longer, but everyone stopped listening to him halfway through it. This must have been his fiendish plot. He was going to W.A.S.P. them to death? He must have gone rogue, or was that Sabretooth?

Sitting down on the middle of the three couches, on the left spot, Deadpool seemed to adopt the posture of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, even choosing the man's 'spot'. When Skye's origin is brought up, Deadpool chooses that moment to say, "you know, I hear that the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park's gorges are beautiful this time of year," referring to one of Hunan province's best sights. "Of course, most people go to the Window of the World theme park in Changsha." Though why did he bring that up?

Quake has posed:
Skye is not a wine afficionado. Hell, as far as she's concerned if it's alcohol.. Well, almost. She totally was against frou-frou beer, but somehow Clint convinced her otherwise, but that's a whole long story in and of itself, and while she really doesn't like it, it's what they drink, because it's them, and somehow silly is kind of what they do most of the time when they're not being spies.

"Uh..I didn't know myself until recently," Skye tells Nat, though she keeps giving Wade odd looks. Like 'how the hell did you know' kind of odd looks. "I got some information about myself --"

She stops, and gives Wade that look again. "Fine, I'll bite. How the hell did you know that? Like seriously, do you spy on us? Jesus. Do we smell like that forest or something?"

Actually, they might not, but the backpacks stuffed into the front closet might.

To avoid her surprise over the matter, she shoves each their boxes towards them. "Go on. Open them."

That's one way to avoid deep discussions, right? Pretend they don't exist.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint has a momentary dilemma, beer or vodka, beer or vodka, he opts for the vodka, but points at he beer and utters, "I'll be back," he before he pours himself a finger of the cold, slow moving liquid and takes a sip with a raise of his glass and a "Nostrovia," for Nat.

He blinks when Wade brings up the forest, "Yeah, what she said," he adds to the end of Skye's question, before he says. "And it was interesting in the way our trips used to be interesting Nat. Just fewer explosions."

When the gifts are pushed forward Clint smiles and shoots Skye an expectant look.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"What fun is that if there are no explosions," Natasha mutters with a bit of a smirk. Wade's knowledge on so many subjects still surprises her from time to time but living with him, she's a bit less shell shocked now when it happens. Their turn to learn some of the surprises he holds.

She does pick up her present, not going so far as to shake the box although she was tempted. Instead she opens it.

Deadpool has posed:
"They... are well known sights in China," Wade begins, wondering what he's supposed to know, but before he can question her further about it, and the lingering looks she had been giving him, he had a package shoved in front of him, with instructions to open it. He does give Clint a look at the reference to their 'interesting' trips, but doesn't remark, instead, he focuses on the package, carefully undoing the wrapping, as if he planned on saving the paper. He was slow at it, painfully slow, so slow that Nat would have opened hers long before he opened his. Good things come to those who wait, and he would soon discover what lay inside Clint and Skye's mystery box.

Quake has posed:
Clint gets a look. "Less explosions? Geez."

Though that kind of warrants an explanation for their guests. Nat, at least. "We broke someone out of a Hydra base for one. Uh, Marty? My uh.. my agent in training.. yeah. So. there was that. And some shit with a turf war."

Skye hesitates.

"Some rukus in the village I was born in. Just outside that forest Wade mentioned." Which might explain the looks he's been getting.

Inside Wade's box is a brown paper bag, which when he opens, is chock full of Chinese finger traps. For which he gets a sheepish grin from Skye. "We tried to think of things that sorta fit the people we knew, that maybe they couldn't get here, and you know, kinda showed them we liked them.. oh my god I can't believe I said that." Her cheeks are pink. Skye, it seems, doesn't so sentimental well.

Also in Wade's box is a Lucky Knocking Cat. A decently sized one, as it happens. A silly gift, maybe, but the pair had agreed they could picture him with it.

Nat's gift, however, is of a different sort, and has Skye sitting anxiously on the edge of her seat.

"Careful," she warns, as Nat reaches the inner layers of paper. "It's delicate. So, there's a bit of a story to go with it. I.. uh, we.. don't actually know where you two call home or go to get away from it all, but I figure there's a place. So, we thought maybe.. uh, that is, it's going to be a few years before you can enjoy your gift properly, but when you can, we thought maybe you might appreciate a bit of beauty and calm you could escape to anytime you wanted."

Inside the paper wrapping inside Nat's box is a very carefully protected cherry sapling, complete with instructions (in both Chinese, and a translated copy) on how to plant and care for the thing in its tender years in order to bring it to its best growth as an adult.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint chuckles, "Well there were some, heck you were there when we pulled Marty out of Hydra," he says to Nat of the explosions.

"Then yeah a bit of a ruckus at the village and also a thing in Hong Kong, so you know pretty standard stuff." Wade's question is noted. "Hey, sounds like you guys have plenty of interesting trips too, didn't you hand me a gun to hide last time you visited?" he asks good naturedly.

Clint moves over beside Skye, to offer moral support as she goes through the trials of sentimentality. "Anyhow, I hope you guys like them," he says putting his arm around Skye's shoulders.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"While the plant itself isn't all that impressive, Natasha is aware of what it will be someday when it grows strong and full. "It's a lovely gift. I'm not really one for a green thumb. Hopefully you are," she says to Wade, giving him a bit if a smile.

She glances to the couple hosting this little get together. "Thank you. Depending on what sort of temperatures it can deal with, we may have a few possibilities. The Deadhut might be out though."

Deadpool has posed:
Wade takes a look at the Chinese finger traps, so many of them, all colourful. Of course, Wade know the trick to them, but might just get caught in one for the fun of it. But the second gift, the lucky knocking cat, or maneki-neko, well, it's hard to say when he smiles, with the mask, but he seemed to like it, even giving it a mimed wave. "Awe, this is great, thanks guys..." though seeing Nat's gift, it chokes him up a little, and there's the sound of an inhalation of breath, the noise of him swallowing, "wow, that's incredibly thoughtful. Usually, my thumbs are black and blue, but I'm willing to give green a try... You like us, you really like us. Don't worry, I won't abuse it by doing something like, oh, I don't know, dropping down from the skylight, wait, your bedroom doesn't have a skylight, by having a skylight installed so I can drop in from it, to ask to borrow a cup of sugar or something. Hey, we could move in next door. We could be the good super people of the neighbourhood!"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint nods, taking a sip of the vodka, "The guy said that breed, strain, whatever, was pretty hardy so it should work in most temperatures including the artic wilds of Canadia," he says, with a grin, he'd been to Starling, hell him and Skye both had on a quieter and more sane vacation, he knew it wasn't that cold up there.

Clint grins at Wade's reaction, "Glad you like it and as weird as it sounds, might be kind of cool having you guys close by," he gives a look to Skye to make sure he hasn't lost his mind, before continuing. "And hey if you buy the place with the guy with the floofy dog and the inability to pick up it's poop, I'd take it as a personal favour."

Quake has posed:
When the gifts seem to be well received, Skye relaxes visibly, and reaches for the first bit of alcohol she can reach - notably the frou-frou beer. More by accident than any deliberation. "Sure we like you guys, sheesh. What made you think we didn't?"

Okay, there were all sorts of reasons why they might not, but still, they did like them.

"Do we have a skylight?" They had a canopy bed. To be brutally honest, they'd probably never looked at their ceiling. "And huh, move in? Like..." She thinks. Three doors down. A for sale sign. Probably co-incidence and nothing to do with Skye and Clint's moving into the neighbourhood. "Not sure that's the floofy dogshit place, though."
