A Healthy Diet
Date of Scene: 01 August 2018
Location: Xavier's School - Back Yard
Synopsis: A few of Xavier's folks happen upon each other in the back yard.
Cast of Characters: Mason Steele, Souvenir, Magik, Rage, Deadzone, Professor X

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason has been trying to resist. He has an image to maintain. It's dinner time, most people are eating. Mason, however, is in the back yard, right next to the edge of the cliff, probably not the best place for him to be. He wears a Dodgers jersey and a pair of gray shorts, bare feet in the dirt as he leans over the edge doing...something.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir wanders a bit. She already grabbed some food, but she just.. didn't feel like dealing with the company today for whatever reason. Probably because some jerk tapped her on the cheek with a plastic spoon. Embarrassing, or potentially so.

So she goes walking around, and tilts her head at the sight of somebody sitting on the edge of a ledge. She drifts that way mildly, making her way and nibbling a hastily made wrap, not saying anything. She's not actually sneaky, but she's not being noisy either.

Magik has posed:
Illyana Rasputin is not eating. It also helps that she isn't most people, either. Instead of feeding her face with whatever the mansion staff has prepared for the mansion, the Russian is floating Indian style in the woods. There are no bells and whistles, nor pomp and circumstance, when it comes to this feat. Simply, she is meditating currently.

At least five feet from the ground, Illyana hovers with her fingers intertwined and her mind clear. In all actuality, she isn't even there because of her ability to astral project. In another city, she works on her sorceress resolve and endurance on Midgard. Unlike Limbo, where Illyana rules the dimension as its Sorceress Supreme, Earth is limiting to say the least.

A small nag dances in the back of her mind, as she observes a mystic dancer in Sunnydale from the astral plane. Psionically turning in the direction of her body from hundreds of miles away, Illyana closes her eyes and a rush of life hits her. Opening her eyes, she sees two students from Xavier's School nearby. She regards them for a second, choosing not to engage yet.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason pulls on a piece of the edge, a chunk of rock pulling free, and he takes a bite out of it as if it were a candy bar. It crunches loudly, and he seems to not notice anyone else for several seconds. He closes his eyes, as if it were the most delicious thing he's ever eaten.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir tilts her head. Huh, that's odd. But, well.. She just had to leave lunch because of odd. She roams a bit closer and sits down on the edge of the ledge, looking out over the lake below.

She waves. "Yeah, I couldn't deal with the lunch crowd either." and sits quietly, munching her food. Not totally sure what to say. I mean, what do you say when you're both the weirdos of the weird already?

Rage has posed:
Out on a run on four legs instead of two is Rage as a black wolf bounds through the large yard. Blending in well with the night, her heightened ears prick at the sound of a voice in the distance, as well as the scents of those she knows. Having caught one in particular, she turns and heads in that direction, bounding with her stride.

Magik has posed:
You say nothing! You stay as quiet as you can when you are the weirdest of the weird because Illyana is meditating. Or, she was trying to meditate, but the presence of the students and the female's voice were a distraction. Still floating, Illyana releases a breath and tries to resume her meditative state. And then, she feels another presence nearby but stays quiet.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum comes from the gardens. The Home Ec teacher has stayed mostly to herself since the school year finished in May, tending the gardens for the fruits and vegetables that will be used come the new semester. Her hair is done up in victory rolls, she wears 1940's dungarees and sneakers. She looks around to see who is around, but says nothing.

Professor X has posed:
Wheeling up to the group mainly to investigate the backyard of his grounds and to marvel at it's beauty, Charles Xavier also encounters the group of students and teachers alike. Though he notices Tatum and Illyana practically immediately, he mostly looks upon Mason and Erika. "Hello you two. I hope the day is well?" he asks with a curiosity to his tone as he wheels up to his students.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason opens his eyes to see Erika sitting on the ledge nearby, and drops the rock immediately. He turns around, and spits it out so that she can't see. Did she already see that he was eating a rock? He turns to face out as if he was being contemplative when he hears the Professor. He gets up as if he had done something wrong, and turns around.

"Oh, hi Professor," he says, dusting his shorts off, "How are ya?" Is that...dirt around the left side of his face? Yeah, it's dirt.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir looks over. "Hey Professor. I'm doing okay. I mean, no new news really. Somebody tapped me in the face with a spoon and I noped my way out here. We're just eating out where it's quieter, y'know?" She waves the sandwich she threw together from dinner ingredients in explanation.

She waves at the sudden gathering crowd. "Heya everybody." Yeah. She totally saw. She idly peels off one of the napkins in her hand and offers it over to Mason backhandedly, then casually rubs the side of her face with her gloved hand.

Rage has posed:
The wolf picks up speed in the distance, becoming a bit of a blur through the night before she finally comes into view. She slides to a stop along the moist grass, followed by a happy chuff to see her friends and Professor. Her tail wags happily behind her as she high steps towards Erika and Mason.

Magik has posed:
"God damnit!" Illyana yells, finally deciding to no longer stay quiet.

Unbothered by her curse word, she uncrosses her legs as she hovers, feet finally touching the ground as she releases the mystic energy surrounding her. Her face is less than pleased, walking with a huff in the direction of the small gathering. She considers all of them for a moment.

"Why? Why now, of all the times to be in the woods?"

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum looks over at each of the people assembled. She's also on the dirty side, but then again, she's been working in the gardens. It's to be expected. She smiles, a quirky, lop-sided grin that has come to be known around the mansion that she's thinking up mischief. Again. If she said half the things she thought of, she'd be kicked out of the school for lechery.

"Because it's inconvenient to you, Illy. You should know by now that you aren't allowed to have a moment of peace."

Professor X has posed:
The Professor looks to Illyana. "Because I always enjoy seeing the woods, young Rasputin." he gives her a small smile. "Haven't I often told you how you let your surroundings bother you far too much?" he winks at the young woman, wheeling himself over to her. "Sit, relax, enjoy the company of others?" he asks her in his lovely grandfatherly way.

Though he eventually looks to the wolf as she walks up to the group, and he recognizes her immediately. the mind is impossibly familiar. "Ah, hello there young lady. It's good to see you again." eyes shift to Mason. "Hello Mr. Steel. I am well, thank you for asking. How are you? Enjoying the school still?" he asks curiously.

Theeen eyes fall upon Erika. "I see. Well, I hope I haven't disturbed your eating too badly, I simply wished to enjoy conversation and enjoy the great outdoors."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs, and shakes her head vigorously, "Oh no, conversation is great, I just didn't feel like having somebody trying to poke me in the face to get me to make funny faces. It's kind of embarrassing.."

She frowns and stares at the ground a bit, fidgeting awkwardly. She doesn't actually know what that looks like, but she has some ideas. They are not good ideas. Expressive, heavily black-lined eyes get covered by hair as she fidgets a bit.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason looks down as the napkin is passed in front of him, and he takes it absently, looking at Erika quizzically, then wiping his face, finding the dirt and removing it.

"Uh, yeah, Prof, just spending some chill time before I work on my concert for tomorrow," he says. "Just watching the..." he glances over at the ledge, what was over there? "Lake."

He catches sight of Andrea's arrival, and wipes his mouth again for good measure.

Magik has posed:
"I see you are as annoying as ever," Illyana offers Tatum. It is friendly-fire. It has been months, after all, since the blonde Russian has been seen walking through the mansion's hallways. Tatum could probably see that something is different about Illyana, darker even.

Meeting the Professor X's gaze, Illyana stretches her arms outward when he speaks. Unlike most other students that grew timid around the man, Illyana is a different sort - a more confident sort - because she knows that he cannot breach her mind. How odd, that a small farm girl can resist the most powerful telepath on the planet. Darkchilde silently wonders how.

"I don't have time to sit and relax," Illyana lies, folding her arms.

Deadzone has posed:
With no one paying her any attention, Tatum just smiles and watches the crowd. She leans against a rock, keeping her distance. Listening. Watching. Her brow quirks with interest at the mention of a concert.

She winks to Illyana, noting the darkness in the woman that was one of her closest friends on her world. Is it possible that this world's version of Illyana has started along a similar path? Should she do something about it? Or would that go against her code of non-intervention in this world-lines truths.

"If I wasn't annoying, or flirting, how would you be sure it was me?"

Professor X has posed:
The Professor looks at Erika with a small smile before his eyes shift ot Mason. "Oh? You have a concert? How exciting. I trust you are confident in your preparations?" he asks. "Let me know if you need a helping hand. I know more than a few people who are excellent with pep talks." Then he looks to Illyana.

Well...he might not be able to breach her mind on the average day, but maybe he might be able to break through if he was truthfully trying to fight her. But alas, this old fellow doesn't have the heart for such things and Illyana is such a lovely person. "Of course you do." Charles smiles to her. Read her mind? Unneeded. Charles has lived long enough to see through a lie. Regardless, he looks then to Tatum, smiling to her a bit. "We likely wouldn't." he teases the young woman.

Mason Steele has posed:
"Yeah," Mason agrees. "I got it. I've been at it for a while." He still looks uncomfortable, and then glances back to Erika. Did she see? He's not certain. "Um, I should probably get to that, then," he says. "Not to just greet and run, but...I gotta put on finishing touches." He shrugs, and starts walking back inside.

    Just another evening at Xavier's.

Magik has posed:
Illyana rolls her eyes at both Charles and Tatum. A pool of golden light forms behind her, opening a portal from Midgard to Limbo. Without saying much more, Illyana enters the other dimension to get some peace and quiet. The light dims and the portal closes shortly afterwards.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum winks over to the Professor, as irreverant with him as always. She's another person that the Professor would have a difficult time getting into the head of. Maybe that's the similarity in the people that treat Charles like he's just another person, they aren't worried about him getting into their head.

"See," she tells them. "I annoy because I care. Because if I didn't, you would all worry I was a clone, or a robot, or some other fancy replacement." Like that hasn't happened to the X-Men more then enough times in the last few years. Illyana leaves without so much as a goodbye, causing the home ec teacher to laugh. "Well, some things never change, no matter what reality your in."

Professor X has posed:
Charles takes a breath then, before he seems to smile. "Well, sometimes that's a good thing." before he looks to Mason. "Farewell, young Mason. and good luck with your concert. We're rooting for you!" then Charles starts to wheel away, though everyone gets a smile. he pulls out his phone though, so clearly he's having a conversation. Either way, distracted Professor is distracted.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods at Mason. "Okay. Uhhh." She frowns and debates on going up to check on him later. Wait, she's not even sure if she can, where is Mason even staying? Ugh. "You take care of yourself, okay dude?"
