Black Queen has posed:
In Manhattan there's a mysterious location that lots of people have heard about, well, those with their ear to the ground on weird and eerie happenings. The owner of the shop is a squat old man who has seemingly been a fixture inside the shop since the 50s, no one knows exactly how old he is, but he looks just as old in the black and white photos on the walls meeting all sorts of celebrities, as he does today sitting behind the counter smoking a pipe.

In contrast to the old man is a woman, looking to be in her early 20s, and she's picking up an urn right now and checking it out. Looking at the base, opening it up, turning it about in her hands. There is a sign that says, 'Do not touch merchandise' next to items, but apparently the old man doesn't enforce the rule. Or at least not against skirted young attractive women like Selene. That said, she's rather involved in the inspection of said Urn. The entire place is filled with antiques ranging from victorian era to ming dynasty, and even further back to ancient egyptian level of jewelry. For the discerning eye, the urn looks to be something of Babylonian origins.

Ash Williams has posed:
Like a bull in a china shop, enter Ash Williams. Some might recognise him from old english frescos, with the distinctive chin he carries with pride, but mostly, he just looks like an aging American who is fighting like hell against the tides of aging. In a relatively chinese-looking artificial hand, he holds a duffel bag, which dramatically slams into a table as he turns around to close the door, causing the valuable, ancient items on it to jingle. Momentarily shocked, he holds up a hand to the proprietor. "Sorry about that, pops." He notes. Deciding for now to leave the bag by the door.

His demeanour is almost as clumsy, though, as he makes his way to the counter to the aged host, and comments off-hand. "Hey there. I'm looking for a book. Old, bound in human flesh. Contains a whole bunch of unreadable writing that makes demons want to do a bunch of stuff to normal people." His gaze wanders around the shop, and catches on Selene for a moment. "--Hang on. Who's the fox?" A gesture at the younger woman. Because unlike some, he has priorities.

Black Queen has posed:
Noise. Imbecile. Selene kind of glances over at the door when the gentleman walks inside. She's about to dismiss him completely till he walks past her, and she tilts her head a little. She might not 'sniff' him out, but he's certainly been touched by demons. Dead things. And has... touched a very powerful magical artifact, the likes of which Selene herself has rarely seen, but leave a mark on everyone who is touched. That draws some curiosity, so she settles the urn she was looking at on the shelf it came from. As the old man at the counter is pulling out a pipe from his mouth to speak to Ash, and then glances over to Selene as well, when Ash changes his focus. The old store clerk just re-settles the pipe in his mouth and puffs a few times.

"Oh, me?" Selene asks, and puts her hand on her jacketed chest, chuckling likely, "Selene. And I do so enjoy Antiques. You have curious taste in objects. Human flesh covered book?" There's a little shake of her head, and a more curving smile as she starts to move toward the clumsy man, "Are you seriously looking for the Necronomicon? I heard that was a myth. I mean, seriously, a book that can summon demons, undead, and unleash a world of utter destruction. Sounds absolutely absurd..."

Ash Williams has posed:
"Not just can. Did. More'n once too." Ash responds to the claims of the Necronomicon's powers. "Truth be told I'm runnin' out of copies of it to destroy. Lately there's been more in the way of deadites than I'm comfortable with roaming around, and so I'm thinking there's another copy of that creepy damn book that's made it's way somewhere into..." Think, Ash. Think. Everyone who knows about the necronomicon is normally... Well, not her though. She's chesty and smiling.

The internal battle rages within Ash for a moment. His fading out is caught up again. "Hey, the book of the dead isn't something such a pretty girl to spend her time worrying about. Anything demonic comes up out of the ground, I'll be here to protect ya. So, what's someone as filthy an fabulous as you doing somewhere so rundown and outdated?" Says someone rundown and outdated.

Black Queen has posed:
The woman listens, as Ash jabbers on about the book and about Deadites, and she squints her eyes at that, "Deadites?" She questions a little and grimaces, "Is that some... one of those games played on electronic screens, reference? Are you some kind of 'gamer'?" Asks the wealthy socialite who apparently does not have video game in her vocabulary, or might just refuse to use it. With that she mentions, while looking around, "Is this one of those, real life interactive games you are playing? Perhaps something where you are in a kind of elaborate scavenger hunt? You do not seem the exact ... demographic, that I would guess at such a thing." Then she's chuckling, "But you never know, people play games of all ages. Right?"

And then there's the talk about protecting her and mentioning demonic things coming from the ground. Selene just nods her head a little, "Well, I am so glad that you are here, then. If there -is- a demon, or deadite, or whatever you call them, about. Then I am sure I am safe since you..." A pause, as she gets complimented in a weird way, "Well, thank you. I specialize in antiques. Old things, rare things, and so I am fascinated by myths. They often have a lingering amount of truth. You say you've touched multiple copies of the Necronomicon? Where was the last time you were around it? Was it here in New York?"

Ash Williams has posed:
"Video games? You mean one of those Nintendas? No, I don't have time for that." Ash manages, with a gesture of his Power-Glove-esque hand. "A deadite is something or somethings that's possessed by the Kandarian demon. I don't get much time to play games, it turns out that this hero stuff is even more than a full-time job." And wouldn't it be nice to just go back and work for S-Mart?

"I wouldn't call myself Old," Most people would, "But I'm certainly rare. Yeah, I've touched the Necronomicon a bunch of times. Had one, burned it. Went back through time to get another one, which the Dark Ones eventually got, so that wasn't great, but--" And then the click. Sudden, and clunking inside his head. "You're /way/ too OK with what I'm saying to you. Doesn't that seem kind of weird?"

Black Queen has posed:
"Nintenda?" Selene questions a bit and hrms and shakes her head, "Yeah, I have no time as well to waste on... -that-." She states it like Nintenda is some kind of disgusting thing, and then she listens a bit more. "Are you -sure- they are called deadites? That just seems, very on the nose." And the conversation about the Kandarian demon, "Ah, yes. Kandarian Demon, that sounds so much more... well, accurate."

As the conversation shifts a bit to the Necronomicon again, she smiles, "You burned it? That probably did not... wait, you went back in time to get another one?" She questions and then there's a mention of Dark Ones. Well, shoot, that could really apply to absolutely anyone. Couldn't it? And then Ash picks up on the lack of concern or oddness Selene is responding with and she chuckles, "I am just playing along with your game of fantasy really. I have always felt that you have to treat your elders with respect. It does not seem weird at all, when you deal with antiques you realize that lots of stories sound crazy, but a bit of truth is in each one of them. So then, where exactly did you find these books? Hmm?

Ash Williams has posed:
"I dunno, Lady," Ash seems to have seized on a touch of doubt. And much as he'd like to get closer to this woman, he seems to have at some level realised something. "I've had my fair share of crazies in my time, and you're not making a great case for not being one of 'em." A slow step back, "See, this kind of thing goes one of two ways. Either at some point you're some not-friendly type who wants to rip my face off and take the Book, /or/, you're quietly thinking I'm crazy and I'll spend a week talking myself out of a room with padded walls, which won't matter because sooner or later I'll be busted out or everyone there ends up dying mysteriously."

A soft chuckle though. "Although one time, she was both. Crazy hot though. So, uh... I think I might take my bag and go. Since I've been saying /alot/ of things that sound crazy."

Black Queen has posed:
Selene Gallio eyes at Ash and then shrugs, raising up her hands, "You can go. I am... I mean, look at me." She offers, "I could not rip off a face if I wanted to..." She then takes in a breath though and lets it out slowly. "You stay safe out there, against those... deadites? Hopefully it all goes well." And Selene is going to let Ash back up, grab his bag and leave if he wants to, though if he does leave. Selene's going to summon up a little shadow imp to follow after Ash, and keep tabs on him. This necronomicon is something of power, and Selene definitely wants power.
