Cast of Characters: Green Lantern (Jordan), Supergirl, Flash

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
It was another day in space, hovering 22300 miles above the Earth in the Watchtower Justice League Satellite. It was quiet this time of day, with the only sounds coming out of the Mission Monitor Room. The lights were on, keeping everything well lit in here. After all, who knows when Batman might jump out at you from the shadows with a snide remark? So Barry and Hal make sure the lights are on full. No worries though, the power supply would last eons.

Hal Jordan was currently in his uniform, that of the Green Lantern Corps, sans mask. His eyes were scanning the consoles thoroughly, knowing how important it was. In his right hand was a cup of coffee, and he raises it slowly to his lips, taking a small sip. The steam wafting from this cup reveals why, as it is more than likely very hot, and so, freshly poured. It was another day in the Mission Monitor Room, and it was Hal's turn.

Supergirl has posed:
The invitation had been extended but things hadn't quite worked out for her to get there sooner. First there was her birthday, which was spent with her sister Alex, as was their tradition since her arrival on Earth and placement with the Danvers family. Then she spent the next afternoon on a date night to celebrate. Then there was the supervillain in the panda suit who had no martial arts skills yet had dubbed himself the Kung Fu Panda and was trying to rob a jewelry store. It wasn't one she was going to be putting in her scrapbook of battling villainy. If she had a scrapbook on such a thing. Which she didn't cause that would be silly.

Supergirl has managed to make it to the Watchtower though their port technology thanks to the help of the Green Lantern on duty.

She headed toward the Monitor Room with a large, pink cardboard box in one hand and a drink carrier in the other, with four to-go hot cups.

"I brought donuts! Coffee too. Well three. I wasn't sure who might be here. But the one with the SG on top is mine cause it's chai tea cause I don't know how people drink that coffee stuff. So bitter." She gives her brightest smile. "Oh. And Hi!"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan turns at the commotion coming down the hall, and smiles when he sees who it is. "Hi Supergirl!" Hal says, with a warm laugh. "It's good to see you. And bearing gifts!" Hal takes his cup, and puts it over on the side shelf near the pot. He then turns, grabs one of the cups from Kara's four, not the tea one, and raises it in salute.

"Very thoughtful! Thank you!" Hal grins, and takes a sip of the coffee. "Nice." Much better than the J'onn brewed stuff I just had. Thank you." Hal nods, and waits for her to settle in a bit, before saying, "Welcome to the Watchtower!

Supergirl has posed:
There happens to be a second chair there. Apparently they like to socialize when on Monitor Duty. Or maybe it takes two sometimes to keep up with all the events going on in down there on the pretty planet spinning below. "Thanks! I've seen it from the outside but hadn't gotten to come inside. I thought about knocking but then realized that might not be the right way to go about things." Might be a little weird having someone floating in space knocking on the hull. Not that she's never done that before. Ask the Asgardians. Although she didn't knock, just went to a window and waved. Anyway!

The last coffee is left on the counter in the little carrier. She pulls over her chai tea then snitches a chocolate frosted donut out of the box before looking at the monitors then to Hal. "So you all sit here and stare at the screens all day? That seems...dull."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal JOrdan takes another sip, and waves towards the computers in the room. "Yeah. We keep an eye on everything up here. It can be dull, you are right. Most of the time. We also have assistance from the Avengers, Alpha Flight, and SHIELD. Glad you found the door though. Last time someone came knocking, it was quite a battle on our hands!"

Hal moves over to look at something for a moment, and when he notes it is nothing, he returns his attention to Kara. "I'm glad you could join us though. I've been wanting to ask you if you would like to join the team. Superman speaks highly of you, and it is always good to have a backup Kryptonian around, just in case! Are you interested?" Hal says, looking over the mug of coffee as he takes another drink.

Supergirl has posed:
"Wow! Really?" Supergirl's smile is as bright as the yellow sun that gives her kind their superhuman abilities. "That would be amazing! But I'm still in school. So that has to come first. I'm also with Alpha Flight although really I'm Gamma Flight cause I'm too young. Even though I just turned 18! Maybe they'll move me up to the first string!"

She realizes she's babbling a little and focuses back on Hal. Her smile doesn't waver but she adopts a much more serious tone of voice. "I would be honored to join the Justice League. I'll do my best to make you proud." Then the somber is gone as she almost bounces in her seat. "Is there like an oath or something? Cause I could totally do an oath!"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan nods, laughs and says, "Of course! Oh, yes, school. Always comes first. I understand. We'll have a team of reserves that you could anchor, so if any of the big guns go down, we can call you up. And as things progress, we can slot you full time. As for the Alpha Flight thing, that is fine actually. We have good relations with them, so we can share you." Hal smiles.

Moving over to the console, Hal looks over his shoulder, and adds, "You have already made us proud Supergirl, which is why we wanted you to join us. We're impressed with you." Hal pauses, and shakes his head, "No, no oath. I'm surprised Batman hasn't come up with something like that."

Tapping a few things into the console, Hal makes it official. "There. Welcome to the team. You have access to all our facilities, the Watchtower, and can access our transportation system for ease of getting up here. You can try a few mission monitor duties as the second, learn from us as we do the job, and then take your own turn when you are ready." Hal turns back to Supergirl. "Done."

Flash has posed:
"Pretty sure there was a ceremonial oath when we first formed up, something very touching and heartfelt," Flash teases, in his usual method of arriving without much warning. There was SOME warning, since the watchtower monitors which heroes travel to and from it, but with Flash's timetable and his access, it isn't like he sets off alarms. It would be a LOT of alarms with the number of trips he makes each day. To some extent, that's a way to be sure those notifications did get shut off: tripping them constantly until nobody watched it anymore.

"Hi Supergirl," Flash adds brightly, offering her a congratulatory handshake. "New blood is very welcome."

Supergirl has posed:
Super hearing is a good thing. Supergirl didn't jump out of her skin when Flash basically appeared in the room, having heard his passage an instant before his arrival. She still jumped, just not as badly as she might have. Her donut is clutched protectively in her left hand but she puts down the chai tea to accept the handshake with her right. "Thanks, Flash! You really should have an oath." She looks over at Hal as she says it. "No paperwork or anything? Wait, that makes sense. After all, we have secret identities so it would be hard to just sign stuff with codenames and make it stick. And what would it say anyway? "I am hereby willing to die to help people." Hrm."

Supergirl tilts her head to the side a moment. "That's actually pretty good. Maybe that should be the oath. Just that." Then she gets serious again as she focuses on the stuff. "So like on-the-job training? I can shadow you guys in your day-to-day and learn the ropes! That'll be fun!"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan chuckles and shrugs. "Maybe there was. Not sure if we need to do that though Flash. After all, she's HIS cousin. I'm sure it is fine." Hal watches as Flash arrives. "Supergirl was nice enough to bring coffee and some pastries. Try not to eat them all." Hal regards his friend with a fake glare.

Looking back at Supergirl, and says, "Exactly. I expect that anyone who gets to this point is someone we can trust. At least I hope so. There have been exceptions..." Hal trails off and shrugs. "Yeah, day to day, OJT works for me! As you can see, The Flash is up next." Hal grins as he lays that on Flash, "SO you can hang out with him. Bringing pastries was the way to his heart, so he'll go easy on you."

Flash has posed:
Flash was already eating that extra donut. Grabbing it and biting was fast, but he chews it slowly, and not very innocently overall, as he's instructed to not eat them all. "It's just one. Had to measure my level of approval somehow," Flash answers Hal with a wrinkle of nose that bends his red masks' nose-bridge just a little.

Flash raises his brows as he's pretty much offloaded with the new person. "Heeeeey," he mock-complains, jabbing a finger in the air at Hal, but relents almost immediately to Supergirl with a smile, "It's fine, happy to show you around or train you on systems," the hero says kindly. In truth, he is one of the better ones to be given the training duty; he genuinely does like working with younger heroes. "With food payment, of course."

Supergirl has posed:
"If you want to know food joints, I'm your gal," Supergirl says. It's kind of a running joke in her family. Something that Alex is a tad jealous of probably. Kara tends to eat like a horse but never gain a pound. "I can show you a place in China that makes the best potstickers on the planet. Literally. Second best is in Chinatown in New York," she adds helpfully. Because really, potstickers are the food of the gods as far as she's concerned. Pizza is a close second.

"Well, I'm out of class for the day and nothing scheduled until later tonight so I can start right now! Y'know if that's okay?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Smiling at Flash, and then back at Supergirl, Hal Jordan says, "Perfect. That is okay." Hal chuckles. "Thanks for volunteering Flash. You are always better at these teaching moment things than I am." Looking at Supergirl, Hal adds, "Thank you and welcome aboard, we are extremely happy to have you." Hal looks into the hallway, and frowns. "Now, I have to run, which sucks, but if you need anything, just give me a shout and I'll be there."

Teh green nimbus of energy that comes out of his ring and surrounds Hal, also lifts him into the air. "Flash, she's all yours. Supergirl, I will see you soon!" With that Hal salutes, turns, and heads towards the teleporter with a slight green flash of energy.

Flash has posed:
With a soft laugh, Flash lifts his hands a little, "Yes, I CAN go fetch food. That's never been an issue. More a problem with the language overseas. I don't speak Mandarin, but I'm decent at pointing at things," he says, adding another point at Hal Jordan for good measure, much as he'd pointed before more accusingly. "But when on duty in the watchtower, not so good an idea to go sprinting off for snacks. That's where young trainees come in, and can bring the goodies," Flash winks.

After Hal disappears, Flash confides in mock serious tone, "Call him early if you can, he's not as quick as some of us." A smile twitches and he gestures to the console. "So, did he start at all here, or do we get you set up?" Flash asks, moving to the console and typing on it in hyper speed: just as fast as the console can keep up with him.

Supergirl has posed:
"He said I'm in the computer now and I can access the teleporter and all that stuff. That's about it. I'm a quick study though," Supergirl can't help but giggle when she realizes what she said and who she said it to. The irony is not lost on her. "I mean, I learn things fa-- There is just no way to avoid this sounding silly considering you being /you/. You get the idea. I do wonder if I'd be faster getting food than you are though. We'll have to find out someday."

There is a mischevious sparkle in her eyes as she says that. "I'll even teach you how to order the dish in Mandarin so you don't have to waste time pointing."

Flash has posed:
"What languages do you speak?" Flash asks, curious, conversational. He doesn't talk rapidly, there's no rushing to him: he moderates his speed almost all of the time to be comfortable to other people. When he's thinking fast, though, there is a slight clipped quality to sentences, given short and to the point. "Interacting with vendors is never a 'waste'. I don't much like drive-throughs either. I like to talk to the person making the food. Usually they want to talk to me. It's not always about what's fastest or most efficient. Shouldn't be. Not all just powers. There's a human part." Flash gives her a sideways smile, pausing to let the console do the various orders he put into it.
"Kinda that part that is WHY we're doing what we do. Sure, sometimes we're in a big hurry because the world is melting, but when there's time, I want to take that time. Did I break your assumption about me?" he asks, cheeky. "I teach more than just console commands," Flash says, mocking himself a little, but shrugs both shoulders. "So, anyway, here: there's toggles of priority of emergency by zone," Flash says, switching to a patient, instructional tone, and showing her as he goes through them.
