Synopsis: Daredevil delivers a hacker to SHIELD to fufill a promise and begin the war against the Hand. May strikes a deal with the Devil and Skye picks up a new roommate.
Cast of Characters: Daredevil, Melinda May, Quake
Tinyplot: Black Sky

Daredevil has posed:
Daredevil had left Kate and Claire back at the clinic and took Genus the rest of the way to the Triskelion himself. Honestly, it was the last place the Devil of Hell's Kitchen wanted to be, as much as he trusted certain SHIELD agents he didn't trust the organization a whole after the Index hit the net with some of his friends on it. Still, he had a job to do tonight, get Genus to SHIELD and in doing so give the spy organization all they'd need to take the fight to the Hand, and that was worth the risk.

Approaching the gate to the Trisk in a mask is good way to get a reaction from the guards, and Daredevil and Genus raise their hands when the guards draw their weapons, Daredevil calling out "I need to speak to Skye Johnson,."

A short time later Daredevil and Genus are ushered into a meeting room and a call goes out to both the Deputy Director and Agent Johnson about the surprise visitors in SHIELD custody.

Melinda May has posed:
Central Command is never not busy. But when a masked vigilante and associate appear at the gates and ask to speak with her, Acting Deput Director May can't help but notice. She has them sent to the meeting room then heads there herself after making sure Skye was notified as well.

No more than five minutes after they're seen to the room, the doors open again and May enters with near-silent footsteps, though there's no way she'd be too quiet for the red-masked man to hear. Just the faint shifting of the objects pocketed in her jacket would likely give her away.

Now they're just waiting for Skye.

Quake has posed:
Skye is still hip deep in wallowing in.. well, it's not quite self-pity at this point, but it's close enough to be nigh on indistinguishable. Still, she knows the guests in question (she asked) and she's really got no reason to sit in her quarters and avoid this. Even if technically she should be on some sort of leave, or at least modified duty.

Then again, this is Skye. Crawling the walls and going batshit crazy about the pace she keeps if she's not got her fingers in something poking around. It was, after all, why she'd only lost her access to sign herself out, and not for anything else.

Besides, Clint would kick her butt if she refused.

So down to greet the visitors she goes.

Daredevil has posed:
Genus takes a seat, once again anxious to get off his newly bandaged feet.

"You should totally get a car like the guy in Gotham," he opines to Daredevil.

There's is a slight quirk of the vigilante's lips as he answers. "I don't drive."

Then May enters and Daredevil's attention peaks, he'd seen the woman before at Josie's for pool night. Not that introductions had been made, and even if they had been she'd met Matt Murdock, not his red suited alter ego.

"Good evening, is Agent Johnson joining us? he asks, May. Skipping the introductions.

Genus has for his part just waves. "Yeah, I really need to talk to Skye."

Melinda May has posed:
"Agent Johnson is on her way." Her eyes study Genus then Daredevil with the sharpness of someone long-since trained to visually identify enemy combatants. She's not sure she likes what she sees in the red-clad man. "Please, have a seat."

Her words are polite enough, but the tone makes it clear that she's accustomed to being heeded. Even so, she herself remains standing, only shifting her weight in a manner that only those very well trained in martial arts would recognize as her preparing for a potential fight.

Quake has posed:
Skye arrives, looking pained. Some of it is her sullen 'I am not happy right now' and some of it is the fact that even though she's managing to keep herself calm (for some greater value of calm) and collected, things are still all too bright and all too loud right now and it's all very jarring and uncomfortable. She really would rather be curled up underneath her blankets in bed in her artificially darkened room. Even if that's a contradiction to the fact that the girl goes stir crazy if she's not doing something.

Just because she's constitutionally incapable of taking a vacation doesn't mean she also doesn't want to mope about the current state of affairs in her life.

Of course, there's Matt and Genus to consider, and Assistant Director May, who are all already in the room when she arrives.

"Sorry. Things." Her explaination as to why she's late isn't all that forthcoming. But she does manage to give a half-assed almost smile to Genus. "So you didn't fall off the planet. Nice to see you're alive. Next time you key code a data stick to yourself, care to make it easier to find you?"

Daredevil has posed:
Daredevil offers a tight, smile that might be an apology, "I prefer to stand," he says, Like May he's tensed and ready, and by his stance, he's not without skill either. Definitely something backed up by the reports out of Hell's Kitchen. Still, there's something in how he holds himself that suggests he's nervous as if he expects a tac team to burst through the door any minute and take him into custody.

Genus for his part seems to note the tension in the room and keeps his head down until Skye arrives. "Sorry, didn't know the scary ninja lady was going to pull the pin on this," he says, then he gives it a moment's thought. "Actually, probably wouldn't have cared, I was wigging out DS. It's been a rough year."

It looks it, Genus is skinnier, paler and more tired than Skye has ever seen him.

For his part, Daredevil gives Skye a nod. "Agent Johnson."

Melinda May has posed:
Okay then. May just watches Daredevil silently until Skye arrives and starts talking with Genus. And now that she has an idea who this is and what it's about, she puts one hand to her ear and murmurs a command to Ops, then focuses her attention back on the others in the room.
While she's not looking directly at the Hell's Kitchen vigilante, the majority of her attention is actually on him. Genus is Skye's to worry about.

Quake has posed:
When it's 'Agent Johnson' and not Skye.. and Daredevil, and not Matt Murdock, Skye is quick to settle into the cover. "So, do we all know each other here?" She's not assuming so. "So.. tall and masked over there is the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Dragged into this mess by virtue of the late Elektra Natchios."

Yeah, Skye's heard about that now. And even if she hadn't, moping Darcy would be reason enough to have found out about that by now.

"Complaining about his life choices and looking like he's not eaten a proper hot meal in weeks" (she's aware of the irony given her prior penchant for cup'o'ramen as a balanced meal plan) "is Victor Ivanov, codename Genus. Dragged into this mess by virtue of being counter-intelligence for the late Elektra Natchios, otherwise known as the leader of the Hand." She gives Genus a look. "Don't sweat it. It wasn't your fault. And we can talk about things later on the it's been a rough year front. You don't know the half of it."

Then she nods to May. "And this is Assistant Directory, pro tempore - yes, I do too know that word and what it means. Anything anybody says or does in this room is confidential. Yada yada. Did I miss anything?"

Daredevil has posed:
*Send down an isolated laptop and the data stick recovered by Agent Johnson. *

*Agent Sanchez is en route, Agent May.*

Daredevil hears the quiet comm chatter and a small defiant part of himself wanted to speak up and say, 'if Agent Sanchez could bring us some coffee that'd be great' but he holds off, barely, the thought leading nothing more than a faint smile, the sort Skye would recognize from the orphanage when Matt was about to be assigned yet more Hail Marys for doing something dumb.

Daredevil behaves and gives May a nod at the introduction. "Deputy Director," he greets before adding. "Daredevil or Red works too," he says. His other moniker was a bit of a mouthful. Then to Skye he asks wryly, "That's latin right?"

"Hey I was living in a tunnel., I mean I got power, but it's not like they had a McDonalds down there," Genus grouses good naturedly looking down at himself. "Though if you guys have a sandwich I'd be all over that."

As to Skye missing anything. "Uh, only thing I can think of is what happens to me? They sent actual, honest to god ninjas after me. I need somewhere better than a tunnel to hide."

Melinda May has posed:
May nods to Daredevil and to Genus as Skye bothers with introductions, though her eyes linger on the former again for a moment longer than would be usual for her. Then the grousing gets her to again speak very quietly into her comms, though this time it's clear that she's putting in a request for food and beverages.

"You said ninjas," she says to Victor as her attention focuses mostly on him. "You're not exaggerating." She's not heard of gangs of actual ninjas in Manhattan ... ever. And the last time she had to deal with any was, was before Bahrain. In Osaka.

Quake has posed:
While Agent May orders up food and drinks, and Skye puts in her own request for coffee, "And maybe some of those chocolate bars from the break room machine?" Because. Reasons. She pulls up her satchel (previously swung behind her, and mostly hidden but for the leather shoulder strap of the thing crossing over her body) and sits. "Laptop. Secured."

Because paranoid Skye is paranoid - and she's had reason to be.

"She's not connected to the mainframe, so we can weed out what we want to filter through and scramble the rest." Genus would be passingly familiar with some of Skye's code, but then again, there's a bunch of it that is likely over his head. "And you're not going back to the tunnels, Genus. Not sure what we're doing with you. Director Fury might have a cow if I promote another someone into the fold..." She gives a sidelong glance to May, her lips quirking at the edges. "But for the next while at least I'm guessing you're our guest. Only with less of the song and dance. We haven't the budget for candelabra." If he gets the reference.

Daredevil gets a 'ugh, you think you're so clever poking fun at me' look. "Yes. It's Latin. And fine, I looked it up. But it's the right word."

Yeah, she's awfully familiar with him all things considered.

Daredevil has posed:
"That Disney movie, right?" Genus says about the candelabra. "Which one of you guys are the cursed prince then? Or princess? If I'm Belle," he asks.

Yep, totally got the reference.

"And you guys have the drive right?" he asks, as he shifts over towards Skye looking at her laptop. "Should be no problem working with the data, I configured it all like the stuff we did that first op of ours," he doesn't name names because he's not sure how cool SHIELD is with Skye's past. "But the encryption key is my design, but should be no problem to input."

He looks up. "Yeah, ninja. Like the masks and everything."

Daredevil steps in then, "The Hand," he explains. "They like to hide in the shadows, but all of this," he gestures to the computers and all it entails. "Is meant to drag them into the light, courtesy of Elektra Natchios. I am hoping SHIELD can be counted on to take action. They've done a lot of harm but we have a chance to stop them."

Melinda May has posed:
May looks at Daredevil and nods, then turns to the door a moment before someone knocks. She opens the door, thanks the agent there, and accepts another laptop computer and a data stick. The agent leaves and she turns to ... oh. Well, redundancy never hurt anything.

She offers the data stick to Skye and sets the computer on a sideboard out of the way. "From what we've been gathering, Asian organized crime is trying to gain a foothold in New York. And while that's not technically SHIELD's jurisdiction, there's enough crossover that we most likely will step in to assist in some fashion or other."

Quake has posed:
Skye knows exactly how may knows that about the upswing in not just the Hand activity, but Asian crime gangs altogether. It had something to do with some extracurricular activities they engaged in. However, she can cover all that under business - business that thankfully lets Skye forget about her personal troubles for a time.

"Daredevil is the enchanted Prince. Think May is Potts. I guess I'm Chip." She shrugs.

Daredevil has posed:
Genus snerks. "I'm not marrying Red," he says with a nod to Daredevil.

The tells are small, but Daredevil's attention shifts to the door the same time as May's does, just before Agent Sanchez knocks.

"It's more than just New York from what I understand the Hand are everywhere," he says. "But if SHIELD takes the fight to them now, or hell, refers some of it on to the FBI and other national agencies, we have a real chance of changing that. Regardless, I'm willing to do my part to take the fight to them. They need to be stopped."

"Sort of intense isn't he?" Genus says soto voice to Skye as he takes the drive from May checks it over, then hands it to Skye. He's not going to put stuff in her gear without her permission. There's rules to this stuff.

He adds: "And for what it's worth, I agree with Red, these guys have to go. They're into some spooky shit."

Melinda May has posed:
"Then I will do what I can to make sure that the decision makers have all of the intel they need." And that starts with Genus and that data stick. May apparently plans to remain standing so long as Daredevil does.

Again, she turns to the door a moment before there's another knock, and this time it's a junior agent pushing a cart holding three covered plates, a stack of coffee cups, a carafe that's steaming faintly, and -- possibly incongruously -- a cozied tea pot.

May takes control of the cart and starts setting everything out on the table, the cups and beverages centrally located, but the covered plates placed directly in front of Victor... and in front of Skye. The extra is set on the table possibly to see if Daredevil opts to claim it, or if Victor is still hungry.

"There are temporary quarters being arranged, Mr. Ivanov."

Quake has posed:
"I'm not marrying him," Skye protests. "Think my current partner might have issues with that." And she smirks. Not that she or Clint had plans on marrying that she knew of, but it was mostly academic anyway, they were about as domestic as you could get and still be an Agent of SHIELD. "How about you, May? I hear he has tricks."

She knows she's likely to pay for that one, but she still can't resist.

As she jokes, she takes the data stick from Genus and starts the bootup process. Protocol might say you don't touch another hacker's rig, but by the same token, you didn't gank their code, either, without permission, so once she's got all her security systems in place, she swivels the laptop around so that Genus can do his thing.

"Not just the Hand," she informs. "The Neon Dragons are on the rise, too. Big presence on the docks." And they were working with Cal. Who was still running loose and a huge problem.

Daredevil has posed:
The smell of the coffee and food on the way reminds Daredevil how long it's been since he last ate, and that he's running on about four hours sleep. When it arrives, he tentatively makes his way over to examine the spread. Coffee's a no go, he's not going to leave saliva on the cups or try to walk out the door with ceramic cup, but he does lift the lid on one of the food trays hoping for some finger food.

There is a soft snort at Skye's joke. "I don't think she likes me much," he says of May.

Genus drags his plate over and lifts the lid, munching as he types careful to keep the crumbs off Skye's rig. See! At least one hacker can code and eat at the same time! Otherwise the hacker is in work mode, fully engrossed in what he's doing.

"True, the Dragons are on the rise, but it hasn't stopped their rivals from taking shots at them after the beating you guys gave them at the docks. Sooner or later someone innocent is going to be caught in the crossfire."

Melinda May has posed:
"Don't make me laugh, Skye," is May's reply to her joke, said just as Vulcan-deadpan as everything else. Despite her reply, her eyes consider the red-clad man again. From what little she can tell? Likely too young. Possibly breakable.

Once the others start reaching for food and beverages, she actually does as well, filling a mug from the teapot instead of the coffee carafe. And, Daredevil's avoidance of the beverages and caution with the food is not lost on her. "There isn't a Daredevil on SHIELD's persons of interest list. And so far as I know, there is no plan for there to ever be one." Considering she's currently Deputy Director...

Quake has posed:
"Wouldn't be me if I didn't try," Skye quips back. "Pretty sure your face won't crack." Yeah. Lame attempts at humour, but she's trying. It's been a rough few weeks for the girl.

Unlike the other two, she's not touched the food yet. Hell, she hasn't even noticed that there are no chocolate bars. Full on work mode Skye doesn't seem to acknowledge that food exists. (Threats to her rig have worked in the past).

"May doesn't like anyone," Skye tells Matt, though it's not a complete truth. She says it without any hint of a lie to the statement, but there's an edge of something underneath it all that suggests it's rather more complicated than that. It's clear Skye shares a unique(ish?) relationship with the Deputy Director... then again, Skye is also one of the only people who get to waltz into Fury's office without an appointment whenever they feel like it, though she'd sort of earned that right.

Matt gets a nod at May's words, as much as to say you can take them at face value, even as she makes a mental note to have a wee chat with May at some point in the future. For all the reasons.

Daredevil has posed:
Oh Daredevil is a good enough judge of character to leave poking May to Skye, but there's a smile for the remark that May doesn't like anyone. A small and brief one anyhow.

"Reminds me of a friend of mine," he remarks lightly. The banter between Skye and May was vaguely familiar to Matt. Though Stick was less inscrutable and more crude. "I was a pain in his ass too."

Skye's nod seals the deal, which is something of note, and Daredevil helps himself to coffee. "Thanks. Given somewhat recent events I'd like to be left of any lists," he says the reconsiders, trying to soften things by adding, "But if you can help here with the Hand, I'll owe you."

Melinda May has posed:
The nod from Skye to Daredevil does NOT go unnoticed, and May makes a mental note to pin Skye down and find out exactly how much she knows about this vigilante. Not for any official SHIELD report, but for her own mental calculations.

"Only a select few are allowed to annoy me and live," she remarks seemingly idly before taking a sip of her tea. "But yes, the Hand will be given much higher priority than current. And I suspect the information on that data stick will go a long way toward making that happen. While your having been here can't be erased from records," her eyes flick toward Skye with a 'don't even try' glance, "I think a non-interference directive can likely be approved."

Quake has posed:
May gets a wounded look from Skye at May's suggestion she might try to erase Daredevil from any records (fiiiiine, she would too try it; hell, she'd even consider asking Oracle to help out, that's if she were going to try. She's so maligned. Not. So very Skye. May has her pegged.)

Skye's attention flips back to the laptop easily, as she watches what Genus does, and when the files unencrypt themselves, and begin spilling down the page, scrolling off and away, she whistles underneath her breath. "Holy. Shit. She wasn't kidding when she said we'd have what we needed. Jesus fuck, are those bank accounts? Bills of lading? Since when does organized crime keep books these detailed?"

Melinda May has posed:
"If it's the Neon Dragons, they're Chinese. They invented bureaucracy," May quips. They have an entire bureaucratic system for HELL.

Daredevil has posed:
There is a smirk at the only a few being allowed to annoy May and live, Daredevil takes a sip of his coffee.

"I expected as much," he says of the records, before the rest peaks his interest. "Non-interference? What would that entail exactly?" he asks the lawyer in him coming through even as he sounds interested.

Genus finishes the decryption with a proud "There," turning the computer to let Skye read.

"Yeah, the Dragons are on there, the Wing Kong, and the Shinkoda-gumi," he says. "The last group is Japanese, but they love their bueaucracy too, tend to be a bit old fashioned though, most of their files are scanned sheets from ledgers. Anyhow, this should be enough to do them serious damage, right?"

Melinda May has posed:
And now it's May's turn. "Skye, forward that information to Analysis. If it's as thorough as I suspect, we will likely have actionable intel compiled by this time tomorrow. Then I think it's time for Mr. Ivanov to visit Medical and then the Quartermaster." She finishes the tea in two swallows.

"Daredevil, when you're ready, I can escort you back." And she can discuss the non-interference agreement with him on the way. As well as study him more. There's still something... unusual about the way he carries himself. And the fact that she hasn't figured it out yet is bothering her.

Quake has posed:
Skye nods to May's words. Now that Genus has cracked the code, the rig is her own again, and she tilts it back her own way, and begins compiling packets of information to send in secure blips to Analysis.

"Non-interference," Skye murmurs, all the while typing away, making sure things are encrypted again, and safe, "Means we know you exist and operate, but we don't take any actionable force against you in reciprocation for shared information. Generally means you don't get to kill everyone willy nilly, but we appreciate laws bend and break from time to time in the pursuit of the good."

Her gaze flicks up to May. "How'd I do?"

And with a single keystroke, now that her encryption and scrambling is complete, she sends the info to Analysis, who she expects will be calling on her shortly to undo what she just did.

Skye might have done that on purpose.

Daredevil has posed:
Daredevil puts a hand on Genus' shoulder when it sounds like it's time for him to go. The vigilante leans in close whipsering to him quietly. Genus pauses a moment then nods, "Thanks," he says. "But I'm good. DS has my back."

Daredevil nods and straightens. "Alright you know how to reach me."

Then he turns his head to May along with Skye waiting to hear if that definition of the agreement fit what the Deputy Director had in mind.

Melinda May has posed:
May nods her agreement with Skye's explanation of non-interference. "Close enough. There might be other aspects to it, but that's the basic gist."

She gestures toward the door to indicate he should precede her, then quietly speaks into her comm to have a car readied. Because there is no way in hell she's WALKING the guy all the way back to Hell's Kitchen.

"Mr. Ivanov. Thank you forthe sacrifices you've made to get this intel to us." With that, she turns to leave as well.

Quake has posed:
Skye's food grows, expectedly, cold, but she's done work. Gotten out of bed, dressed, /and/ left her quarters today. That's a plus. And for a good hour or so she's forgotten her woes, so bonus points there. Plus she had Genus to show around. "You can come squat in my rooms until they assign you somewhere. Trust me, if you're not safe in them, you're not safe anywhere here."

Because girl was pretty sure she had a detail within the Trisk as of late given her current status, the ordeal with Karl, and the fact that Cal was on the loose still. Not to mention Skye had an alarming tendancy to disappear when things got stressy and she was much easier to track down if everyone just assumed for the next while that she might need a keeper or three and had a detail assigned.

She was trying to keep them as bored as possible, and quite possibly succeeding, if not also boring herself.

Daredevil has posed:
"I'd like to go over those other aspects before I agree to anything," Daredevil says warily, "But the gist sounds fine."

When nodded in the direction of the door, Daredevil heads in that direction, giving Genus a quick pat on the shoulder, and a nod to Skye. "Agent Johnson," there is a moment where his attention lingers, considering Skye for a moment. There was something different there he'd been too caught up in his mission to notice, a background hum and a change in her heartbeat. There's a worried frown flashed her way, but he doesn't say anything, not here, and so when urged leads the way out the door.

For his part, Genus nods to Skye, "Great, as long as there's a shower and a bed I'm good," then something clicks. "Wait, is /he/ there?" he says, meaning Hawkeye and sounding excited. The hacker was a bit of a superhero nerd. "I think I met the other Hawkeye today too. And Daredevil, obviously."

If nothing else Genus would make life a bit more interesting for a bit.

To May's parting words, he looks up a little surprised. "Uh, thanks," he says. "I tried."

Quake has posed:
Skye just shakes her head at Genus. "Yes. He will be there. We live together. You know, like the same bed. No, you can't join us. And wait, the other Hawkeye? huh?"

Daredevil has posed:
"Gross," Genus says finishing the last of his food. "I'm not into heroes like /that/" he says with a shake of his head and an elbow for Skye. "Anyhow, I promise not to geek out..." he says then pauses, staring.

"Wait you didn't know about the girl Hawkeye?" he asks. He reaches into his pocket for a phone that isn't there. Right, he'd ditched all his gadgets when he went off the grid. "Anyhow, I can show you online at your place, but yeah, dunno how she's running around with that code name but she saved my ass," a beat. "And I might have shot her a little, but she's okay!"

Quake has posed:
It all clicks for Skye. "Ohhhhh. Her." Because Clint had mentioned his friend and former protege, and questions had come up. Captain oblivious assured Skye Kate wasn't into him that way, but hearing her moniker? Skye wasn't all that convinced that Clint was right.

A pause.

"Wait, how do you shoot someone just a little? That's like being a little bit pregnant." She should know. She's been shot. Not an experience she wants to repeat.

Daredevil has posed:
"You know her?" Genus asks, curious. "Never did get a name beyond Kate."

Genus flinches, "It was dark and the other Hawkeye came out of this tunnel and I had my gun, so I raised it and-" he lifts an arm and rolls back his sleeve to show a bandage around his forearm spotted with blood. "A guy shot me through the arm with a fricking arrow. Dropped my gun and it went off. It just grazed her."

He pulls the arm of the hoodie back up over the bandange. "Anyhow good thing the guy who shot me wasn't either of the Hawkeyes or I'd be done. Also, might need someone to perscribe me more painkillers for my arm. The ones the nurse gave me are starting to wear off."

Quake has posed:
"You are so going to medical," Skye says without anyone even prompting her to be responsible in this manner. "Like pronto. One of us in the doghouse is bad enough. I'll walk you there. And no, I don't know her. I know of her. You'll have to pimp Clint for details."

She packs up her stuff and grins at her friend. "And it's Clint. You get to geek once and call him Hawkeye. Maybe even ask for an autograph, but after that, it's Clint. You can play fishing derby or Music Box heroes or whatever other games he found in the discount box, but ixnay on the AwkeyeHay after that, got it?"

She slowly but surely steers him towards medial where hopefully Jemma won't have any more 'just one more test I need to run, please' for Skye herself.

After that? Pizza. Gino's of course. And 2 six packs of frou-frou beer. There were three of them after all.

Daredevil has posed:
Genus gets up, and hauls his messenger bag up over his shoulder with a grimace. "Alright," he says about medical.

As for Hawkeye, he rolls his eyes. "I am not that bad." Beat. "One autograph and a selfie and you've got yourself a deal."

Then he's off with Skye to medical with beer and pizza to follow.
