Cast of Characters: Invisible Woman, 333, Tygra, 283

Invisible Woman has posed:
After a strange report of a 'sphinx' monument going up in culver, Sue Storm goes out in the Fantasticar to investigate. She leaves her children at home because they shouldn't be out in danger, and that seems to find the Fantastic Four.

The car lands in the shadow of the 'sphinx' statue and she steps out of the hover Car with a strange device. "This.....looks a bit too modern to be 'ancient', I think. Also...robot teddy bears?"

Ben Grimm (333) has posed:
It was supposed to be Ben's day off. Not /officially/ his day off since he doesn't have a real job schedule. But the chores/saving-the-world chart on the fridge /definately/ said that today was: Reed - Vacuuming, Sue - On Call, Johnny - Dishes, Franklin - Clean Room, Valeria - Solve Fermi Equastion, Ben - Free Day... or something like that. So how did he find himself piloting The fantasticar all the way to Culver, Conneticut.. Like, /WHO/ goes to Culver, Connetict?

But Sue had asked nicely.. and he was a sucker.. SO!

Ben shuts down the hover-egines and pulls an unlit cigar from his pocket and squints up at the Sphinx and raises a rocky brow. "Ya gots ta admit, Suzie... It's not tha WEIRDEST thing we've ever seen.. Not even on a Monday..." he points out.

Tygra has posed:
Tygra along with a small flock of Ro-Bear-Berbils is hard at work on the construction of the Sphinx. It's actually almost magical how fast they have constructed much of the Cat's Lair. The giant fortress of a cat stands above the landscape around it, it is not something that can be hidden from the world and has been being talked about for days. Especially by the locals.

The Thundercats are making due. So far as Tygra is concerned all but he and Kat are not in New Troy, Metropolis at the Hall of Justice. Which is a shame he could really use some of Panthros help right now.

Dusting his hands off the Tiger-humanoid standing on a scaffolding outside the fortress leaps down recognizing the Fantasticar from his first encounter with Susan-Storm-Richards. The berbils remain at work leaving the Thundercat to approach.

WilyKat (283) has posed:
After earlier exploration with WilyKit, she and WilyKat have returned to Cat's Lair. While she's off looking to scrounge up something to eat inside, Kat's sort of hovering near Tygra. Literally, in fact, given the hoverboard he's been scooting around on to help carry a few things from one spot to another. Why walk when one can 'board?

"..and we were thinking about how some of those people play music for money, and we might be able to do that. Honestly, too! No deception involved! What do you think?" he's in the midst of asking the striped Thundercat before he stops to turn in the direction of those coming near. "Who's that?"

Invisible Woman has posed:
"No, it's not." Sue says looking over the scaffolding and tilting her head. "And it's still being built it seems." She says looking over the robot bears. "God, Reed would have a field day with these bears." She then looks to Ben. "No smashing any of them, okay?" She then rolls her eyes. "Who am I kidding. I know your restraint, Ben. I'm just glad you came along." She says as she spots a familiar figure. "Huh. Looks like I found a familiar face." She says waving to Tygra. "Did we bring a universal translator with us?"

Ben Grimm (333) has posed:
Ben Grimm snorts and steps out of the Piloting module, unwrapping his cigar and sticking it in the corner of his mouth. Instead of being in his costume he is in a pair of white chinos, a hawaiian shirt, and flip flops.. All customized of course. "Not like I 'ad anythin better ta do, Suzie." he tells her. He makes no motion to light his cigar and looks around. "And we ain't gonna /tell/ Reed 'bout these bears... last thing I need ta be trippin over are a bunch of metal Winnie da Poohs." he grumbles. Then he pats his breast pocket. "Tha translator is right 'ere.. So... Cat people, huh? This gonna be dere litterbox?"

Tygra has posed:
"Thundercats do not need money and we are not about to cheapen our honor by becoming a band of musicians, WilyKat. We are warriors not bards for profit." Tygra is almost chiding WilyKat about the idea (no wonder they're such rebels). "That is a friend and a... a... "
"ROCKMAN!" Tygra lashes his hand back and a whip unfurls, one that snaps out wide and slashes through the air in a display.

"Susan-Richards-Storm! LOOK OUT!!! There is a Rockman behind you!" Yes, on New Thunder the Thundercats encountered the /blue/ Rockmen several times and they have always been an enemy.

The Berbils hearing the alarm in Tygra's voice scatter.

ON the positive side of things Tygra slipped in the translator as the Fantasticar was landing.

WilyKat (283) has posed:
"And how are we supposed to buy things in this world?" WilyKat asks Tygra, perhaps a little more pointedly than he means to before adding, "Besides, Kit and I didn't have the same /royal/ upbringing you and the others did. We had to do whatever we could to survive, and sometimes we went days without any food. I don't want to do that again." Now, he's going through a sudden mood swing along the lines of 'don't tell me how to live my life!'

That goes by the wayside when Tygra recognizes Susan and takes Ben to be a threat. One of those things /did/ try to destroy the elephant village! "Oh no!" he blurts, digging into one of his pouches in search of something that might be effective against such a thing. "I never saw an orange one before!" He's floating backward at first on the hoverboard. "I'll sound the alarm!" Pause. "Do we even /have/ an alarm yet?"

He's got his translator on almost by default. What a crutch.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Rockman? Who are?" Sue then looks at Ben and rolls her eyes. "Right. Sorry Ben, I keep forgetting." She then looks to Tygra. "Put your weapon away. This is Ben Grimm. He's a dear friend and teammate of mine." She says as she points to the emblazoned 4 on his chest.....

The same 4 that is on the side of the car.

Sue does raise a hand to put it between herself and Ben, and Tygra and Wilykat. "I should warn that any attacks against Ben will mean you'll be attacking me as well......as the reverse would be true if I attacked your friend up there, or one of the bears here. So, please put the whip away...."

Ben Grimm (333) has posed:
There are probably a HUNDRED reactions that Ben could produce right now. He could just jump right in, fists a swinging, shouting his trademark catchphrase. He could bowl through the incoming attack, shouting his trademark catchphrase. He could JUMP into the fray, feet first... shouting his trademark catchphrase. He's been across the universe in back and seen a lot of things. He's a worldly, nay, a UNVERSAL man.

So.. his shoulders just droop and he lets out a long exhasperated sigh. "Well... Like I /didn't/ see somethin like this happenin..." he mumbles as the larger of the cat people pulls out a whip, then looks to Sue. "Do ya know how long it took me ta get this hawaiian shirt? I 'ad ta have it custom made with the Fantastic Four pattern and everythin... If it gets shredded you are so gonna get me a new one." he mumbles then holds his hands up, palms foreward, in a placating gesture. "Yeah! What she said! Calm down, kittens. Play nice. Aunt Petunias Blue Eyed Nephew ain't no one's scratchin post, so chill... Light up some catnip or sumthin...Don't make me get all Bob Barker on ya."

Tygra has posed:
"Nor have I WilyKat but maybe they're just a different color on this planet!" Tygra does a rather acrobatic twist in the air, twirling like a top with the whip spiraling around him. It looks almost like he is about to sail high and come down right on top of Ben but mid-air the words of Sue ring true. Logic wins out. Not that he could likely even put a dent in Ben Grimm.

Skidding to a stop clawed feet bunch up dirt and grass. The whip swirling in one hand.

"A friend of yours? And he speaks!" Tygra's posture slowly changes and he uprights, "Bob Barker? Sounds like a possible dog man." Slight cautious glate of cateyes are given to Ben. Wary still. Obviously.

WilyKat (283) has posed:
They were warned that people may come calling, and soon. They weren't warned that some of them would look like that thing, like Ben Grimm. In most of their previous encounters with enemies, the Thunderkittens were not part of the fray. That's a memory WilyKit is struggling to reconcile with the fact he's older and bigger now, but before anything needs to be put to the test there's a call for all involved to stand down.

This is something the other Thundercat is content to do rather than risk getting smashed by a rockman, and fortunately Tygra also cuts things short of getting that far. He's heard Susan Richards-Storm as a name, and now Ben Grimm. Suspicion lingers along with open wariness, a hand used to motion the Berbils back further behind them.

"All right. I have a few questions before anything else. Who is Aunt Petunia, what is catnip, and who is Bob Barker? He.." A glance follows toward Tygra, and WilyKat nods. "What he said." Not to be lost in all this is the fact his tail is stiffer than usual, and Tygra has none to speak of. He's also still on the hoverboard, but whatever he was reaching for is left in its pouch.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Yes he's a friend of mine. And he didn't always look like this, since he was part of the same accident that made us the Fantastic Four." Sue says putting a hand on Ben's shoulder and with surprising gentleness. "He's the best friend of my husband, and a dear friend to me. You have nothing to fear from him.....unless you attack." She then looks to WIlykat, then to Tygra. "Unless you want to see what it's like to face one of my shields?"

Ben Grimm (333) has posed:
Ben Grimm isn't sure what she means by 'One of her shields'.. well no, thats not true. he does know. He's just not used to her phrasing it like that. As if they were talking to Thor or someone.

Waiting a few seconds for Tygra to come to a halt, he just nods to the whip wielding warrior and his wiley whippernaper.. "Liek she said,. I didn't always look like this.. but I do now. I ain't a Rockman. I'm The Thing. Thats whut people call me anyways." he tells them. "And Aunt Petunia and Bob Barker.. uh.. probably take too long to explain. Catnip though.. Thats like wackey tabacy for cats."

Invisible Woman has posed:
Susan Storm-Richards snerks at that. "You're gonna have to explain wack tabacy too, Ben. I don't think they know turn of phrases yet."

Tygra has posed:
A cautious look to WilyKat at the words of Ben and Sue before Tygra is flicking his thumb along the whip a zipcord like sound escapes and it ravels back in being tucked back to his belt once more.

"Relax, Susan-Richards-Storm, threats are not necessary if he is a peaceful creature and your friend as you say."
Tygra clears his throat and proceeds to walk over to Ben, extend hand, grip, lift up, lift down. Repeat. Unshake. It's how he was shown before by the first humans. A handshake. It is a peaceful thing he has learned. His actions are almost mechanical if the Thing allows him to proceed with the handshake.

"I apologize The Thing we are still strangers in a strange land." He isn't exactly sure how to respond to the shields warning.

"Oh yes, our friend Cyberdragon gave me some catnip to examine earlier. We have yet to determine if it is poisonous or not. Wackey tabaky?" Sue is right. Not a clue.

WilyKat (283) has posed:
"I think she's challenging us to do something, Tygra. Why does she keep challenging us?" WilyKat asks, looking pointedly at Susan with growing suspicion. The situation has not been defused enough for him to look or feel comfortable with the two before him. "I'm WilyKat and this is our home, Susan Storm-Richards and Ben Grimm the Thing. I mean, it is now. We crashed on this planet and needed a place to make our own. Would you come to someone's home and challenge them like this?" He's not getting close enough to do the handshake ritual, however. He's keeping his distance.

When the catnip is called what it is, he just squints at both of them and makes a point of fiddling with his translator, switching it on and off. "Tygra, I think this thing is broken. Some of the things they're saying don't make any sense." To Susan and Ben, his words may come out as a cross between English that can be understood and more feline sounds, akin to a wildcat.

Ben Grimm (333) has posed:
Ben Grimm sighs again, shaking his head. "See, thats tha problem with you outer space types.. You don't get tha lingo. When ya hafta explain a joke, its no onger a joke, ya know?" he asks.. But he takes Tygra's hand in his anyways. And while some may stereotype Ben as a brute, the handshake is surprisingly gentle and careful.. he's had years of experience to get it right by now.. and it can be surprising to some hie dexterous that huge hand is.

"Apology accepted. Heck, i wouldn't even worry about apologizin.. Not like it's not happened before, or won't again. But , we're cool." he promises.

He then looks to Wiley and raises a brow. "I don;y see anyone challenging anyone.. 'cept maybe /you/, kid." he tells the youngster. And let me tell ya how it works. Just because ya CRASH on Earth, in America, doesn't mean ya can just set up like ya OWN the place. The fact that tha army, or Homeland Security, hasn't come a knockin means you /'aven't/ been challenged much. Hell, I'm surprised tha state 'asn't come here and asked if you wu'll be payin freakin RENT. So pipe down and let the adults talk."

Invisible Woman has posed:
"If I was challenging you, we would not be speaking, sir." Sue says to Wilykat. "And please....call him Ben. Calling him 'Thing', despite it being his nickname, is a bit of an insult, like he's not human. Or like saying you're not a thundercat." she then shrugs. "Ben is one of the gentlest human beings I've ever met." She then smiles to Ben. "Until his patience wears thin."

She then glances to Wilykat...then up towards the structure. "So....what're you building here? Home?"

Tygra has posed:
"You may be right." Tygra says quietly to WilyKat. "He may speak with an accent we simply do not understand. Put your hackles down, WilyKat." He speaks up again, his hand taken back as he inspects it. All in one piece. A gentle of a giant. Fascinating.

"Susan-Storm-Richards,please, relax. We mean no insult and you should not as well, we are warriors first. He introduced himself as The Thing, I assumed I am being polite by refering to him as such." Tygra wears a friendly smile, the best one he can manage. His teeth are even showing a little despite feeling somewhat forced. He understands the need of good diplomacy, they /are/ the guests here.

"It would appear we still have much to learn." He tries not to appear too apologetic. Some may assume it is a weakness, Tygra stands firm and as steadfast in his politeness as he can. "You are cool? I have blankets the Berbils were using for some of the animals we moved if you are in need of one? It is quite warm out for us."

WilyKat (283) has posed:
One problem with tails? They quite accurately give away certain moods. Maybe that's why the cat royalty got rid of them, to help mask certain emotions.

In WilyKat's case, the tail is now no longer straight out, but lashing back and forth and poofed up. He's agitated. He's angry. He's..insulted! "You're the ones who said don't attack or you'd do this, or you'd make some shield if we wanted to deal with one. We stopped already! And..I'm not a kitten any more! I'm fully grown!" Or as close to it as he can be, but given his mood swing and outburst, the mental side has yet to catch up with the physical one. No, he hasn't taken too well to Ben essentially telling him to shut up.

"We were trying to find a new world after ours was ruined and we're not trying to get in anyone's way and then you show up making threats and.../whiskers!/" He tried to hold back, even tried to heed Tygra's urging to calm down, but..not right now. What does it say when Tygra's the one showing the most diplomacy among them?

With a snort and sniff, maybe even a wounded look that flashes across his face, the one called WilyKat doesn't offer so much as a 'Goodbye' before he's peeling off on that hoverboard, back into the safety of Cat's Lair and away from the Fantastic Four representatives. Someone's probably going to have some smoothing over to do, now or later.

Ben Grimm (333) has posed:
Ben Grimm offers Sue a faint but sincere smile. "Thanks, Suzie-Q. I loves ya too." he tells her, and gives her a friendly elbow nudge before turning back to the 'Kats. He doesn't seem offput by the fangy smiles. Thats probably because he has seen most everything. He offers his own grin of HUGE, flat, Teeth..

A grin that fades a bit when Wiley sort f goes off like a kitten cannon and then walks off. "Well... looks like someone gave a new meanin ta 'Hissy Fit'.." he mumbles, then shakes his rocky head and looks between Tygra /and/ Sue. "Kids... Amiright?" he asks.

Invisible Woman has posed:
"Don't reminds me, ben. Franklin's coming up to puberty, and Valeria will hit there soon enough." Sue then looks to Tygra. "he means things are fine, Tygra. Ben will seem strange to you at first, but I'm sure you'll warm up to him and his ways." She says lightly pounding him on the chest...then shaking her hand....as if it hurt."

Tygra has posed:
"He is not wrong but he is also not right. You'll have to understand WilyKat is going through some serious adjustments." Puberty? The poor young Cat skipped right past that and woke up from his suspension capsule a young man. Tygra isn't about to try and explain all of that though. "He is as strange to us as we are to you all no doubt. We are simply trying to do our best to make it by right now... " Tygra studies Sue curiously, "Shall I show you around?" A clawed and striped hand motioning behind him towards the Cat's Lair. "It is not finished, we haven't even begun on the inside yet." The translator is working nicely at least. His words are coming across in clear English and hers are being fired back at him in easy Thunderian.
