A Wizard and The Shadow Investigate
Date of Scene: 14 February 2019
Location: Doctor Meredith Anderson's Condo
Synopsis: The Shadow and Harry Dresden run into each other while investigating a murdered womans condo.
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Harry Dresden, Shadow

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Doctor Meridith Anderson had a really nice condo, but now it was sitting in silence. Mostly due to the good Doctor not being married and there wasn't any next of kin that had showed up yet. The crime scene unit had roped off a few rooms, mainly where things had been taken, but other than that the place is still in disarray from the files being rifled through and vice versa. The moon is streaming in through a few stainglass windows, lighting one room in an eerie red glow.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden walks in through the back stairs. Even though he can get access due to his being a consultant for GCPD, he knows it is awkward having a wizard on their payroll and doesnt want to make problems. He looks around carefully with his senses and also Listens for anyone who might be spying on the scene.

Shadow has posed:
Given the atmosphere of the place, it might actually take Harry a moment longer than it usually would to realize that the creepy feeling he's getting is in fact due to another presence rather than the fact that he's standing in the home of someone who was murdered in a supernatural manner, at which point he can hear the soft sound of the front being carefully closed...

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden spots that someone entered magically and checks the Never Never to see if they teleported in or came in from a magical near pocket dimension. He breathes deeply and looks around, hearing...something but having no pinpoint where.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The condo is quiet except for that eerie feeling that Harry's getting. Maybe it's just one of those things. The two don't sense any other presences besides themselves. There's no disturbance in the Never Never that Harry can see.

Shadow has posed:
Faint sounds at the very edge of hearing. The slightest whiff of gun oil and cordite. And for just a moment -- the flickering of a shadow in the moonlight where the eye swears there is nothing that could have cast it.

Oh, and a voice. "... And who might you be?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden looks around, filing his mental rolodex of that voice or heroes who do that. He's coming up blank but it will come to him. So, Harry is Harry. "Harry Dresden, Wizard at Large, PI, White Council, Pyromaniac and saver of Damsels in Distress. And who might you be?

Shadow has posed:
There is what is /probably/ a chuckle in that sinister, inhuman voice, and then the shadow Harry spotted earlier moves back into view -- and space itself seems to /twist/.

Of course, Harry has almost certainly seen stranger things, but the way a part of the room suddenly has trouble deciding whether it's two or three dimensional is doing painful things to his eyeballs as the shadows seem to rise and coalesce and /solidify/ until a tall figure in a black greatcoat and cloak is standing in front of him, inhumanly bright sapphire eyes glaring at him from underneath a slouch hat while a blood-red scarf conceals the rest of their face.

"A detective, you say? Interesting. I am known as the Shadow - and I came here to investigate the good Doctor's death."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "Yes. I'm happy to swap notes. I am certain it is attached to a larger pattern. Wait...are you the Shadow?" He had heard rumors of course, but he kept a close ear to the street and the appearance was....distinctive."

Shadow has posed:
"So far, two that I'm aware of," the Shadow replies, nodding. "Which is already two more than I'd like. I haven't found any obvious link between the cases yet, either."

The Shadow looks around. "The police report said someone had searched this place, but they were unable to determine what might have been taken. I intend to take a closer look..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "The lawyer and this doctor? My client was looking in to her father. I've found she has some...occult properties in her blood and I think he is trying to cover his tracks. If you have ideas, by all means check cameras. Electronics and me dont get along"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "I think the other victim might have simply been a snack for her father...not sure."

Shadow has posed:
"... A 'snack' ?" the Shadow asks, a hint of menace in their voice. "Her father preys on human blood, then?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "She is half vampire. She knew her mother, so I can only conclude that unless her mother was insanely good at keeping secrets, yes."

Shadow has posed:
"... Understood," the Shadow comments, then turns to examine the file cabinet again, looking for the gap where something might have been removed.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden begins to look closely and may need to open his Third Eye but prefers not to just yet. He searches the windows and then nods looking near them to see if someone might have entered in mist form leaving traces of water magic resonance

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The windows and the doors don't seem to have been breached magically. The doctor seems to have let the assailant in of her own free will, or of course she could have been mind controlled to let him in.

Shadow has posed:
"No sign of forced entry..." the Shadow mutters under their breath as they examine the door. "Either she knew her assailant, or they somehow coerced her. Is your client's father the type of vampire capable of mind control?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "Gah, I hate that stuff but yeah that's possible. Magical means were used to enter, and it was not mist or teleportation. Hell with a vampire it could be anythingb ut almost all vampries have the threshold rule so mind control is the most likely culprit."

Shadow has posed:
"... 'Treshold rule'?" the Shadow asks, tilting their head, then nodding as they figure out what Harry means "That would be the source of the tales that a vampire cannot enter a dwelling uninvited, then?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "You know....it strikes me that the father might have taken both files. Especially if he can mist form and enter doors he wouldnt normally be able to. Or use mind control to enter places. And yes, that is one of the tales that is right but therer are lots of different kinds of vampires. Her mother commited suicide when she was a year old. "suicide" but now I wonder. The doc had files on the father....it adds up."

Shadow has posed:
"Indeed. Although I do get suspicious when things add up /too/ neatly," the Shadow replies, walking over to the doctor's desk and powering up the computer after inserting a very nondescript USB stick into one of its slots.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "I should not be anywhere near that when you look at it. Computers and I dont go well together."

Shadow has posed:
"That probably makes your job intensely difficult at times," the Shadow comments as they study the monitor, where an abstract green face overlays the more standard screen layout and files appear to be opening on their own account...

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "There are so many things that make my job intensely difficult you wouldn't believe it." He shrugs and moves away from The Shadow as they look at the thing to the opposite side of the room."
