Cast of Characters: Robin (Wayne), Batman

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian had been staying at Richard Dragon's dojo since his sojourn. He needed time, to figure things out away from the Titans, away from the Bats, and away from the League. Richard Dragon's dojo in New York was very ornate, tatami mats lined the floor, and everything looked traditional. Inside the gate was a large door, large enough for a certain batdragon to fit through, and away from public view in the daytime. The wooden hallways lead to various rooms, and some bedrooms. In one of these bedrooms had been Damian, dressed in black gi pants, black belt tied around his waist, and showing his scarred upper body. Many more than a fifteen year old should have. A reflection of his life as a child soldier. A pot of tea was sitting on a table, incense burned and the smoke danced elegantly from the stick.

In the lotus position, Damian had been meditating on the past weeks. The troubled young man had been pulled in so many ways, but there was one constant. On a mannequin in the room was his Red X armor, equipped with two pistols that Jason had loaned him. The boy was alone currently in the dojo, as Richard had needed to go out for business.

Batman has posed:
Bruce Wayne, with his face concealed by a simple ski mask scales the wall to the dojo. Invited, or not, this is where he needs to be be. Landing, Bruce pushes away memories of the first few days, weeks, and months leading up to Batman. Also, the first few nights Batman took flight. Both are running across his minds eye. There is no suit. There is no armor. Just a pair of black tactical pants, a black turtle neck, ski mask, and leather gloves. 5R
The Doors to the temple swing open loudly when Bruce reaches them. They shut just as loudly as they open. The noise echoes through the halls. Quietly, he is looking over the Dojo before goingforward to find Damina. If he does, hewill unmask before saying anything. If Damian hides, or is a ways away, Bruce will keep looking. All of his legwork brought him here. This is where thetrail to Damian Wayne led. Whether it leads to finding the young man, that's a mystery to Bruce.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
There were things that Damian had come to find as the norm here at the dojo. One had been people coming in and out. Most people left Damian alone, especially when he was cleaning up the dojo.

Goliath hadn't been around, lucky enough for Bruce. There had been news of a Batman style vigilante operating out of Manhattan, it had been Red X, though it wasn't known to the media. Only in some police reports, easily accessible by Bruce.

Damian had his door open, and his back to the door, still sitting as Bruce made his ingress. It seems that he was that able to let his guard down here. Although, Damian was always prepared for something.

Batman has posed:
"Damian," Bruce letshis voice roll when he makes it to Damian's door. He heard stories about Red X, but those would be addressed later. Right now, there are things infinitely more important than Batman or Red X.

"We need to talk," Bruce follows up. Quietly, he enters Damian's room, shuts the door and then sits next to his son. He waits for a moment, just to give his son a moment to pull out of his trance.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
The time had come, Damian knew he'd be found sooner or later. Even on a subconscious level he left breadcrumbs that could be used to find him, if someone put forth the effort.

Damian does come out of his trance easily. His bright green eyes look piercingly at Bruce as he sits. "Father." He says, plainly and without much anger behind it.

His partially olive skin showed he was of mixed heritage, that, his height, and his eyes were the only pieces of Damian that stood apart from the pictures of fifteen year old Bruce that adorned the manor.

Batman has posed:
"Have I ever told you about the first few days I put on the mask?" Bruce asks. There's a point to the qeustion, but Bruce is trying a different approach to the lectures. It's one he hasn't done in a while, and Bruce isn't sure if Damian heard it yet.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
"No." He comments, not pointed. Simply a statement of facts from the youngest Wayne.

"What happened?" Damian asks, starting to get interested in hearing what Bruce has to say.

Batman has posed:
"Do you want before, or afterthe costume was developed? Before there was a lot of mishaps, trial and error. Jumping without the cape was difficult, to say the least. There was a lot more bruising." He pauses shaking his head more at himself than the memory.

"The first night in the suit, I barely stopped a gang from robbing an eletronic store. I huddled on a fire escape thinking, 'Lucky amateur.' And I had an injury to my right thigh to boot," Bruce explains showing the harships to this line of work. "The point is, there is no manual for this line of work. I simply wanted you to talk to your brothers," Bruce gestures to this place. "They can offer you more than this place. I don't have insight to being Robin. Tim, and Dick, do." Bruce notes the guns and that is why Jason is left out of the conversation.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian listens, looking to Bruce as he explains. "It wasn't a matter of being Robin. It was many factors rolled into it." The boy sighs slightly, pointing out. "I know I'm not the colorful one like the others. I'm like you, shades of grey." To put it in a way that Stardust had commented. "Dragon has taught me many things. not simply about Robin. About me." It was true, he was a bit more at peace now. "After the gala, I realized I had things I needed to do. I still do, parts of my past, of my life as an assassin."

Batman has posed:
Bruce shakes his head a little bit. "One of the reasons I wanted you to talk to them was to learn what it's like to be human. Your mother, and grandfather stripped you of a childhood. You didn't deserve that. Talking to those two, I was hoping it would spark -something-." Bruce pauses for a moment. "Sometimes, I see it. That the child is there, and I don't say that negatively. It means you're not as gray as you think you are," Bruce explains. To some extent he is learning how Alfred felt after Bruce's parents were murdered. To see that light start to extinguish.

Bruce is trying to keep Damian's light from snuffing out. "They can teach you a couple of things, I can't." And Bruce isn't just talking about being Robin. He knows they're more well-rounded people by comparison.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian regards Bruce's comments, and he nods. "When I told you about when I stabbed Vorpal. I didn't get to say it was two years ago." He adds in, most of his confession was for things that he did right as he got to Gotham. When he was operating like an assassin, not like a hero.

Damian's eyes soften a bit, he had been ready to be angry again, but he didn't need to be. Part of what he learned at the dojo.

Batman has posed:
"You still need to apologize for that," Bruce looks toward the Red X costume. "I see this moniker as an extension of that assassin side. The side of you that could be there." Bruce nods tot he costume. "I just want you to have a better life than I did," he admits softly. A look isgiven to Damian as he admits that.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian stands, going to the small closet and picking up a case. It was mostly nondescript, but he leaned over it, a sensor scans his eye, and the case unlocks. Opened, it produces the Robin uniform that was at Titans Tower. Sans GPS tracker and bodycam Bruce had installed in it. Damian's leash.

"I didn't feel I deserved to wear this still. And without X, the secret would have been out there. I did what I knew would protect you and the others. By taking that experiment and trying to make it better." Damian would sooner kill someone again than allow the secret of the Waynes to be put in the open. Even now. "I have apologized. And still it hasn't been enough."

Batman has posed:
Bruce looks at Damnian. Sky blue eyes take in the details of the two suits. How they're contrasting each other. Then he looks at his son, "You didn't apologize about the party. You attacked teammates. I need to know you won't do that to others ont he field. That's why I wanted you to talk to Dick and Tim, too. I want to -know- they will be safe." Bruce looks at Damian. "And to fix everything, is you spending time with them. Learning to respect them," Bruce looks at Damian. He wants his son to be on the safe and narrow. It's not a lack of trust. Right now, Bruce knows that if DAmian doesn't respect someone, they're seen as lesser. The lessers may not be seen as worth saving. Bruce doesn't want that to be a liability.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
"Would you like me to lie to you about the party?" Damian quips, it was a knee jerk reaction. He looks down to the floor, then back at Bruce. "I'm sorry for how far it went. But not the motivation. I wanted to embarrass you. After you stripped me of rank, I...felt spurned. Alluding to possible financial misgivings at Wayne Enterprises with the French Government seemed minor enough. Stardust was spreading tall tales all night about who she actually was."

Damian never was one to talk about his motivations, he had been taught to never do such. Him opening up to his father was a show of trying. "Vorpal was almost two years ago. I learned that lesson, and paid it back with my own blood. And I'd sooner kill someone to save any of the family, or their secrets." That last part was completely true. Even himself and Tim had found common ground recently.

Batman has posed:
"Damian. You did it in front of a -reporter-," Bruce says firmly to the boy. "I introduced her as a reporter. Other members of the family talked about her job as an internet slueth." Bruce pauses for a moment. "Situational awareness, son." He KNOWS Damian has been trained on that. "Given the life we lead, situional awareness applies even when we try to be normal."

"I still want you to try, son. I need to see you make this effort. I didn't need my son to do his best David Carradine. I need my son to get along with his brothers," Bruce looks at Damian as he is trying to point out the lesson. "It will help you. They've all been in shoes similar to yours. They can help you in ways you're not letting them. Son, I know I keep some people out. You're worse than me, and I don't want people to be like me." Bruce looks at Damian. "Dick is more adjusted than me. Tim, too. You need to learn from them, too." And there is a motivation not reallys hared before. Bruce trying to keep his own son from a similar fate.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian nods his head, looking saddened. He'd never heard Bruce call him son that many times before between themselves. But then he looks distinctly confused. "Who's David Carradine?" Pop culture, one of many social things he had very little knowledge of.

He clearly sees he overthought what Bruce wanted him to do now. He had learned that a punishment usually meant something very bad, such as injury, or in this case, losing the one thing that he truly enjoyed doing, which was putting on that uniform and doing as his father does, or close to it.

"I will try, I swear it. I cannot say I will master it at first. But I will." Perhaps it was too much of a promise, but he was motivated.

Batman has posed:
"An actor. Your Grandfather liked an old show he was in. He was a wandering Kung Fu master, on some self-appointed journey. This task of yours is self-appointed," Bruce says softly. It's one of the few things he can tell Damian about his other Grandfather.

"Just have them find me after you talk to them. And I want you to keep talking to them. They're family. They're a resource, too. AS I said before, what we do doesn't have a manual. You have an advantage none of them have," Bruce is quick to finish this before Damian interjects something. "You have multiple Robins to gain information from. Dick had none. Jason had only one, and so forth," Bruce points that out to Damian. A way for Damian to see the situation, what Bruce wants, and maybe something Damian didn't see before.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
"I will let Dragon know I am going back. But he's helped me, Father. And one of the last masters of martial arts I can still learn from."

Then he looks up at Bruce, taking him a long moment to work up the courage to ask one last thing. "Can you tell me more about them? Your parents, I mean." It was one thing Damian had actually been reluctant to ask about. And that list was not long at all.

Batman has posed:
"I'm not saying don't train, but living here. Not feeling like you're welcomed at home. That has to end," Bruce says firmly. Then he pauses after a little bit.

Bruce pauses for a moment, "They were very much in love. Your Grandma loved old 90s music. Grandpa loved the stuff his parents had him listening to in the 70s, and 80s. He didn't want money, really. Medicine was his life. He wanted to heal people. He established a lot of the Wayne Enterprise programs involving charities, and programs that gave back to Gotham," Bruce says using some parts of personal knowledge, what Alfred told him, and what he learned on his own.
